Jenn dug the heels of her hands into her eyes. Staring at the monitor for the past two hours had left her eyes dry and itchy. She was reaching for the eye drops she never traveled without when her phone rang again, this time playing Nicki’s ringtone. Without even saying hello or asking how her friend was, she asked, “What have you got?” “Can you meet me at the Carson’s bar?” If Nick didn’t want to tell her over the phone, then this couldn’t be good. “I’m in town.
