Bill's outward appearance was so relatively normal. It was the same now. The three were clearly undergoing a fantastic transformation of their ordinary perceptive powers, but so far as the observers were concerned, they might just as well be under the influence of sleeping tablets. All conversation had faded away, partly so as not to distract the LSD takers, and partly because the rest of the people were on hashish and were content to enjoy their own, milder, consciousness expansion quietly.
