"So what do you have for me?" Jungkook looked grim as his old time buddy DK sat across him. DK—also known as Dokyeom—not his real name by the way, had been friends with him for years. And he is the best investigator there is. The guy can dig up dirt like he was born to do so.
"His father isn't Oh Suhoon," DK said as he handed him an envelope. "He was adopted at the age of 14 after his biological father got convicted for embezzlement."
Jungkook took out the files and read through it.
"What company?"
"YK," he answered said straightforwardly. "His father was Song Hosung, a former financial manager of YK."
"I did a little research myself, Dokyeom. There were no records of his adoption whatsoever. And, his name's all over the elementary school yearbook I had my hands on—"
DK halted as an unknown female—with her arms folded, suddenly walked towards them.
"This better be good, Jeon. I have tons of things to prepare for the goddamned wedding," she mumbled as she sat next to Jungkook. "It's f*****g stressful to cram everything up in a month."
"Not wasting time, I see," Jungkook said nodding. "Anyways, doll, this is my friend, DK, a.k.a the best private investigator in the world. DK, the one and only Lalisa Kim of YK Group—"
"—formerly," she corrected and proceeded to shake hands with the guy sitting across her. "You're friends with Jeon, right? But why do you look so trustworthy?"
This made the guy laugh and Jungkook scowl.
"Finally!" DK blurted out. "Someone immune to the notorious Jeon Jungkook's charm. You, ma'am, are a legend."
"I wouldn't be too sure about that—aw!"
Lisa kicked him violently under the table. Then she smiled at DK.
"So, how'd you meet this wackodoodle?"
"We've been friends for almost 7 years," he said. "I kinda know every shady thing this guy did since middle school."
"Don't tell me he's been conning people 7 years ago?"
This made DK turn to Jungkook who just shrugged.
"OMG you're part of the 97?!"
The 97, as Jungkook shared with Lisa, was a group of con-artists with different specialized skills that created the perfect scams—all '97 liners. They even managed to acquire their first billion way back in 2013 with some of them barely even sixteen.
"You know about the 97?" he asked wide-eyed. Then he threw a deathly glare towards Jungkook. "It was supposed to be a secret."
"It was?" he said feigning innocence. "I didn't know."
Rolling his eyes, he then turned to Lisa.
"Yes, ma'am. I was. I don't know the limit of information you acquired from this baboon but I assure you, it was all for a good cause," he explained making Lisa chuckle.
"Don't worry," she said with a wink. "Your secret's safe with me and I pretty much only have beef with Jungkook."
This made the guy smile.
"O...kay," Jungkook butted in. "About the info you have with Oh Sehun? You were saying?"
"Sehun?" Lisa blurted out then turned to the guy sitting beside her. "You had my fiancé investigated?"
"Hell yeah I did," he answered. "Before you con someone, you have to at least know everything about him. To support the cause."
This made the girl roll her eyes before sitting back straight. "You're unbelievable."
"O... kay," DK awkwardly leaned back his chair. "Oh Sehun is the adopted son of Chairman Oh Suhoon since he was 15 after his father died during investigation after embezzling funds from YK."
This made Lisa's forehead crease.
"Wait," she said. "I don't know if I remember it correctly but SS Group has been around at the same time with YK. And even before, Oh Sehun had been around business magazines together with his father since he was a kid."
"Maybe he's not the real Oh Sehun?" Jungkook suddenly said. "Like in the cases of those dramas where their kid suddenly dies and uses a different kid to replace the one that died to secure the company would still be in their lineage?"
DK and Lisa both looked at him in shock.
"What? Don't tell me you haven't seen movies like that."
"But that's not far fetched to be honest," DK said rubbing his chin. "That would make sense since SS Group 'suddenly' wants to be tied up with YK. Aren't they tied with D-Com Electronics?"
This made Lisa's eyebrows furrow.
"D-Com? The American company?"
DK nodded. "As I was doing my research about Oh Sehun, I stumbled across all subsidiaries and partners of SS group. It's not known by the public yet but the acquisitions are final and contracts were signed."
"When was this?"
"Around a week ago?" DK answered. "I also have some info about the shareholders, stocks and anything, actually. I take research very seriously."
Lisa's gaze narrowed. "How did you get these very valuable information?"
DK turned to Jungkook who grinned the same way he did before turning back towards her.
"I may or may have dated someone valuable."
She folded her arms over her chest before turning to Jungkook.
"And this is why I don't like secretaries," she mumbled.
"You dated one, remember?"
"Female secretaries. FEMALE."
"Don't take it against them, Miss Kim," DK said smiling. "If they didn't spill details, what would we have against Oh Sehun?"
"Fair point," she submitted.
"This is so unfair," Jungkook whined. "He just smiled and you agreed? Why don't I get the same treatment?"
"Being a whiny ass b***h doesn't suit you, Jeon," she attacked the guy before turning her attention back at DK. "Do you happen to have a list of these valuable information?"
"I happen to have compiled them, Miss Kim," he answered with a devious grin. "But, nothing comes for free."
"I'm well aware," she replied before taking out her checkbook and scribbling on it. "A blank check. Tell me how much you want and I'll give it to you."
A gleam of sparkle can be seen on DK's eyes before leaning closer to Lisa.
"I don't need monetary compensation, Miss Kim," he said. "I actually have an easier mode of p*****t that would benefit the both of us."
Then DK leaned in closer and whispered something to her. She grinner.
"Deal."
"She can't marry before me, grandma!" Jin insisted. He and eldest Kim were in the garden where Kim Daseom usually spends her mornings. "I'm the eldest! I should be the one to marry first!"
"You'll get your chance to marry that girl of yours, Seokjin," she calmly replied as she sips her tea. "Why are such in a hurry? Is she that excited to get ahold of our money?"
"Grandma!" he yelled sounding really upset. "I thought you like her."
"Like her?" the Chairwoman repeated before laughing. "Please, Seokjin. I've met a good number of social climbers in my lifetime. I know one when I see one. I just didn't say anything because it's your life to ruin, not mine. And it's not like she can make you more of a useless piece of tool, to be honest."
The Chairwoman's words drove daggers into her the eldest grandson's heart. Yes, he knew she can be this mean but he never knew she could be mean towards him. He always thought he was the favored one because she never did talk to him in this manner.
"What? Did I hurt your feelings?" she asked before scoffing. "Grow up, Seokjin. And do it quickly. The company's suffering from your incompetence and I had to trick your sister into coming back to the company just to straighten out the mess you made."
Offended, Jin marched out the garden and back towards the house passing a very amused Taehyung.
"I knew you wouldn't do that for no reason," he said to his grandmother as he walked towards her. "I'd like to believe you genuinely approved of Jisoo for Jin, grandma. You didn't even cause a scene in their engagement."
"I know the three of you well, Taehyung. I raised all of you," the old woman answered simply as Taehyung stood beside her with his hands inside his pocket smiling. "I know that even though your brother has an ego as big as a mountain, he adores your sister and would beg for her to return just in time for his engagement. And I did need her for Jaegu motors so it's a win-win situation. Also, I know very well your sister is very protective of Jin—and you, so she's just scare that woman away for me. But that doesn't seem to be the case now that her brother suddenly 'joined' us here."
"So that's why you matched her with Sehun? So that she'd stay away from Jungkook?"
"Oh no, dear child," she immediately said. "I happen to like that one. I announced Lisa's engagement to actually stop Jin's wedding from pushing through."
"And sacrifice Lisa to someone we barely know?"
The old woman shook her head disappointedly. "And here I thought you've learned enough from me."
Taehyung's forehead creased. "What do you mean?"
Kim Daseom grinned and sipped some tea.
"It's only an engagement, my darling. Anything can happen."
"Hmm... this is good," she said as she skimmed through the contract Sehun and his lawyers gave. She didn't have any lawyers present. Why would she need one anyway?
"Don't you want your lawyers to review the contract first?" He asked her. "You absolutely look breathtaking in that wedding gown, by the way."
"No," she replied with a sly smile before signing. "I trust you, Sehun. Besides, you're giving me enough stocks from SS Group. 15% is such a generous number. And thanks for the compliment."
It only took a month to prepare everything. The venue, the guests, the event, it was all prepared with ease thanks to money and power. There are perks to being rich and this is one of them.
"Well, you did give 25% of YK," he said smiling. "Are you sure though, Lisa? Not that I'm complaining or anything but that's all your share in the company."
Lisa crossed her legs and folded her arms as she leaned back her seat. In some cultures, seeing the bride before the wedding is a bad omen. But they're Korean. So instead of welcoming guests, they wanted to change it up and do the contract signing.
"I'm JH, Inc.'s COO, Sehun. I want nothing to do with YK anymore. Plus, we're getting married. Half of it will be returned to as well as half the shares in SS if you divorce me. So it's a win-win situation," she said cunningly with a wink.
Sehun smiled and proceeded to sign his own set of documents.
"You signed without asking your lawyers?" Lisa asked curiously to which he answered with a shrug.
"I trust you too, Lis," he said then winked. "And besides, we're getting married in a few minutes. Trust should be our thing."
Lisa answered with a flirty smile before standing up and shaking hands.
"Pleasure doing business with you, Sehun-ah," she said in a very endearing tone. "Shall we go and greet our guests?"
Sehun stood up and fixed his tux before lending her his arm to which she clung on on.
"Shall we?"
With a devious grin, nodded.
"Let the show begin."
The new couple bowed towards the crowed after being pronounced as husband and wife.
"To commemorate this event, may we request the bride and groom show us their first kiss as husband and wife," Taehyung—who she asked to be the announcer, said. "Everyone, please join me. Kissue... Kissue..."
The crowd chanted with her playful twin making Sehun look a bit embarrassed. She, on the other hand threw dagger looks at Kim Taehyung.
"We can disappoint the audience now, can we?" He said smiling shyly. Lisa rolled her eyes smiling before nodding.
With this, Sehun raised the veil covering her face gently. Second after he slowly leaned closer. They were only an inch apart when suddenly, Sehun's shy smile suddenly turned into an evil smirk.
The doors bursted open and an unknown man walked in. Kim Daseom's eyes grew wide. Song Hosung, alive and well, walked in.
"You're alive?! What are you doing here?!"
"Why, Mrs. Kim," the man said smirking. "Can I not attend my son's wedding? Or are you shocked because you failed to kill me off?"
With this, the old woman turned to Oh Suhoo who had the same evil grin plastered on his face.
"Seven years, Chairwoman Kim..." the resurrected man said as he walked forward. "Seven years of hiding—waiting for the right opportunity to strike. And now, I finally won. YK is now mine thanks to your granddaughter's generous gift."
A man—a lawyer judging by his looks, gave some documents to the old woman. Chairwoman Kim then immediately turned to Lisa who just folded her arms over she chest.
"You gave him all of your shares?!" she blurted out. "All 25%?!"
Lisa shrugged.
"I'm a grown woman, grandma," she answered. "I can give all my company shares to whoever I want. And Sehun's my husband now. I own whatever it is that he owns so, I'm good."
This made the woman furious.
"You little bi—"
"But," Lisa smirked and faced Sehun. "You're not technically my husband. You see, contracts nowadays should be really specific. Lucky for me, that's something your contract lacks."
Grabbing the contract her confused grandmother was holding, she pointed out the fine print.
"You see, it clearly states that my gift to you is only valid if we're legally married."
Sehun scoffed. "This wedding is pretty legal to me."
"Yes but bigamy is illegal in South Korea," she said grinning. "Korean Civil Code? Chapter 3 Marriage, Section 2 Formation of Marriage, Article 810 Prohibition of Bigamy? Ring a bell?"
This made Sehun and his father confused. She just smiled at them and faced their similarly confused guests.
"Everyone, I'd like you to meet my husband," she said facing the door.
A man in a pure black suit walked towards them. Jin and Jisoo were both wide eyed. Taehyung—who was still at the podium (and microphone near his mouth) was shocked.
"No f*****g way."
