There was a silver lining to the unsettling experience of having my house broken into in the middle of the night because of my sister's reckless behavior. At least, I could avoid the dreaded conversation with my parents the next morning, where they would undoubtedly grill me about my sister's foolishness, my own involvement, and why I hadn't shared the truth with them immediately.
