Chapter 7 What Did I Do Wrong

916 Words
She smiled sadly and her shoulders were trembling. Wendy heard more cruel words, "Kevin, drag her away and start the operation immediately!" Her body trembled not because she was afraid, but because she was disappointed. The man who she loved for for many years should treat her like this? She felt cold. Disorderly footsteps came, and Wendy smiled dismally. "Fred, you are so cruel." The bodyguards broke in and rudely dragged Wendy out. Tears filled in her eyes. She struggled desperately to look back and wanted to see Fred one more time. It was the last time. It was the last time she could see him. But she saw was that he was lowering his head, gently stroking Molly's hair and comforting patiently. Wendy instantly stopped struggling. Her body was stiff and cold and all her senses were numb. She had never felt that she was so ridiculous. Wendy was lying on the operating table, and the cold scalpel was stabbed into her eyes. Although she was anesthetized, her eyes still hurt... Time passed. Her senses came back gradually and her body was weak as if she couldn't move. Everything went dark. Even though she knew it, she still raised her hand and shook it in front of her eyes. She couldn’t see anything. Wendy was at a loss and was silent. She really couldn’t see. She didn't know where she was. She heard something before she got back her composure. It seemed to be a TV report and the volume was gradually turned up. She heard it. "It is reported that the Sharp family in York declared bankruptcy at 6 p.m. yesterday. Wayne Sharp jumped off a building and was seriously injured. He has been sent to the hospital for rescue..." Wendy became stiff. There seemed to be something exploding in her mind, and her mind went a complete blank. How... How come? Didn't Fred promise her to inject capital into her family? Why did her family go bankrupt and why did her father jump off a building!? Great panic and fear seized her. Her pale lips trembled and she groped to get out of bed. But she couldn't see anything. She fell on the floor in a panic, her body seeming to be falling apart. Her legs trembled, and she had to struggle to stand up. She was going to find her father... She couldn’t let her dad alone in the hospital! She didn’t know that how was her mom. Would her mom be more devastated than her? Her haggard cheeks ad been wet and full of tears. Tears kept shedding down and her eyes had a strong burning feeling. Her eye sockets hurt a lot, and the report of her family’s bankruptcy was still going on, torturing Wendy both mentally and physically. "Miss Wendy! Miss Wendy!" The nurse's anxious call came, followed by footsteps. The nurse hurried to help her. "Your operation has just ended. You can't be so excited. Please restrain your emotions, otherwise it will be bad once your eyes get infected!" Wendy seemed not to hear the nurse. She stood up by holding the bed. Her body was painful and she couldn’t straighten her back, but she stubbornly pushed the nurse away and tried to go out. They were her only families and the only faith she had in the world. If something really happened to dad... She couldn’t even think about it. Wendy’s back was thin and weak. She could hardly stand still, so she could only hold onto the wall, but she still walked forward stubbornly. The nurses behind her couldn't help feeling sad and pitying her. Suddenly, the door was opened, and there were hurried steps. It was the familiar cold, strong and dangerous breath, "Get back." It was Fred. She was like a puppet without soul. She knew knows to go forward. Fred grabbed her arm directly and rudely threw her back to the hospital bed. "What’s wrong with you?" Wendy fell on the bed board and her body immediately hurt a lot, especially her back waist. It was even hard for her to breathe and she couldn’t make a sound. After a long time, she gradually got used to the pain. She said in a trembling voice, "What’s wrong with me? Fred, why don't you ask yourself what you have done to my family!?" She became excited and couldn't restrain her emotion, "It's agreed that I'll give Molly my corneas and you'll let my family go! My family went bankrupt and jumped off a building. Why? Why don't you keep your promise?!" After hoarseness, she said, "I only have them..." Fred frowned and was puzzled for a moment. His previous crackdown on her family’s company would not lead to bankruptcy. Was this woman acting again? But then he looked gloomy. He sneered coldly and said sarcastically, "Wendy, don’t milk it." Wendy's body trembled. She couldn’t believe it. At this point, she never showed her wounds, let alone complained about the harm she had suffered, but he said that she was milking it. How ridiculous should it be? Every time she thought the pain had reached the extreme, Fred always had a way to let her suffer much more pain. Fred looked at her coldly. Seeing her look, he felt inexplicably agitated, but he immediately looked cold at the thought that she might be acting. "Don't think you can wantonly get sympathy by giving your corneas. You owe Molly and are destined to pay for it!"
