The Beta's Apocalypse

She was the only thing on his mind, he needed to be near her more then he had ever needed anything in his life, more then he needed air to fill his lungs. Eric continued walking towards the stage. He only had one thing on his mind,  getting to the beautiful woman standing on stage and finding out who she was. He had waited so long to find her, worried in this new world their paths would never cross. She was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. Everything he heard was true, the world seemed to disappear around him the moment he caught her scent. Something very earthy and almost bitter he couldn’t make out, combined with the sweet scent of mixed berries.   He stepped onto the stage, as she stared back at him with her emerald green eyes. She seemed to be frozen, a complete look of shock on her face. Was she so shocked to meet her mate? Eric thought, as he furrowed his eyebrows.   "She seems scared." Eric's wolf Blaze said to him.   "Why would she be scared? I have never even met her, she has no reason to fear me." Eric replied through their link, as he stepped in front of the twins.   "Eric what is going on. Is something wrong?" Ethan said, his arms still extended protecting his sister.   Eric shook his head, and looked at the twins then Sophie and Justin. He had been so focused on his Mate, he hadn't even noticed they were standing there. He focused back on the beautiful girl in front of him. "Everything is right, I have found my Mate."   The twins looked at each other then turned to Ellie. "Ellie." Elijah said.   Ellie stood there frozen, she hadn't even blinked. The only movement she had made was to follow the gaze of the man now just a few feet from her. She noticed him immediately as he came into the crowd. She hadn’t heard from Rue in weeks, but as soon as this man came into view, she could feel her stir a little. What was it about this man that had her so entranced, and made her wolf stir inside her? Just then Elijah stood in front of her, blocking her and the mysterious man. She watched as his lips moved, but she couldn’t hear anything he was saying.   Elijah grabbed Ellie's shoulder, and gave her a light shake. "Ellie, snap out of it. You're scaring me what is wrong? Did you just hear what Eric said?"   Ellie shook her head. "I…I." She looked up at Elijah. "What did you say?"   Elijah stared at his sister. "El, did you hear what Eric just said?"   Ellie took a deep breath. "No I don’t know who you're talking about."   Eric took a step around Elijah, standing next to him. "I am Eric, your mate."   Ellie stared up at the man calling himself Eric. 'What did he just say?' She asked herself. 'No that can not be right.' She turned her gaze back to Elijah, then Ethan.   Eric reached his hand up and touched Ellie's arm.   She jolted back at his touch. Her eyes grew wide, and filled with tears threatening to break free.   "It's ok." Eric assured. "You can trust me."   Ellie shook her head back and forth, almost as if she had no control of it. She started stepping back wards. She now realized everyone was completely still, all staring at her. She looked up at Eric, no longer able to hold the tears back as they flooded out of her eyes, covering her cheeks. "I'm sorry I can't." She reached her hands down, grabbing the sides of her dress. She looked left to right, then turned to the right of the stage running off.   "Wait!" Eric called out to her,  turning to take chase.   Sophie stepped in front of him, holding her hand up. Eric stopped and stared down at her as she turned to look at the twins who were about to jump off stage themselves.. "Elijah, Ethan, wait."   Ethan turned and glared at Sophie. "No she needs us."   "Just come here for one second." Sophie affirmed.   The twins shook there heads and turned to look at Sophie.   Sophie turned back to Eric. "There is a lot about your mate you don’t know." She looked at Ethan and nodded. "Ethan and I will go check on her, but for now you stay here."   Ethan nodded.   "I'm going with you too." Elijah added.   "I need you to stay here with Eric and explain everything to him." Sophie replied.   Elijah looked at Ethan who nodded. He let out a sigh. "Fine, but I don’t like it."   Sophie reached around and pulled Eric into a hug.   He looked down at her. "I cant just stay here, I need to see her. I need to make sure she is ok. Olcan is going nuts."    "Hug me back!" Sophie demanded.   Eric sighed, but wrapped his arms around her.   "You've waited this long, you can wait a little longer." Sophie turned and looked at Justin. "Take Eric and Elijah to your Office so you can explain everything to him."   Justin walked over and kissed Sophie. "Ok. Eric come on." He grabbed Eric's arm, dragging him off stage.   Eric jerked his arm away. "Fine, I'm coming."   Elijah joined them, as they made their way into the Packhouse, and then to the office.   Eric paced back and forth, shaking his head.   "Eric sit down, you're making me dizzy." Justin expressed.   "I can't sit down, Olcan wont shut up about his mate and I am freaking out right now."   Elijah sat down in one of the chairs. "Sit down and I will tell you everything about my sister."   Eric's head shot up to Elijah, and he nodded. He walked over and sat on the couch across from him.   Elijah looked at Justin then back at Eric. "Earlier I told you about Mason and the spell put on her, making her think they were mates. Finding out that not only was he not her mate, but watching him kill our parents in front of her really messed her up. She passed out as soon as she found out, and didn’t wake up for two days. It was during those two days her hair turned grey, it was blond before. After she woke up she wouldn’t talk to anyone for an entire week. It was almost like she was an empty shell."  Elijah let out a sigh, shaking his head at the painful memories. "Her wolf Rue has been gone ever since too, it must have been too much for her as well."   Eric stood up his eye's wide, both hands in fists at his sides. "I am going to hunt Mason down and kill him."   Justin walked over, and put a hand on Eric's shoulder. "I know what you're going through, and we will find Mason, but for now I need you to calm done."   Eric glared up at Justin and pushed him in the chest. "Don’t you dare tell me to calm down. You have no idea what I'm going through."   Justin shoved Eric hard in the chest, knocking him down on the couch. "I know exactly what you're going through. When I found out about the man who had abused Sophie I wanted revenge. Mason will get what's coming to him, but you running off all half c****d will do nothing but get you killed and cause her further pain."   "He's right." Elijah added. "We need to come up with a plan to take him out. Believe me nothing would give me more pleasure then letting my wolf rip his throat out, but right now my concern is Ellie and how she is handling this."   Eric let out a low growl and buried his head in his arms. "I know you're right, but I am so mad. I have never felt rage like this before."   Justin sat down on the couch next to him. "That is the mate bond."   Eric pulled his head up and looked at Justin. "It's almost painful. It's like my heart is trying to rip through my chest."   Justin nodded. "That will get better when she is near, but it will keep getting worse until then I am afraid."   Eric looked up at Elijah. "I have to go see her I can’t take it anymore."   "Eric there is more, if I could go back I would have told you right away when we first met." Elijah said shaking his head.   Eric stared across at Elijah, not sure how there could possibly be anything else. "What is it?"   "Ethan and I don’t have a little brother. Ellie is our only other sibling."   Eric looked at Justin, then back at Elijah. "I don’t understand, if you don’t have a little brother, then who was the Alpha ceremony for?"   Elijah sat up, resting his elbows on his knees, looking Eric right in the eyes. He wanted to be sure he fully caught his initial reaction to the news he was about to drop on him. "The Alpha Ceremony was for Ellie."   Eric's eyes grew wide, and his mouth parted slightly. He stared at Elijah, then shot a quick look to Justin.   Justin smiled and nodded.   Eric turned back to Elijah. "You're telling me my Mate is a female Alpha?"
