"So tell me, Jeon Jinyoung. What made you snap?"
Jinyoung scoffed shifting into another expression. From that intense pissed gaze to a taunting-teasing look.
"You think your psychoanalysis can trick me? Sorry, cupcake, but you can't play mind games with the master," he said confidently and teasingly placing his finger on the trigger. Aiming on a different direction and pulled the trigger. Lisa winced in pain as the bullet grazed her arm.
"Lisa!" Jin stood from his seat the same way Taehyung did.
"Next bullet goes straight through your skull, Lalisa Kim," the devil said grinning like the lunatic that he is and crouched down, aiming the gun straight at her. "You think you can taunt me, cupcake? Think again."
Lisa held her breath as she felt the sharp seering pain on her arm as he violently grabbed her and made her stand up.
"You know why I'm doing this? Because it's fun," he said as his lips moved closely to her ear with the gun aimed at her head. "Well aside from the money, it's fun to see you privileged people suffer. To see how you powerful people cower at the sight of a gun."
"I'm not scared of you," Lisa hissed as Jinyoung pulled her hair back.
"Oh I know, baby girl," the guy said smirking. "But I do know someone who has an effect on you."
Jinyoung violently pulled her hair back making her turn. Lisa gasped and her eyes grew wide as she saw Jungkook walk towards them into the dining area with a gun on his hand.
"K-Kook?" Jinyoung laughed at how pathetic Lisa sounded.
"Blood is always thicker than water, dear Lalisa," Jungkook said on a very serious tone. "You should know 'coz you'd do everything for family too, right?"
Lisa couldn't make out words. She was genuinely stunned. So Jungkook... after everything...
You knew he was a con man. You had this coming.
"I told you not to trust me," he said before raising his gun and aiming it towards her.
She was confused. What he showed her the past months... the past weeks... Were they all a lie? Was he that of a good actor? She scoffed.
She's Lalisa f*****g Kim. No one can play her dirty like that.
"Shame on me then," she countered. And then stepped closer towards him.
"Game's over now, doll," he said monotonously, eyes showing no emotion at all. No remorse, no nothing. "I suggest you just sit still and let us take our loot and sister-in-law in peace."
She couldn't believe it. She was played. Used. What funny way for things to end.
Right now it wasn't about Jinyoung, Jin or Jisoo. Nor was it about their plot to get money from them. It's about playing her. But the game isn't over 'til she says it is. So she smirked.
He's not the only one who'd fight for family.
"Game's not over until I say so, Jungkookie."
The way she called out his name was venomous. And the way her eyes pierced through him, it was lethal.
Jungkook adjusted his grip. His eyes wondered to his sides. Then back at her. But when their eyes met, she was only a few inches away from him. Gun close to her head. Too close...
"You want the money? Take it," she said with conviction. "A billion doesn't even cause a small dent in our family's fortune. Nor mine. You want the house? Fine. Take it too. I don't f*****g live here anymore. But take Jisoo away from my brother? You'll have to go through me."
Jisoo was shocked. Even after everything?
Jin was about to stand up and say something but Jinyoung aimed his gun at him. Motioning his finger left to right telling him 'don't even'.
"After everything she did, you're still willing to sacrifice yourself for her?"
"Unlike someone, she wanted to stop," she said looking straight at him. "She declined the 200 million won. And being Jin's fiancée, it's was easy for her to have that lacking money for your brother's head. But she didn't. If it was stalling, then she could've willingly went with the two of you after taking the money. She could've disappeared and never looked back. But she stayed. And even after this, I know she will. She loves my brother. I see that now."
Lisa turned to Jisoo and smiled a bit. After Sooyoung, Jin wasn't the same anymore. He was cold. He was distant. He was... different. But when Jisoo came, Jin turned human again. Even if it was fairly annoying, his drama queen of a brother was back. Yes she didn't like the girl at first but... after everything? She knows where her loyalties are. Not to the family but to him. To her brother.
The 200 million deal? It wasn't just Jungkook's test. It was hers as well. Aside from declining the offer, she didn't even bother telling Jin about it. Small thing, yes, but it proved a point to her. She wasn't a gold digger. She's an i***t. She fell for my brother.
"And you said so yourself," Lisa continued. "You'd do everything for your sister. In this case, you brother. I'd do that for my brother too. We may not see eye to eye but if this woman is his happiness? I'd fight for it to death."
"Fake bravery will get you nowhere, doll."
She then chuckled.
"You know I used to adore you calling me nicknames," she mentioned before her expression totally changes into a stoic one. "But you're right. It's fake bravery. Let me show you a real one then."
Jungkook froze as Lisa touched his gun and lowered it—aiming it to her chest.
"Aim here," she said. "You already broke it anyway."
Then a shot was fired. Who pulled the trigger? No one knew.
"f**k!" Jinyoung hissed as he slammed his hand on the stirring wheel of their getaway car. "We were so close! We could've gotten her, Kook!"
Jungkook stayed silent on the passenger's seat. His eyes staring straight at the city lights flickering.
They got away just in time after a shot was fired. But it was neither his nor his brother's. It was Jung Hoseok. But his aim missed and they were able to slip out of the policemen's grasp.
"We have to get her," Jinyoung insisted. "How will we be able to access the rest of our money?"
Jungkook wasn't even shocked at his brother's words. Apparently, the reason why Jinyoung was hell bent into taking Jisoo back was their money. Half of it was actually in Jisoo's name since they're married. And the fucker wanted everything for himself.
"We have to get her no matter what—"
Without another word, Jungkook went out of the car. Jinyoung and his greed. It was always like that.
"Ya! Jungkook!"
Jinyoung went out of the car as well and followed his brother. Jeon Jinyoung may be the best con man in the country but he can't work alone. He always needed someone to take the bullet for him.
And today, he took the biggest one yet. To save everyone from him, he needed to hurt her. Was this his karma for all the scheming he's done in the past?
"You don't know how much this loss is—"
"Oh no, hyung," he stopped him. "You don't know how much I lost for you."
"You lost?" Jinyoung scoffed. "Face the reality, Jungkook. Whatever feelings she had for you? They're all temporary. She's in love with that Min Yoongi guy. If I hadn't stepped in and blackmailed him, you wouldn't even have a chance to get money from her—"
Jungkook froze. So the blackmail... was him? Not Lisa's grandmother?
"It was you? But I tracked the image—"
"That old woman sent an announcement. Not a photo scandal," he corrected. "I sent those pictures which to the media was worth way more."
"But her grandma didn't deny—"
"What difference would it make?" He laughed. "You managed to snag the girl and get me my money. At the end of the day, you're still my hidden ace. When everything in the plan gets f****d you're still the only person I can trust."
Jungkook clenched his fist. Jisoo's right. His brother isn't the same anymore. He was a greedy psychopath.
Then the sirens came blasting in.
Good thing he actually listened to her.
Lisa's eyes fluttered open and the strong smell of anesthetics was prominent. She immediately recalled everything that happened and how she passed out as soon as Hoseok came rushing in.
"Li?"
She turned to the side only to see Chaeyoung sitting beside her bed and holding her hand. Jimin was right next to her while Hoseok stood up from the couch behind them.
"Where... where am I?"
"You're in the hospital, Lisa," she said. "Your brothers and Hoseok oppa brought you here yesterday after Jungkook and his brother escaped."
So it wasn't a dream. She had hoped it was all a nightmare and that when she wakes up, she'd see Jungkook sleeping soundly beside her with his arms around her.
As she stared at Jungkook's retreating form right after the gun was shot, I had hoped to be woken up from slumber by his butterfly kisses and warm embrace. But that wasn't the case.
The weeks of bliss with him was the dream. And she was woken up to face reality. The reality that a b***h like her didn't deserve that dream.
"Where's Tae? Jin? Jisoo?" She asked. Hoseok stepped in.
"Jin's taking care of the the case while Jisoo with the media," he explained. "Tae went back home to get some stuff and Jennie went with him. They kissed and made up if you're wondering."
She let out a sigh of relief.
"Good," she said and forced a smile. "At least they're all fine—"
"Lisa." Chaeyoung cut her off. "Why didn't you tell us?"
Her forehead creased. "Tell you what?"
"You're pregnant, aren't you?"
"What? No—"
"You are, Li," Jimin said as he too held her hand. "The doctors said you were fine. And that the baby's fine too. Imagine our surprise. Three weeks."
She's pregnant? She f*****g pregnant with Jeon f*****g Jungkook's child?!
"What the f**k? How can I get pregnant?! And with that con artist's child—"
"Li."
She felt Hoseok's hand on her shoulder. She had no idea how he went from one side of the bed to the other.
"You need to relax," he said trying to calm her down. "I know this is a surprise but, you have another human being's life to look after now. Whether it's a con artist's child or not, the baby's your child. So you should love and cherish it no matter what."
Unconsciously, her hand made its way to her tummy. Hoseok's right. Whatever Jungkook did isn't the child's fault. The child is innocent.
Suddenly, someone entered the room. Lisa's forehead creased.
"What are you doing here DK?" she immediately said. It Aren't you supposed to be friends with Jungkook?"
Behind him was two other guys she didn't recognize.
He sighed.
"I understand you anger, Miss Kim but Jungkook... Jungkook asked for the 97 to keep this a secret but I feel like I need to tell you this."
He stepped closer but Hoseok blocked him. Jimin also stood guard.
"I wouldn't come close in front of you," he warned them.
"Jungkook asked our help to take his brother down," he explained making the girl's forehead furrow. Then she turned to the two guys.
"And they are?"
"Yugyeom and Bambam," he said. "We're supposed to make sure nothing bad happens to you and your family. The entrapment was supposed to happen in the house but Mr. Jung came in with a gun."
Hoseok was shocked.
"Everything was planned, Miss Kim," he explained. "He needed to gain his brother's trust again in order to catch him. For a week, the 97 planned with the police since he wanted his brother to pay for his crimes—"
"Why are you telling me all these?" she cut him off. "If he told you not to tell me, then why... why are you disobeying his orders?"
DK turned to Bambam and Yugyeom. The two nodded.
"She deserves to know..." she heard Yugyeom whisper. "It's the least we could do."
"What?" she said in panic. She had this weird feeling in her guy and it's not good. "What more do I need to know?"
"Lisa, Jungkook... Jungkook fought his brother."
"Yes. You said he wanted to take his brother right?"
DK couldn't get words to come out of his mouth. So instead, he took out a small box from his pocket and handed it to Lisa.
"He wanted a happy life with you, Lisa. And he wanted to do things right. He gave this to me before he went to his brother just in case something happened—"
Lisa opened the small box and a pair of silver bands welcomed her. Her gaze immediately landed on to DK.
"Jungkook didn't make it, Lisa. Jinyoung pushed him off the cliff."
