Chapter 3-2

2439 Words

Meg loved this time of year, when except for the occasional warmth of an Indian summer day, the heat of summer faded and the leaves began turning red and orange and gold. She let herself into the mudroom of the house where she’d grown up and hung up her denim jacket, which had done a fine job of keeping the cool of the autumn afternoon at bay. She’d had a few days off, but she was going back to work this evening. Her shift with the LHSD didn’t start until eleven P.M., and as usual on Wednesdays, she had supper with the family. Not her brother Laurie, though. He was away with his boyfriend. The lucky so-and-so was visiting Arches National Park out in Utah.
