I hope that I haven't made a mistake in choosing to protect this young girl. In my heart I knew that it was the right thing to do in declining the contract, and after meeting her and speaking with her, my only worry was that harm would come to Derrick somehow.
I could tell he was already smitten with her, and before I even sent him to pick her up for the evening, he had mentioned seeing her at school. "She is so shy, but really beautiful, dad," he had said.
I was fine with him getting to know her, but I knew my son, he didn't get involved seriously with girls unless he felt something could go further and last. He had been that way since his biological mother left when he was young. He didn't get close, unless he knew you weren't going to just walk away.
