Chapter Two Rescued by a Stranger

“His right, Cass,” Tricia added with a smile “You’re too delicate for a legal battle with a Fuller and you know my family is powerful as well. For the sake of our friendship, drop it okay? Who knows, I might be kind enough to let you marry one of my numerous cousins or even my brother,”.
“Very funny, Tricia,” Cass raised her brows in amusement. “You underestimate me a lot because you feel I do not have the power or the money but you’ve got no idea,”.
“Now, if you’ve got nothing more to say,” Liam’s lips hovered over Tricia’s “Leave us,”.
“Of course, I’ll leave and as a matter of emphasis, the marriage is over, Liam. But I’ve got loads of evidence,”.
The pair turned to look at me again. I could see doubt and fear in their eyes and I felt powerful for the first time. It was evident that they were trying so hard to believe that I had no evidence against them.
“While both of you were frolicking on the bed and having the time of your life,” I pulled out my phone from where it was lodged at the back of my pocket and flashed it at them “I took very clear pictures and videos, so your publicists won’t be stressed with debunking blurred photos or videos,”.
Liam opened his mouth to talk but no words came out, Tricia on the other hand was trembling with fear which delighted me the more.
“Liam, you’re the General Manager of Apex Co while you, Tricia,” I wagged a finger at her “You just got your movie debut and everyone loves you. I wonder what they’ll do when this goes out. Remember, I am just Cassidy Hart, a daughter of a nobody. Imagine what the public will do when they find out. The scandal… the shame…” I trailed off.
“W-what do you want?” Liam barked as his eyes darted between my face and the phone I had in my hand. “Tell me what the f**k you want b***h?” he screamed.
“Oh, dearest ex-fiancée” I cackled “I want nothing from you. Not today, not tomorrow, not forever but you see this piece of evidence here,” I waved the phone “I’ll make sure I destroy the both of you for doing this to me,”.
In a flash, Tricia was up from the bed and ran to me naked. She tried to snatch the phone but at the dying minute, I turned my hand and raised it above my head making her dig her long nails into my arms.
In retaliation, I slapped her across her cheek, feeling my palms sting at the aftermath.
“Don’t just sit there,” she held her smarting cheek as she yelled at Liam who was still on the bed “Don’t let her leave,”.
In one swift motion, Liam crossed the room where I was and grabbed a fistful of my hair pinning me to one side as he tried to reach for the phone.
I yelped in pain and instinctively brought my knee up so it connected with Liam’s groin. Liam growled out obscenities and immediately let go of my hair. Without thinking, I ran towards the door and dashed out of the room.
It’ll take at least five minutes, at most three if they’re fast for both of them to get dressed and come after me. My heart was beating in both excitement and fear as I raced to the elevator but it was occupied.
By this time, I saw, Tricia come through the door of their room as she tried to guess the direction I had gone. I knew I had to hide from them. At this point, I’ll be killed if they ever catch me. I darted towards the other side of the elevator and continued towards the long corridor.
“Cass,” Tricia’s voice echoed in the hallway “Come back here she demanded.
I quickened my steps and began going from door to door, turning each knob. All the doors were locked and Tricia was gaining in on me. Almost losing hope, the tenth door knob gave way and I dashed in and turned the door in its lock.
I leaned against the door with my chest heaving as I took deep restorative breaths. My eyes scanned the room, glad that it was empty. Pushing away from the door, I noticed for the first time that the long white dress I had on was torn. The dress was torn from the edge till almost my crotch.
“f**k!” I screamed in annoyance.
There was no way I could escape looking like this – almost naked. I reached for both torn seams and tried to tie them together when I noticed a pair of manicured feet in a pair of white slippers.
I screamed in surprise as I landed on the ground. He had the most beautiful pair of Amber eyes that was almost auburn that I have ever seen. He was sitting on the sofa, clad in only a bathroom, a cup of coffee in one hand and a book that he set on the space beside him.
I gaped openly at his alluring eyes staring at me blankly. His sculpted jawline framed soft lips that were currently pressed in disdain. His Greek nose connected to his well carved brows that were furrowed into a deep frown. His hair was closely cut to his skull finishing off his perfect look.
There was something about the way he was staring at me that exuded, class and elegance. Even his tan was the right shade.
“Unless you’re the janitor, get out!” he said firmly.
I tore my eyes from him trying to remember why I was in his room for the first time.
“I’m sorry for coming in this way,” I started “I was trying to escape from someone but I’ll be gone as soon as they leave,”.
“And how is that my business? Besides, how did you get in?” he arched his brow.
“Please, I beg you sir,” I rubbed my palms together… “I can’t risk going out until the danger is passed and the door was open, so I walked right in,”.
His expression was blank as he studied me “Is your life truly in danger?” He asked.
“Yeah,” I nodded unable to tear my gaze from him.
“Then stay,” his eyes shone with amusement “You can stay as much as you want but first, come here,” the long fingers crooked towards my direction as he beckoned to me.
Without thinking, I scrambled to my feet and went towards him.
“I-Is there something you want me to do for you?” I asked.
He didn’t say anything instead he rose to his feet closing the space between us. I felt my knees weaken as his left hand circled my waist and pulled me closer to him.
“W-what are you doing?” I protested weakly.
“Doing what I should have done earlier,” he whispered
And without warning, his mouth captured my lips…
