Chapter 7: Suitor

Chapter 7 It was late in the morning and just how I expected it to be, Asher is gone. It’s not that I am upset that it happened but at some point he needs to return. It would be more difficult for the both of us if I was the one to send him off. It must be best to keep things this way. After all, we have talked about some things. I smiled as how the sheets of my bed were neatly done. He cleaned up a little before leaving? What is this compensation? I clutch the cover to my chest. I immediately blushed as I remembered what happened last night. I am so reckless! How could I do that? What has gotten into me? The door flew open and Maia came in. We both stared at each other for a moment before she started shouting at me. I can clearly tell that she is mad. Her nose was flaring as she spoke. “WHAT HAPPENED WHEN I WAS GONE?!” she shouted and I had no strength to tell her every single detail of it. I feel a little weak right now. Where do I even start? How am I going to excuse myself from this mess? “I..” I whimpered. I really can’t do this right now. She saw that I am naked and she immediately gave me some medicine. “Take this! It’s for protection.” She said and shoved it to me. “After drinking that you need to go down. We will talk.” She said and shut the door shut. I am very sorry Maia. I groaned and drank the medicine. It’s bitter. What is this? I dressed up and noticed a ring on the table beside me. It’s a silver ring with bright blue gems around it. It reminds me of his eyes. Did Asher leave this? He’s wearing this last night. I picked it up and tried to put it on my fingers. As expected, his finger is much bigger than mine. I looked for a string and made it into a necklace instead. This looks like an expensive ring. I want to keep this. I dressed up and cleaned myself. I noticed some love marks on my waist and on my thighs and it makes me blush. That damn beast. I thought he was being gentle! Last night took a lot of strain on my body. I need to rest for like a day or so. I sighed and made my way down and I saw Maia cleaning the kitchen. “Maia.” I called and she looked at me with a pissed look. She was trying to unload baskets and bags that she bought from the Capital.  “Will you explain yourself now?” she huffed as she tried to arrange the goods while trying to avoid my gaze. “Yes but I just want to say welcome home first. I’m glad you’re safe.” I said and she sighed. I don’t know how to calm her and talk to her when she’s like this. “You are saying that after disobeying my one and only rule? To never let anyone in?” she said and I sat down. I remember her saying that a few days ago. She sounded like my Mother.  “The thing is, I just helped him-“ “You helped a complete stranger and let him stay in for a few days? You don’t understand how dangerous that is.” She said and sighed. “If your mother knows any of this she will scold me to the bone.” She said and I was concerned about how she knew about this. I wasn’t even given the chance to speak? “How did you know that?” I asked and she turned to me with a serious face. “I met your lover and have him explain why he’s here. I chased him out!” she said and I was shocked. “You did?!” I exclaimed. “What kind of reaction is that? I was kidding. He left on his own with his men.” She said and I sighed. Why did I react like that? If he left with his men then he’s all safe. I clenched my hand on my chest. To be honest I was holding to Asher’s words but I don’t know him fully. He left with his men? Is he a member of the army? Wherever you look at this situation, it’s clearly a one night stand. This situation hit me unexpectedly. When the scenes last night come back to my mind I can feel my face heating up. I wonder how long it will take for me to forget these feelings or maybe it won’t leave my memories forever. Both Asher and I were reckless. We didn’t think of the consequences and we were pushed by our emotions. However, I won’t regret giving him my first. “Maia.” I called her. She turned to me and I smiled. “Keep everything that happened on this day. That man has promised me something and I choose to believe him. I will take full responsibility for my actions. I don’t regret anything as well. So I ask you to please trust me on this too.” I said and she looked at me and sighed. “I understand. By all means, is this my first love?” she asks jokingly but it took me minutes to answer. She asked if this was my first love and my heart started to beat so loudly. Whenever I think of him and the things that we shared it’s warm. I bit my lower lip and smiled. “Yes. I think you are right.” I replied. …... After eating everything went back to how it normally is. Both Maia and I work hand in hand for our daily chores. I can still feel sad whenever I think about the memories of me and my Mother in this Cabin but slowly, I was getting used to it. The only thing that’s new is every morning someone is leaving gifts on my door. Sometimes it was flowers and sometimes it was just food supplied. Some boxes contain jewelry and some of them are clothes. They all end up on the door every morning and I think started for a week now. At first I was happy but as time went by it was getting fancier and more expensive. The thing is, I knew who the person behind it was. It was Asher. He’s clearly telling me he’s rich and spoiling me so much! Doesn’t he have anything else to do with his money? It’s a new day and I was about to open the door. I wonder what it will be today. I opened the door and I saw a basket of fruits and a jewelry box. I picked it up and noticed a note and I opened it. “Can you smile for me today?” I read. I smiled. I better tell him to stop. Maybe I should leave a letter too? “Your suitor is getting bolder each day.” Maia said and I was shocked to see her peeking at the note that I was holding. I sighed and I pushed her inside. “I should tell him to stop.” I said and I grabbed a pen and paper. Maia helped me to arrange the things that Asher sent me. Because of him, we don’t have to go to the Capital this month. “Why would you do that? Don’t you like free stuff?” she joked. He’s taking things too seriously. He doesn’t have to make these efforts. I thought our connection would be cut the day he left but it’s not the case. That man is full of surprises. I bet he’s ordering someone to do these errands for him. I feel pity for him. “Thank you for all the presents and I appreciate them but I don’t want to cause you any longer so I have to ask you to stop. Your kindness for me is too much.” I wrote and folded the paper and put it on the door. Hopefully he’ll see that. “He needs to stop. We are also leaving next week.” I said and Maia didn’t say anything after that. I will meet my father soon. I should focus on that.
