Bryce waved his hands in mock protest. "I'm ashamed of you, Robert. Carolyn will get the wrong impression of me. As a matter of fact, my dear," he continued, still holding Carolyn's hand. "I'd like very much to give you an audition. We're casting a big new movie in a few days... "
"Be careful, darling," Robert warned. "Make sure it's not one of his private art films he wants you for!"
"Well taken, Robert!" Bryce exclaimed. He gave Carolyn's hand another firm, meaningful squeeze. "Here's my card, give me a call tomorrow. I'm sure you'll come through the audition with flying colors!"
God, Carolyn thought, I don't care what kind of a film it is. If a man this influential wants to give me a part, any part, I'll take it!
