Jade's P.O.V
It's been a few days since I last saw her. Apparently, she's busy with sponsorship and that she can't even have lunch with me. So, it's also been a few days since I ate three meals a day.
Something inside me tells me to go see her. To see how she's doing and that I should call her but I didn't want to look desperate. In the first place, this is just a contract.
I mess up my hair in frustration. Documents were piling up and I didn't have the motivation to end the day on a good note. What the heck was happening to me? There's also this sentence that kept on replaying ever since it was said. Damn you, secretary.
"Ms. Shae, you have a visitor." my ears chimed.
Was it Kheshannah? I should straighten up. Do I look good? Mhm, I look good. I combed my hair with my fingers and run though my mind that I should keep it cool.
"It's not Ms. Kheshannah."
Fuck it.
"Send the visitor away." I say.
"You treat your cousin this way?" I sighed.
"Send her in."
After a few moments, my cousin's face came to view. She had this smile bringing good news. I slouch on my chair and sighed again.
"Someone's not in a good mood." she takes a seat on my sofa and made herself comfortable.
"Apparently someone ruined my day by visiting."
"Oh, shut up. I bring good news."
"I can see that from your smile."
She ignored my question and fish out her phone from her bag.
"I'll be coming with you next week."
"What's in next week?"
"s**t. Did you forget?"
That made me straighten my poise. I look at my calender and saw the red circle for next week's event. Oh, Japan.
"Why are you coming with me? Not busy enough?"
"I just want to come with you. Oh, and I invited Kheshannah."
My eyes widened. Things were moving too fast. How did they know each other? Was she doing something behind my back? Should I panic? Why should I panic? Ah, calm down.
"You two friends?" she scrolls through her phone and stood up.
She zooms her phone in my face, making my head dizzy. I grab her phone and take a look. It was their conversation together. This cousin of mine initiated the talk! Goodness.
Patricia: Hey, Kheshannah!
Her: Hi! How did you get my number? And did you need something?
P: I'm your girlfriend's cousin, Patricia.
H: Oh! Did you need something?
P: My cousin is apparently keeping her mouth shut so I'll go ahead and invite you to go to Japan with us next week!
H: Is she okay with that? And I can't afford it, sorry.
P: No worries! You'll be covered!
H: You sure it's fine for her?
P: Yes! Next week, okay? Make sure to clear your schedule!
H: Thank you!
And the rest were just gossips of me. I'm hurt. Nah, joking aside, I get to spend three days in Japan with Kheshannah? We'd share the same room? Ah, share the same bathroom?
The thought of Kheshannah showing with me made my heart pound so loud in my chest. Can I hold myself back? Ah, I'm scared I might lose control.
"You think it's alright with me?"
"You almost sent me away when your secretary said it wasn't her." she gave me a smug look.
"Ugh, fine. Now, go away. I need to finish these."
"Have fun!"
She actually left me. She didn't dare to offer a helping hand. She does have a business to run. I bet she's as busy as I am.
Now that I get to be with Kheshannah for a couple of days, I have a drive that makes me want to finish. No wonder she's too busy, she's clearing her schedule for the trip.
I look at the clock and saw that it was already ten o'clock in the evening. Woah. How did that happen? I wipe my eyes softly, afraid to harm them, got up and gathered my things and then went home.
Another day has passed and nothing happened, except for me forgetting to eat every morning and evening. Well, this was my life before I met Kheshannah. I wish I could call her, tell her that I miss her but damn it, I want her to see me before I do all those things.
"You've been mumbling for a while."
I forgot that my secretary was here. What were we talking about again? Crap. I forgot.
"Sorry, been out of it lately."
"Soooo," she purposely slurred her word, as if saying something.
"Shut up."
"Whaaaat? I didn't say anything." she smiles as she sips on her morning coffee.
"So, in just two days, you'll be f*****g like rabbit, huh?"
I spewed my coffee which had already sprayed throughout the table and some on her. Her white blouse was now slightly ruined and it gave me such satisfaction to take my not planned revenge on her.
"Ah, damn it. This was new."
"Huh," I say nonchalantly.
I sip again on my coffee and smiled.
"Geez. You'll pay for this." she stands up and excuses herself.
I was glad that she already left. Her face constantly pops in my head with that stupid sentence. I had to prepare myself for the trip to Japan. Ah, s**t. I'm having a mental breakdown. What if the plane crashes and only I survive? How will I replace Kheshannah?
What if she gets kidnapped? Or worse, shot? Oh, f**k. See? This is why I don't like it when I start liking someone. It's like I'm already so attached to the point that I want to hire a personal bodyguard.
Speaking of bodyguard, the paparazzi has been laying low for a while even after the big announcement of me getting a girlfriend. Huh. I wonder.
I get everything I need for my trip to Japan. Paper work, contract, oh, and I'll have to buy those Japanese something. Hey, it's business. Even legal businesses have bribery.
I left the company early and went home. As I approach my house, I notice someone sitting there very pretty. As soon as I recognized that face and hair, my heart immediately went to a halt.
Her hair was shiny and it looked so smooth. Her flawless skin under the shade of my house looked oddly enticing. The wind suddenly went rough as it sways her hair to the side slightly. She looked like she came from a movie.
She took notice of me and smiled. She stands up as I park the car in front of her. I took a deep breath before exiting my car.
"Hey, why are you here?"
She didn't mind the things that I was carrying and kissed me full on the lips. She took her sweet time in kissing me, probably to make up for the last missed kisses.
"Why didn't you call me?"
A beautiful girl was outside my house, sitting and bored. She could at least call or just went straight to the office.
"Why would I? You didn't even call me." she turns her back against me and went straight to the door.
"I was as busy as you are."
"And as free as me right now?"
I follow her to the door.
"I still need to finalize some papers. The key's on the right pocket." she fishes out the key and went inside first.
She held the door for me as I walk inside. I set the papers on the living room table and threw myself on the sofa.
"You look tired."
"I had a pretty busy week." she goes to the kitchen and got me water.
I watch her as she makes her way towards me. Again, my heart halted at her satisfying beauty. If I want to not get my heart broken, I need to find flaws even if it's a little, I might start to dislike her and have a detached relationship again.
"You're thinner than I last saw you."
"No one gets thin that fast." she hands me tha water, "thank you." I accepted the water and chugged it down in one go.
A couple of minutes ago, I was drinking coffee. Oh yeah, I still had to eat lunch.
"You don't eat, do you?"
"Is there a problem with that?" she grabs the now empty glass and went to the kitchen.
She takes a seat beside me quite aggressively, showing me her dissatisfaction towards my non-existent eating habit.
"This was why I didn't want to rush my schedule."
I shake my head and leaned on the leather couch. I close my eyes and a sigh escaped. I feel her shift next to me.
I need to find a flaw fast. I'm falling deeper and deeper. I really feel awful. How am I going to go through this? What if when we have s*x, it's her ex she's going to call out? Or that she's doing to dream about? Oh, God. I know we can't control our dreams and I'm so f*****g petty right now.
Is this what love is all about? Getting petty? Angry over such small things? I hope not.
"Are you alright?" she grabs my arm rested her head on my shoulder.
I couldn't see but I feel her hair on my forehand.
"Yeah, I'm alright."
"You're so bad at talking."
"Depends if it's nonsensical or ignorant." she chuckles. God, even her chuckle is cute. I could already imagine her smile.
"This must be why you have no friends."
I stopped. Not that I was moving or something, but I opened my eyes and clenched my fists.
"I-I'm sorry." she looks at me but I was too deep in thought that I didn't look at her.
Friend, huh? The last time I got one was when she was still alive. Though I wonder if the other one is still alive.
"Jade? Jade?" she holds my hand making me return back to reality.
"Sorry, what was that?"
"A-are you hungry?" she was feeling uneasy, must be because she said something insensitive.
I gave her a timid smile and nodded.
"Okay. I'll cook you something."
I hummed in response. When she was already at the kitchen, I had remembered that I don't stock food in my refrigerator.
"Hey, you don't have any foo-" she walks back to me with a saddened expression but when she turned to look at me, her expression changed.
I was laughing.
"You did that on purpose, didn't you?"
"Don't blame me. I forget to stock every time."
"Let's go to the supermarket."
"What? Can't you go?"
"Is it my house?" she outsmarted me. Touché.
"Ugh, fine."
It was a comfortable silent ride to the supermarket. When we got there, we got a shopping cart and went inside. All I see were foods, mother, mother, baby, mother, father, and a fat greasy old man.
It's okay to be fat but please do maintain some dignity. It's a simple etiquette to follow.
"We need one of everything."
"What? Why?"
"Because you need to eat."
"That's- what?" she laughs at me.
"Ha! Got back at you."
I roll my eyes at her childishness- if that's even a word.
"Alright, r****h for 2 dollars, lettuce for 2.50, tomatoes for 1.75 and uhhh, how much- uhh," she stammer for the right answer.
"6.25," she states at me and I do the same. She blinks again. Was I too sudden?
"How did- what?"
"What?" she looks away immediately.
"It was easy math though?"
"Right," her voice went lower a bit. It was subtle but I had heard it. It was lower.
"Are you possibly weak at math?"
"Announce that to the world." she was being sassy. She loooked hot and sound hot.
"You don't have to be so sour about it." I pull her making her lose grip on the shopping cart and collided our bodies together.
I snake my hand on her flat stomach and whispered in her ear.
"I can't believe you're not good at something." and then I left her there and of course, grabbed the cart myself.
"Oh, my, so bold."
"Ah, to be young again."
"They look great together."
"I'm so thankful my wife forced me to go shopping."
"Apparently you're good at everything?" I hear her shout.
