“Watch your step,” Marina said to Kai.
She pushed aside plastic sheeting and stepped into the newly expanded kitchen in the guest house. Axe’s construction team was almost finished. The last step was to sand the drywall and paint. Marina had chosen cheerful beach shades of sandy yellow for the walls with accents of coral and turquoise.
In the interest of time, she’d decided to let Axe and his crew handle the painting so that she could open a week earlier than planned. Marina needed to spend time preparing the menu dishes and making sure the kitchen was stocked with food, cutlery, and serving dishes. She was amazed at the thousands of details she had to address. The county would have to inspect and approve the premises, too.
