Amber's POV: I woke up just in time for lunch. As usual, I headed to the kitchen to pick up my meal, intending to bring it to Sidney. By now, this routine had become second nature. But before I could leave, Mabel walked in and stopped me. Taking the tray from my hands, she hesitated for a moment before grabbing my hand and saying awkwardly, "Amber, you need some rest. Let me take it instead." I froze, noticing the unease in her expression. Then it clicked. "Sidney doesn't want to see me, does he?" Mabel's face fell, her guilt clear as day. "I'm sorry, Amber. Maybe he's just upset right now. He'll probably be fine tomorrow." I patted her shoulder, forcing a carefree smile. "Go ahead. If he's giving me time off, I should be happy about it, right?" I even tried to laugh to sell the act
