I woke up to the sound of continuous banging on the door.
"Wake up!." I heard someone yell.
I rubbed my eyes to remove sleep from them and stretched my legs and arms.
"Hello!?." An impatient girly voice came from the other side of the door.
I patted my hair to look somehow neat and opened the door to find the same redhead from the previous day. She stood with a look of annoyance with her long fingers rested upon her thin waist.
"Hey."
"Good morning, princess." She rolled her eyes.
"Get ready and come down." She said, passing me a pile of clothes and going away.
She is so weird. Well, everyone was except Lisa and Janet.
I took a shower and changed into the clothes she lend me. They were comfortable and kept me warm in the cold weather. After washing my face with a soap which was given to me, I wiped my face with the hem of the shirt, a habit of mine. I looked around the dressing table and found a hairbrush on the dressing table and brushed my tangled hair. I went downstairs and heard loud voices coming from the kitchen. I walked in and found pack members sitting on a large table eating and talking. They didn't acknowledge me. I met Lisa's hazel eyes and they twinkled with emotion, I couldn't put my finger on them.
"Come here, dear. Take a seat." Lisa's comment made everyone at the table silent.
Everyone turned their heads to look at me, a few were bothered and continued eating. I found the redhead and the blond man glaring at me.
I simply ignored everyone, especially them. And walked over to where Lisa was standing.
"Good morning Lisa. How are you feeling?." I greeted her with a smile and kissed her cheek.
"I am good dear. Thank you for asking. Did you sleep well?." She asked and cupped my cheek in her right palm.
She reminds me of my mother. God, I miss my mom.
"Yes. I had a good sleep. Do you need help with that?." I asked her as she was holding a spatula.
"Oh no, dear. Please take that seat and eat." She smiled and pointed at the seat which was between Kevin and some other guy, who was looking at me curiously.
Everyone was silent and kept looking at us. I walked towards the empty seat and planted myself on it.
"Hey, Kevin." I greeted Kevin, and he looked surprised at first but quickly gave me a small smile in return.
Everyone started to eat and talk again.
I ate my food quietly, I could feel their eyes on me. But I kept to myself and enjoyed eating the delicious bacon. After finishing the food, I stood up from my seat and took my plate, walked toward Lisa and Janet. Who was talking to some other woman? Once again, everyone stopped talking and I could feel their laser eyes on me.
"Hello, Janet," I said,
"Hello dear. You good?." She asked.
I nodded and walked toward the sink but this time she took my plate and shook her head.
"Manakel. You don't need to do it. We don't let our guests do chores."
"Oh please. She is no guest of ours. She should leave now. I don't get why Alpha allowed her to stay here." The redhead said.
What the hell was her problem?. God, why everyone was acting like a b***h.
"Scarlett!. Watch your mouth lady!. She is a guest and she is not leaving. Show some respect, she is one of us. Not an enemy." Lisa said and Janet nodded her head in agreement.
"Oh really!?. Why are you taking her side?. Did she bribe you or what?. She could be a rogue!. This is not her pack. She needs to leave. Stop treating her like a f*****g princess!." The redhead shouted. Her face was red with shouting.
"Who are you to make decisions?. Last time I checked, you are a pack member, not Alpha." I heard Andrew's loud voice ring in the kitchen.
Everyone stood up from their seats and bowed in respect. I followed quickly and bowed my head.
"Ten rounds of the pack as punishment. And Scarlett, if I saw you showing disrespect to Lisa or anyone here, you will find yourself in the dungeon. Understood?." Andrew said his voice firm. Eyes held no mercy even for his pack.
He walked towards her, the sound of heavy steps made everyone hold their breath. I found this interesting and tried not to show my emotions. Scarlett glared at me and ground her teeth.
I frowned. What did I do?.
"I said Understood!?." Andrew shouted and growled. The veins popped up on his tan skin as he closed his fists hard.
Everyone took a step back from the power he was radiating, even my heartbeat picked up slightly.
"U-understood. I am sorry, Alpha." She said, looking down at her feet. She was visibly shaking in her feet.
"I don't need your sorry. You need to say sorry to Lisa." He said,
"S-sorry Lisa." She stuttered and walked out of the door, sobbing.
"I need you in my office. Now!." Andrew said, pointing a finger in my direction, narrowing his eyes at me.
He left the house along with Cole.
"Lisa. I am sorry. I don't know what I did, that she acted like that. I am sorry. I never wanted this to happen." I took her hands in mine. I said loudly so everyone could hear me feel guilty about the situation.
I felt bad, for Lisa. Scarlett was a b***h. If she was angry at me, she should have taken it out on me. Why dragging Lisa.
"Dear, it's not your fault. You have done nothing wrong. She is.... just stressed." Lisa said, patting my back.
"Okay. If you say so. I should go, or else Alpha Andrew will kill me." I joked and she laughed.
"Kevin. Will you take me there?." I asked as I reached him where he was standing talking to a few men.
"Sure." He nodded to others and we walked outside.
We walked silently to Andrew's house. The word must have spread about Alpha letting a girl stay in the pack. The people stopped what they were doing and talked among themselves as we passed the houses. Ignoring their judgemental gazes and harsh words, I kept walking.
He opened the door and stood beside it.
"You aren't coming in?." I asked.
"No. I have some work to finish." He said pointing his thumb behind him.
"Oh. Okay, Thank you and Bye." I said, walking into the house.
I took the stairs and knocked on the door, and could hear voices inside. Upon knocking, I heard the shuffling of some papers and footsteps neared the door.
"Come in," Cole said, coldly as he opened the door.
I slipped past him and looked at Andrew. He was standing in the middle of the room, with his arms crossed over his chest and his eyes met mine. Cole came and stood beside me.
"You can join the pack. And if I find any single wrong move, consider yourself out of this land. Cole will show you your room in the pack house. You have to do chores just like other females. Lisa will help you. He will explain the rest." Andrew said, taking a step towards me.
"Thank you. Alpha Andrew. I am very grateful for this. I promise I won't cause problems in the pack and consider this pack my family." I said, bowing my head in respect.
Well, that was easy. And here I was thinking I might have to use my persuading power.
"You have already caused," Cole murmured beside me.
"I-i didn't do anything. I didn't even talk to anyone. I was just going to wash my plate. Nothing else. You can ask Lisa." I explained to him, making my eyes wide trying to show him my innocence.
"You don't need to explain. Lisa already told me." Andrew said, nodding his head in understanding.
Cole was still scowling at me. I frowned in question.
Now what?
"And I am saying this again." He said walking up to me.
I could inhale his lavender scent, which oddly calmed me down.
"If I find you causing trouble or harming my pack members, you will have to face the consequences." He whispered, his breath tickling my ear and side of the neck, making me shiver.
His deep low voice chilled me. I gulped and nodded.
He kept looking at me and I diverted my eyes and looked down at my feet.
"You can go now." He said, walking back to his table and picking up his phone.
"Come on," Cole said as he walked towards the door.
I followed him down the stairs and outside. I saw children playing, running after each other. Giggling, laughing in their beautiful world devoid of the situation, they are in. Away from all the stress, and fears of the rouges. I wish, they remain like this. Happily ever after.
"What are you waiting for!?." Cole growled at me.
I wanted to kick him on the manhood.
I started walking behind him, taking in the surrounding us. I looked at the houses and saw mothers with their kids. In one house, I saw a man kissing her lady. I smiled at them.
Love is so beautiful. I hope one day, I will experience it too.
We went inside the house and towards the kitchen. As usual, Lisa was there, cutting carrots.
"Hello, Lisa. I am going to live here." I moved toward her and hugged her.
"That's great news, Manakel." She hugged me back and smiled at me.
"Mom, I am hungry. Feed me." Cole said, walking towards us and kissing her cheek.
"H-he is your son!." I looked at them.
She had black hair and black eyes.
"Yes, dear. My idiotic son." She said, pinching his cheek and he shrieked.
I smiled at their affection.
"Do you want something?." She asked.
"Yes. Your sandwiches." I said, quickly and with a big smile.
She laughed at me and beamed. I took a seat on the chair and pulled my hair into a loose braid.
"You have to be in the field for training at exact 7. Not a second above that." Cole said as he took a seat beside me.
I nodded my head. Right now I hated his guts.
"And my mom will tell you what work you have to do." He said,
I nodded again and kept looking at Lisa as she worked. I could feel his eyes on me, but I didn't turn to look at him.
"Here eat." She passed plates to us.
I dig into my sandwiches and moaned as the deliciousness of the food touched my taste buds.
"I love them," I said as I chewed.
"Thank you, dear. Learn something from her, Cole." She narrowed her eyes at him as he ate.
"What?. Don't I tell you how much I love your cooking?. " he said, frowning.
"Sure you do." She rolled her eyes and smiled.
"Manakel your duty is to watch kids as they play outside in the jungle and bake anything every day." She said.
"Okay. I love playing with kids and baking too. Thank you for this." I said, pointing at the empty plate where sandwiches were there before.
"Your welcome dear."
I washed my dish, i heard several footsteps coming down. People were coming to have dinner, it was best to leave. Not everyone was happy with my stay here. I walked outside the house and sat on the porch to watch the sky, a light breeze was blowing which reminded of the sky back at my home. The sun was touching the horizons illuminating beautiful pattern on the sky. I heard loud voices, talking, laughing, clattering of spoons against the plates. Kids whining and giggling. I smiled lightly and sighed.
I missed my family. My parents. Gabriel, Charmeine, Ariel, Nathaniel and i used to sit at the table throwing jokes, teasing each other. Ariel and Nathan married before i came here. They were perfect for each other. Gabby liked Charm but hates to admit that. While, Charm has a huge crush on him. Well, i am hooting for them. They were made for each other. I could see it. The chemistry between them. The attraction. But they both are stubborn to admit that they had feelings for each other. I wish i get to like someone after__
"Manakel?." I was cut off from my thoughts.
I looked up to find Archie standing there holding two cups.
"Archie. What are you doing here.?" I asked.
"Well, as i live here so i think i should be here. Right?." He joked and took a seat beside me.
I smiled and shook my head at him.
"Here. I brought coffee. I saw you sitting here alone, so thought i might give you some company. If you don't mind." He said, as he put the cups between us.
"No i dont mind." I gave him a smile.
"So what were you thinking about before i came here?." He asked
"I was thinking about my family. I miss my parents, cousins and friends." I said, looking up at the dark sky.
"Oh."
Silenece fell between us.
"I am sorry, Manakel. The way people acted coldly with you. Its just that after the attack, we dont trust any outsider." He said, looking at me, his eyes held pain.
Soon i am going to find what happened that day. Which affected them so badly.
"No need to say sorry Archie. You have been nice to me and yeah, others have given me a cold shoulder but i know, they will warm up to me."
"They will. They are nice at heart. Just protective of the pack." He said, giving me a smile.
"Do you have siblings?." I asked.
"Yes. Lialah and Jason. Jason is 17 and Lialah is 13." He had a smile on his face. I took a sip of my coffee.
"Tell me about yourself." He said, looking at the steam which was leaving the cup.
"Well. I like to sing. My favourite color is turquoise blue." I told him.
Suddenly I remebered Andrew's eyes.
"Sing me a song." He looked at me, his chocolate eyes held warmth. A smile playing on his lips.
"In your dreams. Archie. In your dreams." I smirked and drank my coffee.
"You wont be singing in my dream. But--" He stopped and smirked at me.
"But what?." I asked him confused.
"But you will be screaming my name when I will be f*****g the brains out of you." He said, wiggling his eyebrows at me.
"f**k you Archie!." I punched him on the shoulder, hard.
"Ow. You hit like a man. f**k!. That hurts!." He pouted and rubbed his shoulder.
"Then stop saying shit." I rolled my eyes at him.
"Admit it. You like it." He whispered, biting his lip, winked at me, trying to look seductive but failed miserably and instead of winking he blinked his both eyes rapidly, pretending to look sexy but he looked like a whale doing it.
"You look pathetic. Stop it." I said through laugh.
"Really?. Well at least i got a smile out of you. But next time i will improve it." He smiled.
"Thank you Archie. For coffee and for making me laugh, even though you are disgusting" I said, chuckling patting him on the shoulder as i stood up.
"Come on, lets get inside. Its pretty late and we should sleep now." I said, blowing air into my hands to make them warm.
"Yeah your are right. Time files by." He said, giving me a small smile.
I nodded my head in agreement and together we made our way inside.
