episode 7: it's over

2063 Words
"Wow. Banging your brother's secretary," Hoseok commented as he scanned the images in the phone Lisa gave him. "I never would've thought." "Can you help me, or not?" She asked impatiently. "If this goes out, Yoongi might lose his job." "Well technically, you're not in the same company anymore," he reasoned. "But I do get your point. Your brother might outright fire him." "The hypocrisy, right? But I'm not worried about Jin. I'm worried about my grandmother." "Oh, right. Mrs. Kim herself," Hoseok said nodding. He wasn't a stranger to Mrs. Kim's vile personality. She was the one who made it almost impossible for him to land an investment for his company. If not for Lisa helping him out—anonymously of course, JH, Inc. wouldn't have been here. And if she did find out about Yoongi, the poor guy might not even get the chance to set foot on Seoul again. "But isn't Jisoo an employee before she became a director?" "Yeah. That's why Jin made her director so Grandma won't have anything against her," she sighed. "We know family better than anyone else. And I can't risk Yoongi. He's done so much for me." "Wait," Hoseok's blurted out. "He's done so much for you? Not because you love him?" Lisa looked away. Yoongi's a very special person to her. She loves him—maybe. But what she's certain about is that she doesn't want to lose him. Not now, not ever. "I don't know, Hobi. I... I just don't want to get him in trouble because of me." Hoseok sighed. "Okay. I'll delete all digital traces of this image or any copies forwarded from this phone. But that's all I can do for now. I'll also track the device used to capture this images." "Thanks, Hobi. I owe you." Lisa stood up and hugged the older boy before leaving his office. Along the hallway she spotted Jung Jimin, Hoseok's younger brother. "Li!" He called out making her smile. "Just the person I wanted to see." "Hey Chim," she said as they hugged. "You wanted to see me?" "Yeah. I heard Taehyung and Chaeyoung was opening up a club? How true is that?" He asked. He couldn't be more obvious. "Relax, Chim. Chae's not exactly my brother's type so you can retract your claws," she informed him rolling her eyes. "Seriously. You have got to confess your feeling to her. It's been years." The guy adorably scratched his nape. "I keep on flirting with her but she can't seem to notice." Lisa can't help but laugh. True, her best friend is quite dense when it comes to guy liking her because she's too focused on the chasing part. "You know her well enough, Jimin. I know you can pull this one out," she said patting his shoulder. "Plus, you're a CEO now. I'm sure her dad would like you more than those bartenders she keeps on hooking up with." "I guess you're right," he said and smiled. "Maybe I can invite her to dinner or something." "That'll be good. Give her roses. They're her favorite," she added. "Dinner. Roses. Got it," he responded. "Should I pick her up? What if you come with us? I mean, she might feel weird about it—" "Stop stalling, Jimin," she cut him off and fished her phone out. "W-What are you doing? Ya! Lis—" "Hey Chae!" "Li? You sound weird. Why'd you call?" Chaeyong asked over the line. "Nothing. I was just wondering if you're free tonight?" "Tonight? Well... I don't have any plans. Why'd you ask?" "Well, someone wants to talk to you." Lisa shoved the device to Jimin catching him off guard. He panicked and almost drop the phone. "C-Chae!" Jimin's flustered face made Lisa chuckle lightly. The guy looked adorable rambling excuses to why he called. But in the end, he was able to ask her out for the night. "You're despicable," he muttered as he gave her phone back. She grinned in return. "I know, little man. I know." "Hey Stranger..." Lisa immediately hugged Yoongi as he turned to face her. Gods how she missed him. But Yoongi didn't respond nor hug her back. She noticed this and tried to catch his line of sight. "Yoongs? Is there something wrong?" "You left YK," he mumbled. "Yeah, I did," she said proudly. "It's about time, right? I really want to build my own career away from my family now, Yoongi. I mean, I don't like to be stuck forever in their shadow—" "If Jin hadn't had an episode in his office, I wouldn't have known, Lisa." Lisa felt a sudden surge of guilt wash her. She forgot to tell him. She wasn't able to contact him in two days as well. Damn that con artist. "Yoongi, I'm sorry. It was a sudden decision and it must've slipped my mind—" Yoongi heaved a sigh. "Tell me, Lis. If it wasn't convenient for you, would you have dated me?" he asked out of the blue. "Of course!" She blurted out. "You're the only good thing that's happened to me, Yoongi. You're the only good in me. You're my anchor—" "I'm your lapdog, Lisa," she spat like it was poison. "Since then you've always used me as a form of escape. You use me and make do all the dirty work. You're cold, cunning, manipulative and a a total pain in the ass. You think so highly of yourself when in fact you only got to where you are because of your surname. Because everything on your plate right now was handed to you. You're just this insecure little girl with trust issues—" Her hand landed on his cheek and the loud slap echoed within his apartment. But contrary to what Lisa thought, she didn't cry. She just stood there waiting for the deafening silence to end. But Yoongi didn't apologize nor said anything. So Lisa turned away and walked towards the door. "Call me when you get your manners checked," she said as she faced him one more time. But Yoongi looked away. "Let's... let's break up," he said taking Lisa by surprise. "This isn't working." She froze. It's like her brain short-circuited for a second. "No," she said firmly making Yoongi turn to her. "It's not your decision to make—" "We're not breaking up," she repeated but now she looked him straight in the eye. "Because we were never even together to begin with." And with that, Lisa left. Yoongi heaved a sigh before fishing his phone out of his pocket. "As you've heard, we're through. I did what you told me to." "Great," the person on the line said. "Pleasure doing business with you, Yoongi." "Keep your promise," he hissed. "If you hurt her, I will kill you." "I'm a man of my word, Yoongi. I always keep my end of the deal. Will you keep yours?" "You shouldn't be here." "What the fu--Lisa?!" Jungkook blurted out as he got inside the room. Sitting on the floor with a bottle of wine was Lalisa Kim sipping her glass of red wine. "I didn't expect you to be home this early." Lisa rolled her eyes. She should've definitely just headed to that bar downtown and called her friends instead of wallowing on in her sorrow alone in their wine cellar. "I didn't expect you to come into our lives yet you're here," she clapped back making the guy chuckle a bit before fully entering the cellar. "I don't know if it's obvious enough but I want to be alone." Jungkook raised both his hands. "I was just gonna nick some wine. Who knew Chardonnay was that tasty." Lisa rolled her eyes before chugging her own drink. "Amateur." "Oh really now? And you're drinking what? Burgundy?" He taunted back. Lisa took the bottle and raised it to him. "See for yourself." He walked closer to take a quick look. Italian Amarone. "Heavy drinker, I see," he said. "That's not so 'ladylike'." "You of all people should know I'm not and ordinary lady, Mr. Jeon," she defended. "And that's a very misogynistic comment thing to say." "I apologize," he said smiling. "I guess that was poor taste in words." Lisa eyed him from head to toe. "Well at least you have a good taste in fashion." "Am I hearing things?" Jungkook suddenly said. "You're praising me? Wow. Can you say that again? I have to record it." Lisa shook her head and rolled her eyes before sipping her drink. "Thanks for the new phone, by the way," he said as he sat next to her. "The newest model." She just shrugged. "I took yours and I think you'll need one for your 'cons' so... yeah. And just in case it slipped your mind, I'm rich. Filthy rich." "You really like rubbing your wealth on other people's faces, huh?" "It does have its fun." Jungkook just chuckled before taking her glass and chugging it himself. "You're really something, Lalisa Kim," he muttered. "I know," she turned away and stared at the wall accent in front of them. "I'm a cold, cunning, manipulative, pain in the ass bitch." Jungkook's forehead creased as he turned to look at the girl smiling bitterly at nothingness. What's up with her? "You okay?" he asked. Sincerely. Lisa scoffed. "Want the truth or the f****d up lie I always tell everyone?" "Uh... the truth, I guess." Lisa turned to him. "I'm fine. Really, fine." He scoffed. "And here I thought you're a master at lying." "I'm a businesswoman, not a con artist." "But you didn't deny that you're lying," he said making her raise an eyebrow. "Come on. I won't blackmail you anymore. You have my word." "You're a con man. Why the hell would I trust you?" "Same reason why you haven't called the cops on me, I guess." Lisa's eyes squinted as she stared at the guy who just chugged his drink. "Fine," she spat out. "I'm not okay." "And may I know why?" "Because your sister came into the picture." Jungkook's forehead creased. "My sister? Why? Is this still about her engagement with your brother?" "Not exactly." "You do realize you're not exactly being clear here," Jungkook reasoned out. Lisa rolled her eyes. "Yoongi broke things off with me." He was shocked. "Yoongi? The one you were with in the pictures?" Lisa nodded. "But aren't you two like... in love or some bullshit like that?" "Apparently he doesn't feel like that anymore," she said before chugging her drink. "Just because I didn't say I was leaving YK." "So he broke up with you because you left the company? And didn't tell him?" He made sure he heard her right. "Yeah. Pretty stupid, right?" "Well, a relationship does need honesty in it," he argued shrugging. "He called me cold, cunning, manipulative and a total pain in the ass!" "No offense but, you do come off a total pain—" Lisa glared at him. "What? I'm just being honest here," he immediately defended. "But that's you. You haven't killed anyone so you're still pretty decent. I don't know what kind of relationship you two had but from those pictures I saw—" "—and blackmailed me with," Lisa supplied. "—and blackmailed you with, he clearly looked smitten by you." "Looks can be deceiving, I guess," she commented and chugged straight from the bottle since Jungkook was using her wine glass. "So what are you gonna do now?" He asked making her raise an eyebrow. "What? I thought you were the vengeful type?" Lisa shrugged. "I don't know. Maybe get him fired or something?" "Aww, you can do better than that." Lisa grimaced. "If you're suggesting that I sleep with you, that's clearly off the table." "At least I tried." Lisa turned towards him with a shocked look. "What? You're pretty. You're smart. And you're rich. A con man like me would die to have a girl like you. It's my plan, actually. Get your drunk enough to sleep with me."" "Are you mocking me?" Lisa fake exclaimed to which Jungkook immediately caught on so he just shrugged. The two laughed. "Maybe I am pretty drunk right now." "Then I guess my plan's working?" Lisa turned towards him and smirked before straddling him. Jungkook's hand automatically on her waist. He smirked as well. "I guess it is."
