17. Some Allies Are Better Than Others

We weren’t about to go on Billy’s word alone that we now had our hands on a test to separate humans from Splinters. There could have been plenty of reasons he might try to poison us. As soon as we got our hands on the vial, we knew we would have to test it, see if there was some way we could find out what it was, and ultimately try it on some living beings, Splinter and non-Splinter.
For this, we needed a lab, which we didn’t have. The nearest we might be able to get would be at school, which brought its own set of challenges.
