Sitting on my barstool, sipping cosmos like they were the most refreshing grape soda, I put in all my efforts to catch Ace's attention. I fidgeted on the stool, crossing and uncrossing my legs, playfully twirled a cocktail straw, and tossed my hair for good measure, trying to subtly show my interest. However, as I watched him eat and casually fiddle with his phone, he seemed completely oblivious to my attempts at charm. When he finally settled his tab, gracefully slid out of the booth, and indicated his departure, a wave of devastation washed over me. At that moment, I felt genuinely heartbroken.
