Chapter 4: Adore

1498 Words
Chapter 4 I can’t stop thinking about what just happened. I hurriedly went out of the room the moment he mentioned that he wants me to be his wife. Did I just get a marriage proposal? What is that guy thinking? Not even once in my life will I have a proposal like this. Well when I think about it, I am really in a marriageable age. Usually at my age women are getting arranged marriage and are engaged but since Mother is not a member of the high society I am not obliged to do so. However, if I leave this place and live on the name of my father then I need to get married too. He looks like he’s a good guy and not to mention filthy rich. I can tell that he’s a noble and he has a high position. He’s not a bad shot at all. Not to mention his perfect face and body. Now that I think of it, what if he’s just messing with me? I am sure that many women would love to be his wife!. Wait? What am I thinking? Did I consider it just now? No. No, I should not rush things like this. I’m not even sure if his words are sincere! I shouldn’t get flustered just because of that. I should not forget my true intention and that is to cure him and send him back to the Capital. Since he’s under my care, I am liable for whatever happens to this man. I cannot bear my conscience if I let him get sick like that. When I went back to his room, I saw him sleeping so I silently sat beside him and watched him fall asleep. If you look at him from this angle, he looks like an angel. His features are perfect! I wonder if there are many handsome guys in the capital. In just a month now, I will live with my father at the Amaranth residence and I don’t know if we will ever meet again. It’s a nice thing that I was able to meet him here since I don’t know what will happen to me in the following months. I feel weird around him but it’s not that I hate it at all. I was staring blankly at the window when I heard Asher grunt as he tried to sit up. The rain is pouring hard again today and the outside looks like chaos. I guess the rainy season is approaching. Heavy rainfall is happening frequently. I looked at Asher and smiled, “I brought your medicine.” I said and he nodded. He’s not taking it from me? Should I give it to him? I stood up to pour the medicine on a spoon and he opened his mouth like a child. I giggled as he took the medicine. Why am I actually glad that he’s following me like a child? “You are the best nurse that I have met.” He said and I giggled. “I will take that as a compliment.” I said and put the medicine aside. “Your hair..” he said as he stared at me. I quickly look at my hair to run my fingers through it. He was looking at my reddish hair color which is uncommon to this land. Usually they have darker hair color and mine is different. I got this from my Mom, who is a foreigner in this country. My mother’s features are bright yellow eyes and long reddish curly hair. For me I have green eyes and curly reddish hair.  “My mother came from a foreign land and I got this hair color from her. Strange.. isn’t it?” I said and he shook his head. He took his moment before speaking. “I don’t think it’s strange. It looks beautiful. It’s like the color of sunset.” He said and I was surprised by his words. It’s the first time that someone said that to me. “I like it.” He added. “Thank you.” I said and looked down. I’m starting to get embarrassed. I wonder if he’s still looking at me. Even Maia said it was stange. Mom’s visitors also told me that it was different so I started to hate it. Right now, it’s the first time someone appreciated the beauty of my hair. “I think the rain won’t stop at any moment. Won’t you spend your time with me for a while?” he asked and I looked at him. “What do you mean?” I asked. “I was thinking if you want to sit with me and talk about random things. I am glad to be at your company.” He said and I smiled. That would be nice. I feel lonely now that Maia hasn’t come home yet. I think she will come home tomorrow or the next day. I wonder if she’s doing fine in the Capital. “Alright.” I said and moved the chair beside him and sat down. It’s a good start to get to know him. I can learn things from him too since he’s from the Capital. I kept shoving away the thought that it’s only the two of us here in the Cabin. If Maia saw us now she would be angry! But this is just once in a lifetime opportunity to have a conversation with a hot guy like Asher! This is like a dream come true. “Do you not feel alone here?” He asked as he broke the silence between us. “I don’t but I get bored from time to time. This is the home where I was raised and literally where my whole life revolved until now. But sadly, someday I really need to leave this place.” I said. “Will you leave this place?” he asked. “Yes. I will live with my father in the capital. My biological father is a noble man and he lives near the Capital. We might as well see each other if destiny will allow it but if not it’s alright. I am glad to meet you Sir Asher..” I said and he nodded. “I just want to live my life.” I sighed. I want to leave this place for good. I want to explore and discover new things. I don’t want to be caged at this place forever. I want to live my life without forgetting this place. “I see. To be honest with you, I am an insane man…” he said and his face darkened as he spoke,  “In the next months the Capital will be a bloody place so I suggest you don’t go out too often. I’m telling this to you because I care for our safety but of course I won’t let you get into that mess.” He said and I was worried about what he’s saying. “What do you mean?” I asked and he looked at me. “Chaos will fall to the Imperial Family. I cannot disclose all the important information to you but I want you to trust me and take care. After a few months, or years I will find you.” He said and held my hand. What? After saying that there will be war among the nobles he’s saying this? This is too much for me to take! “Do you trust me?” “I-I trust you but why do you need to find me?” I said and he grinned. “I was serious about what I said earlier. I want you to be my wife. So wait for me until that happens.” He said and I was speechless. What?! He’s really serious about marriage! This man is insane! “W-Why does it have to be me? You barely know me Sir Asher. I’m sure there are ladies in the Capital who will suit you best. Months and years will pass and I will understand if you will find someone else during that time..” I said and he held my hand and kissed it. “That won’t happen. No matter what happens I will find you just like how I promised you.” He said. “But..why?” I muttered. “That’s because I adore you, Celeste. I really do.” He said and kissed my hand.
