350 Words
Joseph " So brother, let me get this straight.......in this new firm...." I adored my sister Sarah but when she started talking about my law firm for the nth time, I began to think of ways that being violent with an annoying sibling could be made legal. ".......... I mean brother, both you and your friends........you will only deal with divorce cases. I thought that you, at least might be more daring.....like you know, get criminals convicted and........." " Thank you, Sarah, but I think that I am...... " " I know that you are more informed. I know that you spent time at our maternal grandfather's law firm when you were a child.........but seriously....you know that you must think carefully before diving into this industry. " I never realized that my sister had the gift of the gab. " Brother.....are you listening........don't tell me that........" " Sarah, I am listening to your nonsense very carefully. " " You are the one who speaks nonsense. By the way, what are the odds of you winning against some top prosecutors in the country? " " Higher than you becoming the next 'Van Gogh' or the next........." " You're being rude, brother. There is no need to compare my beautiful world of art to your dark and dreary world where black ink printed on paper makes one want to sleep. Your world is........" " Sarah............." " What............don't try to do something funny....... I will call my old man, and he will punish you......" " Daddy......." As my sister rushed upstairs to bring our father to support her, I sat down. I knew that I had a few moments of quiet before the demon returned. I loved my sister, who was growing up into a beautiful young woman now. She was already eighteen and would be joining college soon. I knew that I would miss her but joining college, growing up and carving your own niche............all these were very important. I was scared but also hopeful. I wanted her to do well, and I knew that when she left I would miss her.
