Chapter 9: Manor

Chapter 9

We arrived at the Amaranth residence. Both Maia and I were surprised by how big it was. I know that my father is rich but I did not expect that he’s super rich! The gates are high and security is tough. When we reached the gates we travelled a little more to reach the main door of the house. I was amazed that this place was so big! It’s like twice, no, many times bigger than the cabin. I think I will get lost here at some point. I did not know my father was this influencial.

We are welcomed by the servants and a butler in the front gate. Amy guided me and introduced me to everyone. The servants greeted me with a smile and I greeted them back. They all seem nice. I hope I can get along with all of these people. I was looking around as I entered the manor. I can’t believe that I will be living in this place from now on. This place is far more extravagant than the descriptions I saw in books and magazines. I can’t help but be amazed!

“I will guide you to your room, my lady.” Maia said and I nodded. We passed through hallways and many rooms before we stopped on one. I can say that each space of this house is expensive! There are also some figurines and paintings that look really rare. I wonder how much they cost?

The butler opened the door and we walked in. I can’t believe that this will be my room from now on! Everything in this room is expensive and spotless! The room has cream colored walls with big windows and curtains! The wardrobes are big too and most importantly the bed! It was big and it looked so fluffy! This is too much. Do I really get this room? I’m trying to calm myself and not make unnecessary mistakes and I can see that the servants are looking at me as well. I caught some of them smiling as I looked around.

“This is your room, my lady.” Amy said and two servants came in. “This is Amber and Rose. They will be with your side from now on. Please feel free to ask them anything you want and make yourself comfortable.” She said and the two bowed their heads. They must be my personal maids during my stay here.

“We greet you, my lady.” Amber and Rose said and I smiled. They look young, maybe we are the same age. They are a little shy to meet my eyes but I hope we will all get along. I want to gain new friends at least.

“Please take care of me.” I said and I pointed to Maia, “This is Maia, I want to keep her with me as well.” I said and Maia greeted them. I told them that she will still become my personal servant and I don’t want to get separated from her. Since I was the one who brought her they all agreed on my words.

“Certainly, my lady.” Amy said. “This is Sir Mon, he is the butler of this house. He will be with you most of the time as well.” Amy said and I nodded.

“It is nice to meet you, Sir Mon.” I said and he nodded with a smile.

“The pleasure is mine, my lady.” He replied. Sir Mon is a middle aged man and he looks like someone you can rely on. I wonder if he was working here for a long time now just like Amy. I hope we can get along well too.

“We will leave you to rest now, my lady. Please don’t hesitate to call us if you need anything.” Amy said and I nodded. “Also, Master will see you later this evening to have dinner with you.” Amy added and I felt my heart racing. What did she say? I will meet my father later.

“Thank you everyone.” I said and they were dismissed. I asked Maia to remain so she can help me unpack my things. It wasn’t that much since I have small baggage.

We are both amazed at how big this place was. It’s like we are brought to a new world. This life is far from what I have in the past eighteen years. This is something that I am not used to. I wonder if I can live like this. There’s no turning back now. I need to be strong and capable. I will do my best!

“Maia, what do you think about this place?” I asked and the way she looked at me I think she read my mind.

“Are you thinking too much again? This place is something you deserve. You have the right to indulge and enjoy this life just like the late Madam said..” She said and I looked down. Do I really deserve this? I wonder how my Mother feels about this.

“I don’t know.” I replied and sighed.

“My lady, please don’t worry too much. Have a little pride. You are deserving of the best treatment in this house. Haven’t Miss Amy told you? You are the sole heir of this place. That means that the name of this place will be yours sometime soon. You will be the head of this place so please have pride.” She said and I sighed. That’s too much to take on the first day here. It’s not that easy to assume that. From a few moments ago, I was just a total stranger who lived in a cabin all her life.

“I’m not thinking things far ahead for now.” I said and she went closer to hold my hand.

“My lady you have me! I promised your Mother that I will be with you until the end. I’m sure that if she’s here she will be delighted that you will finally meet your father and have the things that you truly deserve.” She said and I smiled. I’m lucky to have Maia with me. I promise that I will give her the best life of her choice someday.

“Thank you for saying that, Maia.” I said and she smiled back. “You are right; I need to have a little more pride in myself.” I added.

I need to improve myself and become a better person that my Mother will be proud of. I made it this far and there’s no way I’m turning back. I know that I lack in many aspects like education, experience and confidence but I will do everything to achieve things! I will make sure that I will become a capable person.

Later I will meet my father. For now let’s rest and get ready. I have many things that I have to do in the future. I don’t need to force myself on the first day. For now, I need to rest. The carriage ride was longer than I expected and we travelled all day. My back hurts from sitting too long.

“Maia, that's enough for today. Take a rest.” I said and she nodded.

Time after time someone will knock on our door giving us food and they all taste delicious. They are usually pastries and desserts! I love them all. This place is treating me so well.

Another knock and I saw Amy came in. “My lady, Master, just came home at the manor. He said he will see you later at dinner. Please get ready.” She said and I nodded. This is it!

I will meet my father!
