I woke up to someone's hand in my hair, caressing them. I frowned as I thought back to where I was but nothing come to mind. I felt someone shift beside me and felt a hand on my hand and they intertwined them. I got tensed and suddenly events from the night came rushing back to me. I quickly moved back and looked up to find Andrew's turquoise blue eyes staring back into mine. His eyes held some emotion that I couldn't put my finger on it. I looked at my hand, which was engulfed in his. His eyes followed mine and he freed my hand from his firm grip. I looked down and pushed the hair out of my face.
"Why did you sleep here?." His voice was deep and husky.
"You were having a nightmare yesterday night, I woke you up and then you grabbed my hand and asked me to stay. I couldn't free my hand from you so I thought I might sleep here." I told him in a single breath and then took a deep breath filling my air-deprived lung with air. Well, the last thing was a lie.
"Thank you." He moved his hand in his messy hair.
"It's okay." I smiled.
He smiled back and nodded.
"You can take a shower in that room." He said pointing towards the room across from the living room.
I stood up and walked limping towards the room. My knee was asleep from staying on the ground all night. The warm water flowed down my body as I was lost in the scent of shampoo which belonged to Andrew.
Sniff sniff
Hmm so good.
Suddenly realizing what I was doing, embarrassed I continue to shower while thinking of my next move. The bathroom is the place where most of my plans come into being here. I am not joking, seriously. It is peaceful and has all privacy to yourself- the best place to relax and think.
After showering, I walked out of the bathroom only in a towel. Remember I didn't bring my clothes. I huffed in annoyance, finding no other solution, I poked my head out of the door.
"Andrew!?." I shouted his name.
"What?." He appeared from the kitchen and continued to walk towards me and put his palm on the door and pushed it slightly and took in my towel figure. I stood there like a gauging fish with my eyes widened.
How easily he entered my personal space and is watching me wrapped up in only a towel!
"Can I borrow your clothes?. I didn't bring another with me." I said, shyly.
He looked up and down my figure. His stare didn't make me uncomfortably unlike others. He looked into my eyes and took a step in my direction. His stare triggered a fire to erupt within me which had died. Which was weird yet thrilling at the same time.
"Why did you help me?. You could have left." He asked, looking intensely into my eyes like he was searching for something.
"You took me in, sheltered me. This is the least I can do. And I also have a heart." I joked in the end and smiled.
His hand came up and he caressed my cheek. I leaned into his hand and looked at him. His eyes roamed over my face.
"You are so beautiful." He whispered, giving me a longing look.
I looked shocked at his outburst.
"Thank you, "I whispered as I was lost in his eyes.
He blinked and nodded walking out of the room. I stood there dazed.
What just happened?.
I heard footsteps I looked up as he was making his way towards me with clothes in his hands.
"Here." He passed me the clothes and went back into the kitchen, after throwing a glance in my way.
I changed back into his clothes and inhaled his lavender scent and went into the kitchen. He was eating bacon and there was another plate of bacon next to him. He simply pointed at the seat as he was chewing the food. Thanking him softly, I sat down on the seat and ate my breakfast in silence.
We ate our food in silence but it was comfortable as both were lost in their thoughts.
He was drinking his coffee as I was too. When I decided to talk to him about the dream.
"Andrew. I have something to ask you." I said, looking at him.
"Sure." He put his mug down and gave me his full attention.
"When you were having a dream yesterday night and I woke you up. You said something." I looked for his expression.
"W-hat did I say?." His expression changed from calm to tense. His fists closed tightly and he gulped audibly.
"You said Sophia, why did you deceive me. And you trusted her. Who is she?." I left out the love part.
"No one." He said through his grinding teeth. His tone was harsh and his stare got colder.
He was lying to me. How dare he! Well, I was lying to him too but this is different. I don't know why it was irritating me, I just want to get rid of this feeling.
I narrowed my eyes at him and used my spell on him, he got tensed and his eyes looked cloudy.
"Who is Sophia?." I asked him
"She was a rogue and my mate." He said, monotonously
I was shocked at the revelation.
"What happened to her?." I asked him instead how she deceive him. It was a personal question and I don't want to hear it from him with the help of my powers.
"I killed her." My mouth hung open as I look at him.
What the hell?.
Now I felt bad asking him about this. I just got curious and asked him. It was a wrong move.
I broke my spell and shake his shoulder and pretended to be concerned about him.
"Andrew?. Are you okay?." I asked him
He blinked and looked confused. He looked at me and nodded. I retreat my hand into my lap.
"I am sorry. I shouldn't have asked about that Sophia girl." I said, looking guilty.
"It's okay. It's just personal and I don't like to talk about it." He said, looking away.
I nodded.
"I am going away with Cole for a meeting in my neighbouring pack. You can sleep here. I will be back tomorrow and thank you again". He gave me a small smile and went upstairs.
I washed the plates and cleaned the kitchen. I took a seat on the sofa in the living room, thinking about what should I do next. Andrew came into the living room dressed up in a suit. He looked hot and handsome. I slowly take in his appearance. My eyes meet his, and his lips were turned into a smirk. He knew I was checking him out. I smiled shyly.
"I am going now. And don't wander off at night, alone. Stay safe." He said, with a serious look.
I smiled and nodded. He smiled and went away. I sighed and closed my eyes, a smile playing on my face. I was playing with fire. It was wrong but I couldn't stop these feelings. After some time, I went to the packed building and did my duty. Kids were happily playing around the field. After finishing my dinner, I excused myself with the excuse that I was going out to get fresh air and wandered around the pack aimlessly. When it was late in the night, carefully examining my surroundings, I started looking for the path beside the cemetery that leads to rogues. It was dark outside and no one was there. I quickly released my black wings from my shoulder blades, and my skin itched a bit, as I was freeing them after a long time. I was sure my shirt has holes in the back but not caring about it, I assenced in the sky.
My wings shone in the moonlight as they flapped around me. I started moving higher in the air and looked around the perimeter once again confirming that no one was there. The place was clear as crystal, so I moved forward and looked down as trees were becoming thin and thin and I saw a large metal door alongside the border, which was the gate of the pack and a few guards were guarding it. I moved forward and looked around carefully as I was out of Andrew's pack. After moving several miles, I saw a large fire and a large number of wolves surrounding the fire and that part of the jungle.
I hid behind tall and thick tree bushes, I placed my foot on its branch and contracted my wings. Not wanting to attract any attention to me by mistake. I quietly moved the leaves away from my face to see them closely. Wolves were everywhere in that place. Some were training and some were eating and talking. Wolves included males, females and kids. Males were well built. They looked ruthless, the way they were training. One male was throwing punches after punches against his opponent, while the people cheered. These were rogues. I stayed there for a while, watching them. They looked like normal wolves, but in reality, they weren't. Like it's said, never judge a book by its cover. I was angry at them for hurting Andrew, Cole, Lisa and others. I have become very close to them as they have. I considered them my family and felt their pain. I tried looking for the leader but wasn't able to point him out among the crowd.
One day, you will regret what you started.
I threw one last glance their way as they laughed and joked, freeing my wings, I quickly flew away from that place. I kept roaming idly in the air in Andrew's pack, careful not to be seen. After some time, I started to feel tired and decided to walk back home. When I reached Andrew's house, a phone was ringing. I followed the voice and reached the office and picked up the phone.
"Hello?"
"Where have you been!? I have been calling you for some time!" Andrew's angry voice blasted throw the speakers.
"I was outside," I said softly, confused as I took a seat on the sofa and one hand under my head.
"Outside? What were you doing outside?"
"Just taking fresh air. So do you need anything?" He was testing my patience.
"Why would I need anything?"
"You called because..?" I scowled but controlled myself.
It was silent for a few minutes.
Okay, that's it.
I opened my mouth to speak but he beat me up to it.
"I.. just wanted to know how were you doing." His voice was a whisper but soft at the same time. I felt hundreds of butterflies erupt in my tummy.
There goes my heart.
"I am good. How was the meeting?". I smiled.
"Tense. The rogues have been causing many problems in the neighbouring packs and have killed many wolves."
"We need a plan to attack them. We can't just sit and watch our people die. I want to help you guys. I don't want my pack members to be hurt in any way." The words rolled off my lips of their own accord.
"Manakel." After a moment of silence, he calls out my name with so much love.
"Yes?". I said confused.
"You are really beautiful inside and out. Your mate was so lucky to have you." He said and sighed. It was sweet yet weird.
What is his intention?
Okay?. What was he trying to say? I questioned myself.
"Andrew, what are you trying to say?".
"Nothing. Go to bed it's late. I will be back in the evening. Take care." And he cut the call before I could say anything. I looked at the phone, confused as hell.
That was weird.
.....................................................
The next morning, I got up early and went to pay a quick visit to rogues before anyone woke up for training. I stopped a bit far away from the gate and looked around. Seeing no one was there, I freed my wings. As I was about to lift myself in the air, I heard low growls and paws hitting the dry leaves on the ground. I quickly contracted my wings back into my shoulder and moved towards the voices silently. I turned to my left and saw two wolves- rogues, coming this way. Using my powers, I let the heavy branches of the surrounding trees fall on them. They growled, yelped and one got under the branches. While the other pounced at me, making me fall to the ground with him above me. He was fast and aggressive. I protected my face as he attacked my face, his claws dug into my skin of the forearm, piercing it. I bit my lip from crying out in pain, I swing my leg and hit his back hard. He yelped and jumped away from me. My arm was bleeding badly, blood dripping on the ground. I looked up to find both of the wolves running to attack me. My wings sprung out, lifted myself in the air using my power, I let the ground swallow them up. They fell into the hole and the ground came back into its real shape. Like there was no sign of them ever.
"Manakel!?." I heard Archies voice ring through the jungle.
I descended to the ground quickly and, contracted my wings as I heard footsteps near me.
"Manakel!."
I turned around to find Archie, Kevin and some others.
"Oh god. What happened to you!?."Archie said, coming towards me. Grabbing my bleeding hand, inspecting the injury.
"Some rogues attacked me," I told him as others looked around the area.
"Where are they now?." Kevin asked.
"After I attacked them, they ran away. Both of them were badly beaten. I didn't let them run away just like that. I kicked their asses." I winked and hissed at the same time as Archie touched my wound.
"That's my girl," Archie said, bumping his elbow against mine
"I ain't your girl," I remarked and Archie hold his hands up in the air, surrendering.
"Come on, let's go back quick and treat your wound," Kevin said, looking down at my b****y hand which had started to heal.
"Anyway, what the hell you were doing here?. I told you it's f*******n to come here". Archie said, as we started to walk back, his tone held anger and disappointment.
"I was going towards the training field, but then I heard growls and I went to see. So I saw two rogues coming this way, I decided to fight them." I said shrugging.
"But you could have gotten hurt," Kevin said, looking at me in concern.
"I am fine. I wanted to help, after all this is my pack too. And I am a hard nut to crack." I smiled at them.
They smiled and nodded. Looked at me proudly.
We reached Andrew's house and I was shocked to find Andrew standing outside with Cole, who was pacing in front of the house. Kevin and Archie cursed beside me and tensed. Upon hearing our footsteps they looked up, Andrew looked furious and Cole was wearing a concerned expression.
"Where the hell were you!?" Andrew yelled as he came toward me. His beautiful eyes had turned a darker shade of blue as they glared at me.
"Drew, this is not the time for this. She is bleeding." Cole said, coming beside him.
Andrew's jaw was clenched as he continued to look at me. His eyes held pain, fear, anger and ....care?.
"Cole, Archie and Kevin go search every piece of the land and report me. Everyone dismiss."
Everybody left leaving me and him alone. He came forward and gently grabbed my injured arm and led me inside the house. He made me sit on the sofa in the living room and came back with some wipes and ointment. He was silent all the time as he treated me. While I looked at him, intensely.
Why is he treating me with so much care?.
His long black lashes touch the floor of his cheeks. Hiding his beautiful turquoise blue eyes that engulfed me into another world. His soft fingers worked on my arm. His touch soothed me. After finishing work on my arm, he walked into the kitchen and came back with a glass of water. He came to stand in front of me and looked at me as he passed me the glass. I take the glass from him and drank it.
"What were you doing there?". He asked me, in a calm and composed way. Silence before storm.
"I was going towards the training field, but then I heard growls and I went to see. So I saw two rogues coming this way, I decided to fight them." I repeated the same thing to him.
His eyes narrowed and his lips set up in a straight line.
"You could have called for help ."
"I am capable of protecting myself. I don't need anybody's help. And I was protecting my pack." I stood up and said it, looking into his eyes.
"I know you are strong and are capable of protecting yourself. But I was worried about you. My heart stopped beating for a second when I saw you there standing in front of me with a bleeding hand. " He said, caressing my cheek.
"You.. were worried about..me?." I asked him, confused.
"Yes. So much." He whispered, coming r to me than he was before.
His turquoise-blue eyes stared intensely into my amber ones. My heart picked its speed unable to keep my cool now.
He dipped his head down to reach my height, his arms wrapping around my waist, pulling me into his warm chest. His other hand caressed my cheek and then my neck and kept it there. He moved forward and keep looking into my eyes, thinking I might stop him when I made no move on pushing him away. I felt like my heart was about to burst. He captured my lips. His lips were soft and the kiss was passionate. Full of emotions. He was telling me he cares about me and was worried for me through the kiss. I wrapped my arms around his waist. I never felt so relaxed and loved in someone's arms as I felt in Andrew's. I wanted to live in this moment forever and forget about the f*******n rule.
