Chapter 3

I sent Asher to the room he was going to stay for tonight. I can’t remove his image of him kissing my hand from my head. I did not expect him to be so forward. Not to mention, why does he look so perfect? Like a character straight from a fairy tale. I think my heart just skipped a beat for a moment. I can’t explain it but I don’t totally hate it. This is just new to me. From the capital it will take Maia three days to return home. I wonder if it's raining in the Capital too. I hope she’s doing fine. She’s a strong willed person and unlike me, I know he can survive at the Capital. She has always been the bravest between the two of us.

I need to sleep early because I need to send Sir Asher home. I mean if the rain will stop I need to let him go. I can’t let him stay here until Maia comes back. It will cause a scene. Maia will surely scold me if she hears about this. I sighed.  I wonder if we are going to meet again after I leave this place. Leaving everything behind pains me. If Sir Asher and I meet again in the future I will be happy. For now, I need to sleep!

As I woke up, Immediately got ready and changed my dress. I need to do everything on my own since Maia is not here. Usually she wakes me up and prepares the food in the morning. I used to help my Mother in preparing food too. Whenever I remember those moments I smile bitterly. I was afraid that I was taking longer than I expected so I rushed towards Mr. Asher’s room and knocked. Did he leave already?

“Good Morning, are you up?” I asked and I didn’t hear a reply. “Asher, are you there?” I knocked again. I wonder if he’s doing fine. Is he still sleeping? The sun is up, should I wake him up? “It’s almost time for you to go. Can I come in?” I asked again. Am I being rude when asking that? Still, he’s not responding to me.

Again there is no reply. I sighed and decided to open the door. “Please.. Excuse me..” I peeked inside and I saw Asher lying in bed. He’s naked?! I blushed.

I was about to close the door out of embarrassment when I heard him groan. Is he in pain? Something must have happened.

I rushed towards him and I saw that he’s blushing hard. I placed my hand on his forehead and he’s burning hot. He has a fever? It must be because of the sudden rain last night. I didn’t give him any spare clothing last night. This is partly my fault! I don’t have any men's clothes in this house. It can’t be helped. This is rather unexpected. I feel bad for not checking him up last night!

“Sir Asher! Can you hear me?” I said and he slowly opened his eyes and met mine. I can see that he’s trying to look at me straight but he’s having a hard time. This is bad. This is so bad! I’m starting to panic now.

“Please hang in there!” I said and rushed to the kitchen and prepared a damp cloth. First I need to lower his body temperature. I need to give him water so he won’t get dehydrated. Good thing I still have the ingredients for vegetable soup. This will help him regain his strength. Why am I stressing over this? My heart is racing right now. I wonder if I can treat him like this. Please Celeste be calm!

I was blushing when I saw him half naked. I wonder if he saw my reaction. I feel really embarrassed right now but I have to treat him. I can’t leave him like that. There’s no time for acting like a kid. He’s a visitor and not to mention a noble! I need to treat him. I’m sure someone is searching for him since he stayed here overnight. I just need to wait until someone searches for him. That’s right. Right now treating him is my first priority!

I went back carrying a bowl of warm water and cloth so I could put it on his forehead and clean him. I also cooked soup for him. I wonder if he’ll eat it.

“Sir Asher, can you sit up?” I said and put the tray on his side table. “I cooked a veggie soup for you.” I said and he quickly tried to sit. He groaned and put his hand on his head.

I blushed when his muscular figure showed. This man is screaming charisma! His dark messy hair, deep blue eyes and body of perfection is driving me crazy! How can he look like he's a prince straight from a fantasy book that I’ve read? I need to calm myself for real! I can’t believe I am focusing on such nonsense things! If the Gods are playing with me right now they really know how to tease me!

“I’m sorry for troubling you like this. Name anything that I can repay you for your kindness.” He said and I shook my head.

“I really don’t need anything.” I said and he looked shocked. Doing things like this is natural. My mother used to treat people that were lost in this forest too. She taught me that if I can reach my hands to those people who need me then I should.

“What?” he muttered. Did he not hear me correctly?

“I’m doing this on my own will. You don’t need to repay me.” I said and he was dumbfounded.

“You are saying that you are doing this because you want to? You’re strange.” He said and blushed. Strange? Is it strange to help someone in need? He’s the one who’s strange. It’s natural for people to help others is it not?

“You need to eat.” I said and gave him a spoon. His hands are shaking and it’s hard for him to get a spoon full of soup. It’s getting hard for me to watch his hands shaking and messing over some food. He was having a hard time. What should I do? If this continues the floor will have more food than his stomach.

I sighed and grabbed the spoon from him, “L-Let me do it.” I said and blushed. What is happening to me? I need to relax. This is the first time I’m feeling a man.. a total stranger!

He was staring at me while I fed him. His stare is melting me. He looks like he’s harmless right now. This scene is like I was feeding a child. It’s a relief that he’s not being picky and just follows what I tell him to do. He was looking at me intently. He’s like watching everything that I am doing. His amazing blue eyes are captivating.

“You’re such a beauty.” He said out of the blue. What? Did I hear that right? Did he just compliment me? I smiled.

“Oh.. Uhm thank you.” I said and fixed the tray so I could go.

“Do you have a man in your life right now?” he asked. I froze. What does he think he’s asking me? Is he asking if I have a lover? This man is crazy. You don’t ask a woman as straightforward as that! I sighed. I just need to answer him right?

“No. To be honest Sir, you are the first man I have taken care of.” I said and he was shocked. I looked at him and for the first time he grinned at me. Do I look like a nurse who treats people because I wanted to? He was just like that. I took care of him personally.

“That’s great.” He said and I was a little confused. What is it that makes him grin like that? I turned around and gathered the bowl and towel so I could put them back in the kitchen and prepare another one.

“May I know your reason for asking?” I said and stood up to clean the table.

“I was worried that you have someone since you’re so beautiful. I don’t want to have a rival in your heart.” He said and I quickly turned to him. Did I hear him right? Did he really say rival to my heart? I looked at him and he was not smiling. He’s serious.

“What?” I replied.

“You see, I want to have you as my wife.” He said and it feels like the world became silent.
