16 Marina sat at the dining room table with her laptop computer, entering the first week’s revenue and expense figures into a spreadsheet. She frowned and bit her lip. Revenue wasn’t as high as she would have liked. She thought about the levers she had to control costs. Reduce menu size, save on food costs. She would say personnel, but Heather was working for very little, and Ginger was donating her time. Marina had to attract more customers. Many locals were supporting her, and she was thankful for that. The kitchen door slammed, and Ginger arrived home from her hike. “I would ask how you’re doing, but your face is telling me everything.” Marina drew her hands over her face. “I’m not making any money yet.” “It’s usually hard in the beginning. Anything I can do?” “Wave a magic wand?”
