Well that is the kind of steel it is made of. That’s a very hard wearing tool steel that you don’t see very many knives made out of. That kind of steel is used to make burrs and threading dies and punches and such with because it can cut softer steels. It’s kind of a semi hybrid form of stainless steel but I still need to keep a bit of oil on it. Easier to sharpen than a lot of stainless and holds that edge much longer.
