Long, long time ago, in a far kingdom, where it was still as one, there lived a wise sage known as Yulo the Great and Wise One, or Yulo. She founded the kingdom, Yaia. The people lived in peace and harmony; everyone is happy. Bountiful harvest for the plentiful people. The kingdom is so nice and great, many travelers from all places went for a visit, and some also chose to live in this kingdom of plenty.
This lasted until the great evil, the Devil King, appeared. The evil king, through his powers, destroyed the kingdom in one strike. But with Yulo’s powers, on her last breath, she protected the kingdom. The land was saved, as well as the people. However, it is not without a price.
The kingdom was divided in two. One part of the kingdom was thrown to the far east, and the other was to the far west. The evil king finally disappeared, seeing the kingdoms became apart.
West Kingdom.
“Your Majesty!” the maid cried when she saw the king collapsed in the ground. She turned to the little child standing near them. “Your Highness, run!” she cried and pushed her.
“But - !” the child cried. The child looked around their castle that’s all in fire and smoke.
“You must run, quickly!” the maid said. “He’s after you - !” she told the child and coughed blood. She was heavily wounded! “Quick - !” she added.
The child cried, and turned to run. However, only to widen their eyes when they saw a figure in front of them, glaring at them with reddened eyes. “Oh my god – “ the child muttered and collapsed after the figure attacked.
The child’s vision turned black.
East Kingdom.
“Whoa! That’s really amazing dad!” a young girl of barely eight years old exclaimed as she beamed. “Was it really true? Was it really true?” she asked excitedly with her eyes sparkling like stars as she stared at her father.
Her father, the king, laughed heartily. “Of course… not! That’s just all a myth.” He said and laughed again when he saw his daughter’s face scrunched up.
She pouted. “Boo!” she said and ran to the terrace of the palace. “Then, what’s that place there?” she asked and pointed to a giant castle afar only a silhouette can be seen in the horizon.
“Yelene!” her father cried and lifted her. He was frightened she would fall. He helplessly sighed at his daughter’s mischievousness. “That’s just another kingdom.” He told her. “But our kingdom and that kingdom are not the ones from that story. That myth was just created to scare the children of the evil king.” He explained to her.
“Boo!” she pouted as she finally gave up.
He laughed. “And the evil king also chases the children when it is night, and – “ he put her down, giving her a chance to escape. As expected, she ran and he chased her
She giggled as she ran, only to stop when she saw something afar in the sky. “Father, wait!” she cried and ran back to the terrace. “What’s… what’s that?” she asked and pointed to the black smoke from the castle of the West kingdom.
Her father’s eyes went wide. “Yelene, hide!” he cried and pushed her under the bed.
“What - ?!” she muttered, confused. She became curious to her father’s sudden change in expression, and so she peeked from under the bed. She poked her head out, only to see the black smoke coming towards their way. Her eyes went wide when she finally saw the ‘black smoke’ as it neared them. “Father - !” she cried when the ‘black smoke’ finally arrived.
After that, she lost her consciousness.
----
“What do you want?” her father asked the man in cloak.
“Where is your daughter?” the man in the black cloak asked. His face can’t be seen.
“He’s not here.” her father said.
“Liar!” the man yelled and pushed her father. “I know she’s here!” he shouted. “I must kill him!” he said as he looked around with his bloodshot eyes.
Her eyes went wide. She immediately covered her mouth. “No!” she heard her father cry. “What do you want? You already ruined our kingdom - !” her father said.
“What do I want? I want to ruin that damn prophecy!” the man in the black cloak answered. Her father didn’t answer. “So, you knew?” the man said and suddenly kicked her father. Her father cried in pain as he fell to the floor. “Where are you, the fated one to kill me and marry the West kingdom’s prince!” the man in the black cloak called.
“What?” she muttered under her breath. “What is he talking about?” she asked when she suddenly saw his feet come toward the bed. She scuttled back under the bed.
Her eyes went wide when the bed was suddenly lifted. “Peek – a – boo!” the man said with a wide grin.
“AAAAAH!!!” she screamed and crawled back further.
“No!” her father cried. He pulled the cloak of the man to stop the man from advancing. “Run, Yelene!” her father said when the man fell down after his cloak was pulled.
“No - !” the man cried and aimed his hand at me. A black light shot out from the man’s hand.
She opened the door just as a dark light covered the room and struck her.
“Ha!” I woke up, panting and drenched in sweat. “What the heck was that?” I asked and looked at my door. It is closed. “That felt so real – “ I said and went down my bed. I went to my window and opened it. I covered my eyes as light flooded my room. “Good morning.” I whispered and looked at the busy and bustling city. I can hear the cars’ horns from the 24th floor of my apartment building. I looked at the other high-rise buildings across my apartment building. I smiled. “This place is really the best.” I muttered before I went to prepare things for work.
----
I went to the kitchen. I alarmed my phone at 6:45 and prepared my food. I cooked the rice and went to the bathroom to take a bath.
“What should I wear today?” I asked and picked my shirt, jacket and shorts. “I’d go for my comfy clothes today, I think. Since it’s just a fansigning event – “ I muttered and wore my clothes. I ate my breakfast then prepared to leave.
My phone rang just when I left my apartment. I saw a maid and she blushed when she saw me. I smiled. “Yelene!” I heard Phoebe cry from the phone.
“Yeah?” I answered as I walked.
“Where are you?” she asked.
“On my way.” I answered.
She sighed. “You just left your apartment.” she said.
I grimaced. She really knows me. I thought. “Ahahaha… of course not~” I said as I sheepishly smiled.
“Of course it is!” She cried.
“Oh, come on. Cut me some slack… ugh!” I cried and clutched my chest when it hurt.
“Yelene?” I heard Phoebe called.
“What – “ I said, panting. “I can’t… breathe – “ I said, gasping.
“Yelene- ?” Phoebe called.
Two kingdoms that fell apart,
Will be united again by two hearts.
One of whom is pure and kind,
And one is far but will be the light,
Of those in dark of the evil king,
Born again to spread despair,
But will die by the hero’s spear,
Filled with hope and love from his people,
He, the prince, will be the champion.
“What… was that - ?” I asked as I caught my breath.
“Yelene! Are you alright? What’s happening?” I heard Phoebe asked in a worried voice.
“Y – yeah.” I answered, still gasping for breath. “Just – “ I took a deep breath and leaned on the wall. “Morning sickness, I guess?” I said, then laughed.
“What – “ she said, then gasped. “Are you pregnant – oww!” she cried.
“Don’t kid like that.” It was Celestine’s voice. “Yelene, are you okay?” she asked. “If not, we can cancel the event – “ she told her through the phone.
I shook my head. “Nah. My fans worked hard to get there.” I said. “I’m on my way.” I said and ended the phone call. I looked around, then sighed. “Must be my imagination.” I said and ran to the elevator.
“Yelene.” A woman said as she floated behind Yelene. “Soon, my hero, and my champion. The time is running out.” She said. She touched Yelene’s cheek then disappeared.
Chill went down Yelene’s spine as she went out the elevator. She hugged herself. “What was that?” she said then went to her car in the parking lot. She shook her head to erase the thoughts in her head. “Concentrate. Focus, focus - !” she muttered as she started her car and drove to the event place.
The car drove out of the parking lot, then joined the other cars on the road.
