"What are you doing here, Jemma?" I asked my friend when we broke away from hugging each other.
"We heard about the assassins entering your courtyard. We learned that your maid was killed while defending you," Jemma answered. "I know that what happened to Beth hurts you, so I was very worried. I begged Alpha Jacob that if possible, I would replace Beth as your maid."
I strongly shook my head at her. "No, Jemma. Being with me will only put your life in danger. I don't want you to end up like what happened to Beth. I will never forgive myself if you will die because of me."
I wiped my tears and quickly distanced myself from Jemma when Alpha Jacob entered my room.
