The next day, Aiden was getting ready to bring Sunny home when he received calls from his parents which he avoided knowing where the conversation will lead to. He had been ignoring their calls since last night.
On the other hand, Iris was excited about her last exam. She almost ran outside feeling free but stopped in her track seeing Derek smiling widely at her. Derek had a smug look which made her suspicious.
“Hello there! Looks like the exams were done well.” He seemed glad.
“Uh thanks, yeah. What are you doing here?” She asked searching around.
She wasn't feeling good about it. She prayed Aiden to be here.
“I thought we needed to talk. Why don’t you come with me beautiful?” Derek smirked.
When she didn’t show any movement, Derek walked towards her and intentionally rubbed his thumb on her chin sending chills to her body. It was awkward, so awkward knowing this guy here was her brother but the way he was behaving wasn't right.
“I promise it will be worth.” Derek whispered near her ears.
“What do yo-you mean?” She managed to ask fearing something worse.
“You’ll know sweetheart.” His breathed kissing her neck as she shuddered.
He pulled back suddenly and grabbed her wrist before pushing her inside. She didn’t fight him back and sat beside her. When they were driving she managed to laugh wryly.
“What?” Derek asked.
“As far as I know, I resemble your sister and the way you’re behaving back there; it really looked odd.” She laughed still not believing it.
Derek’s jaw clenched.
“But you aren’t and I don’t mind trying even if you looked like her.” Derek let his intentions know which made her eyes bulged out.
She had this feeling that he was enjoying her discomfort.
They finally stopped at a mansion which she doesn’t recognize. It was amazingly huge.
“Come.” He ordered her as she followed inside and sat in the living area. The place was heavily guarded.
“Do you live here?” She asked observing the interior which screamed ‘class’.
“What do you think?” He smirked.
He felt content watching the impressive look on her face.
“Why did you summon me?” she tried to play cool.
“Summon you?” he laughed. “Why don’t you make yourself comfortable first? That’s what you’ll need later anyways.” He gave her a devilish smile.
She studied him. He was handsome and there wasn't a doubt about it. He hardly smiled but when he smiled he could give a tough competition to Aiden who himself looked not less than a model; the duo could make any woman go crazy with just their cold eyes.
She wondered is he still single like always or has he managed to find himself a woman.
“You can choose a room for yourself and feel at home. I will ask the maid to prepare your favourite dish.” Derek said flipping some magazine.
“Wait what? Did I hear it correctly? Did you just ask me to stay?” She stopped and snapped at him.
How dare he decide something for her? Not that he was his brother any longer.
“Shhhh... Don't raise your voice sweetheart. I really don’t appreciate it.” Derek gave her a lousy look.
“What makes you think I will agree to that? Not that you are my boyfriend or something.” She sneered at him which irked him up.
‘Why she had to be so tough?’
“I knew it could be a problem so why don’t you see this?” He snapped his fingers and in came a man with a tablet in his hand.
Derek took it from him and smiled sweetly at her.
“Come here cara mia.” He cooed at her.
Although he sounded calm but she knew it meant danger. Gulping hard, she managed to walk to him as he yanked her towards him and made her sit beside him on the couch at the handrest.
“I was searching for something that could make you bend against your wish and see what I found?” He grinned at her.
Iris saw the screen and her eyes bulged out feeling scared as hell. A video of men guarding outside her ‘home’ with guns in their hand was played. Marcus, Maria and Erik were grounded.
“I don’t think you will want to hurt them just to refuse my proposal? Now will you?” He asked in a polite manner caressing his finger across her arm.
She wanted to cry. This shouldn’t be happening. How could he do this again?
“What do you want?” she asked irritatingly.
“Good girl. I just want you to pretend to be my sister and do as you are told. Remember, be a smartass and you ‘ll lose them.” He whispered in her hair which disgusted him.
“I will but promise you’ll leave them now.” She asked straight forwardly.
“Why not honey? Let’s sign a contract then?” He asked clapping his hands.
Another man came followed by a lawyer as he gestured them to hand her the documents.
“Sign these documents and your family will be set free.” Derek still caressed her arm.
She tried to stand up but he yanked her back gripping her tightly.
“I will need to read it first.” She glared at him.
Derek laughed.
“Sure please go ahead.” He laughed again seeing her helpless.
Inwardly he was dreading it. He wanted to embrace her and tell her she needn’t be afraid but this was the only way to make her stay. They say, ‘everything is fair in love and war’ and this was love.
He sighed.
Iris felt helpless and heartbroken. Never did she imagine that things will turn this way. She was here to destroy them but looks like she wouldn’t be able to.
She re-read the contents again and again and finally signed it submitting herself to him. She stormed away from there and ran wherever she wanted to. Derek breathed deeply seeing her act this way. His heart diverged into two directions. One was happy to see her here and the other was worried that he would lose her like his Iris.
Iris ran not watching where she was and found herself lost. When she looked around, she saw a huge wooden door that was different than others. Curiously, she opened it with great force. It opened wide facing a huge room that was decorated in a dusty blue and white theme. She felt warm knowing it was her favourite color.
Note the word was.
She entered inside and there was everything in there. The room was fully furnished with a queen sized bed and velvet duets. There were stuffed animals and avenger figurines. Her heart raced knowing it was all she loved.
She searched around and sure enough on the wider wall; it was her photo decorating it like wallpaper. The wall illuminated with LED lights and her eyes popped out. It was made for her. It was a special room and confidently, it was all arranged by Derek.
But why?
She felt sentimental and quickly rushed outside when she was chocking with emotions. She turned to her left and after walking few more steps she was directed to another wide hall that had her portraits. She gawked at them in amazement and felt speechless. Every photo of her adorned the walls in this hall and these were some pictures which she hasn’t ever taken.
‘Does that mean it is Derek?’
She felt sobs escaping her throat. She couldn’t stop herself and cried out loud. She felt thankful that there was no one around. After sometime when her sobs died, she walked outside trying to find her way back. She thought to throw away the conflict emotions but it was becoming so difficult for her. Every wall in this mansion was adorned with her memoirs. Her pictures; some known and some unknown decorated the walls but also her first piece of writing, drawing and craft was present there. She turned to a corner and found a butler who seemed to be shocked to see her.
“Madam, what are you doing here?” He asked her feeling overwhelmed with joy.
“I am so glad that you are here finally; I hope now this house will become home.” He kept rambling on and on as he guided her towards the main living area.
“Ah, there you are!” Derek reached her and pulled her towards the dining table.
“What happened? You don’t look happy?” he asked feeling concerned.
“Your house is been... I mean it is decorated with only your sister’s photos. Why is that?” she asked in a low and cracked voice.
Derek’s face fell and suddenly became distant.
“Finish your food first.” He ordered which she couldn’t take.
“I am sorry but I have to go somewhere.” She pushed the plate aside and ran away.
He wanted to run after her and when he saw his guard running after her and trying to block her view; he gestured them to let her go.
He needn’t worry now when she has already signed the papers.
