Bennett swung out of his SUV in the car court behind the inn, anxious to see Ivy and congratulate her on Darla’s dismissal of the lawsuits against the city and Ivy. As soon as he’d heard Nan say that Darla had backed off the cases, he’d called the city attorney. In turn, Maeve rang up Matthew, who had begrudgingly confirmed the rumor.
Bennett shook his head and smiled to himself. Such was the gossip news circuit in Summer Beach. Nothing stayed secret for long in the town, including the fact that Shelly had just returned. One of Mitch’s customers at Java Beach had seen her get out of a ride-share car with a suitcase. Bennett smiled to himself. For Ivy’s sake, he hoped she would stay.
