Chapter 4: Dog s**t

The cool breeze came by swooshing every couple minutes. It was soothing and nice, so calm. The meadow was long and wide and filled with birds that chirped. Soon enough the birds turned to crows that cawed, then to the sound of horns. Horns? Opening my eyes, I felt the car swoosh past me and my heart raced insanely. What the f**k am I doing on the freeway?! I hurried to the other end and grasped onto the metal bars feeling my legs shake uncontrollably. Fucking hell! A woman with long white hair and bright blue eyes walked over, her long black dress dragging over the floor. "Iman, you have been chosen to fulfill a serving of a curse. You will continue to awaken closer and closer to your death until the curse has been lifted. Do not get side tracked, if you give yourself to the wrong man, your kiss will be that of a box jellyfish, killing them. Best of luck child." She said softly running her hand over my cheek before disappearing into thin air. What the f**k?! I blinked a couple times before shutting my eyes, "Wake up you i***t. Wake up!" I opened my eyes-I'm still on the freeway. Oh my god. This is a joke right? It can't be real. A curse? Chosen? Is this a game freaks like her play? I hurried on down the freeway to get the f**k off it. Making it down the street, I hurried into one of the gas stations and pondered making a phone call but...mom would probably have a heart attack. I sighed and ran my hand through my hair nervously before hurrying down the street towards my home. God this is awful, just awful. I've never slept walked in my life! Now all of a sudden I'm sleep walking onto a freeway? My mind spun around in circles until I realized, I could call Jen! Oh s**t, she's probably still drunk. So is Roma. Dammit! Taking a step forward, I felt my bare foot sink into something soft and....oh god that's dog crap. Could this night get any worse?! I just want to sleep, this isn't fair. Wiping my foot on the grass, I cringed as I did it and tried to hurry through the park instead of the streets. This is disgusting, my foot wreaks. "What the hell are you doing out dressed like that?" I felt my soul leap from my body before I turned my face to see Everett sitting on a park bench. His words processed slowly and I stared down at the short white night gown with little stars on it. Thank god I actually wore more than an underwear. "What's that smell?" He asked as he sniffed the air and moved his book to the spot beside him. Staring at my foot, I mentally cursed that dog and looked to Rhett, "I stepped in dog crap." I said crossing my arms over my chest self consciously. He broke into a small grin and then leaned forward and gestured to my feet, "You're lucky that's all you stepped on. Get your shoes stolen off your feet?" He asked looking amused at my current situation. He finds this amusing, my tragic and confusing state is amusing to him. What an asshole. I gave him a small scowl and turned going down toward my house ignoring him as he followed behind, "You planning on walking home looking like that?" He asked gesturing to me again. Would he get over my nightgown?! I turned sharply and gave him a mean glare, "Back off Rhett, I'm not in the mood. I want to go home, wash my foot and then go back to bed." I said furiously and watching him take a step back and smile softly. Idiot. Making my way back to the house, I headed through some more grass before....I stepped in another pile of dog s**t, "Are you serious? It's not hard to pick up after your stupid dogs." I said furiously at the nobody around me. A small laugh came and I turned scowling at Everett who was heading back to the park bench with his book in his hands. I hate that guy already. Pain in my ass.  By the time I got home, I had stepped in another pile and ran from a creepy homeless man. Knocking on the door I waited and then the light went on before the door opened up, "Did you lock yourself out?" She asked confused before adding "What are you even doing out right now?" And finally the comment "God you smell awful." Thanks. I nodded, "Yeah I know, I stepped in dog crap. I guess I slept walked down to the mailbox. I'm really not sure how." I lied and watched as she stared in worry, "Are you okay?" She asked rubbing my back and then stopping me before going inside and grabbing two plastic bags. She had me step into them and make trash bag shoes before I could enter. Don't worry mom, I don't blame you. "I'm okay, I just I'm really tired." I said yawning to add extra effect. It bought her over because she yawned right after and nodded, "We can talk about it tomorrow. Get some rest." She said smiling. I don't even know if I could rest. Going to the shower, I washed off my feet and tossed the bags but kept having this weird feeling...like a need. She was real, wasn't she? No Iman, she wasn't real. This wasn't, this is all some wacko nightmare, I'll just lay in bed and shut my eyes and when I wake up it'll be over. I hope to god it'll all be over. Please.
