6 We chatted the night away in front of Judith’s warm fire, and when our eyes wouldn’t stay open we hit the hay on a bed of soft blankets and pillows. The long traveling and excitement of the late evening meant I slept like the dead. There was, however, an interruption to my bliss. At some late hour, well past the time when the fire ceased to burn, a noise awoke me. My eyes fluttered unwillingly open and I scanned the room. All was quiet and still, and there was nary a peep out of my bed mates. Movement outside one of the windows caught my attention. A shadow flitted past the glass.
