I had no idea how many Alphas I met but my head was spinning. I had still not gotten the chance to talk to Liam, Magnus or Delilah. I was currently pretending to be interested in what an Alpha and his mate were talking about when I felt a hand around my waist.
“I'm afraid I have to steal my Luna for a dance.” Jacob said.
“Oh no problem Prime, we know how it feels to finally have your mate, don't you remember those days Elisa dear?” The Alpha asked his mate who smiled at him, as if he hung the stars in the sky. I wrinkled my nose at the thought of them comparing their love story to Jacob and I.
We headed to the dance floor and I watched as everyone moved aside as a song came up. He placed his hand on my upper back, the other holding my hand. I placed my hand on his upper back and let him lead me into a waltz.
“It wouldn't kill you to smile.” He whispered.
“Why? Are you scared your subjects will find out that I'm here against my will?” I shot back, he let out a chuckle.
“You'll find that the wolves under me tend to keep their thoughts to themselves.” He replied, “You dance well.”
I frowned, startled at the compliment.
“My mother insisted I learn the waltz, I'm surprised a murderous psychopath like you took time from plotting and scheming to learn how to dance.” I retorted, letting him spin me out, my eyes met Liam's who looked a bit green in the face. I wrinkled my nose at him.
Think you could throw me a dagger?
He chuckled, shaking his head.
I wish I could.
I spun back into Jacob's arm as we continued to waltz to the song.
“Well I am a man of many talents.” He replied.
“Murder, kidnap and blackmail being part of them.”
“We can't all be the good guys.”
I raised a brow at him
“Well at least you're aware of what you really are.” I replied.
“You see pet, I never claimed to be a good man, unlike your father.”
I glared at him, driving my heel into his shoe, he stumbled a bit.
“Oops, I slipped,” I replied, smirking at him. His eyes darkened as he tightened his grip on my hand, almost crushing it, I refused to give him the satisfaction he wanted.
The dance came to an end and the crowd applauded us, I forced a smile, letting him take a hold of my hand and lead me off the floor. Other Alphas, Betas and their mates, took over. I wrenched my hand away from him, wanting to go find Liam.
I easily found him, he was still seated, watching people dance. I sat next to him, he glanced at me.
“Hey”
“Hey, I gave the laptop to the girl who follows you around.” He informed me.
“Delilah?”
“Is that her name? Yeah her.” He replied.
“Where's Magnus?” I inquired.
“His mate wanted to talk to one of the Alphas so he accompanied her, the girls wanted to dance so they headed up to the dancefloor.”
I nodded, glancing at him. He seemed tense.
“Are you okay?” I inquired.
“Yeah, it just feels weird seeing you act so civil with him.” He confessed.
“Trust me, it gives me a tummy ache.” I mumbled, he laughed at the sour look on my face.
“Come on” I stood up, stretching my hand out. He frowned, raising a brow at me.
“What?”
I rolled my eyes at him.
“Dance with me.”
“I don't think so.” He replied.
“Either you dance with me or I order you to.” I threatened, fighting a grin. He narrowed his eyes at me.
“You wouldn't.”
“Try me.”
Sighing, he got to his feet, taking my hand. I beamed at him, dragging him onto the dance floor just as an upbeat song came on.
“When was the last time we actually danced?” I asked as we began to dance.
“Uh… two years ago.” He replied, twirling me around.
“That seems like ages ago.” I whispered.
“Tell me about it.” He mumbled. Everything had changed, we weren’t hurt teenagers plotting revenge anymore, it wasn’t a game anymore, it was real.
“I just want it to be over, I can’t wait to be back in Ridgeway.” I mumbled back.
“Soon.” He whispered, we danced in silence, enjoying each other's company.
“I better head back to my seat before the homicidal maniac comes here.” I said, stepping back.
“Yeah, his eyes have been on you since you came over here.”
I sighed, turning to leave when I bumped into someone. Several gasps echoed around me as I stared at my ruined dress, the wine stain spreading and staining the front of the dress.
"Oops... I am so sorry Adelaide..." Olivia giggled " I mean the dress wasn't flattering on you in the first place but...."
I exhaled through my lips, pushing my hair away from my face, ignoring the horrified looks around me.
"Olivia?"
She turned to me, still giggling with her friends.
"Yeah?"
"KNEEL"
The order was firm, her eyes went wide as her knees slammed to the ground. Her wolf had no choice but to force her body to obey my command.
"W...what..."
I stopped a passing waiter and picked up a bottle of wine from his tray before walking up to her, relishing the look of fear and anger in her eyes. Raising the bottle above her head, I looked down my nose at her.
"Oops..." I whispered, tipping the bottle over, watching as the contents drench her hair and dress. Her gasps of shock filled the hall, making me smirk.
"You were right... red is such a good colour on you." I stated, placing the bottle back on the tray, she sputtered, struggling to get to her feet. "Not so fast... the event's far from over Olivia, why don't you spend the rest of the banquet kneeling there?"
We both knew it wasn't a suggestion. Her eyes filled with angry tears but I couldn’t be bothered to care. I turned to leave when my eyes met his, I waited for his reaction, daring him to say or do anything instead he smirked, lifting his glass in my direction, amusement dancing in his eyes.
I glowered at him, making my way down the passageway, Delilah and Liam running after me. I headed up the steps, Delilah caught up to me.
“There's a toilet this way.” She led me out of the hall to a hidden door.
“Here.” Liam handed her his handkerchief as I headed into the toilet.
"Stupid f*****g brat. I should have broken the bottle on her head and made her kneel on the shards." I snarled, pulling the wet fabric away from my skin.
Delilah ran the handkerchief under the tap before coming over, cleaning the mess but only made it worse. I let out a growl of frustration.
Fucking brat
"I'll go bring another dress, just give me a few minutes." She uttered.
“Okay.” I mumbled, taking the handkerchief from her. “Help me with the zipper.”
She did as I said before leaving, I held an arm over my breasts and walked over to the mirror, using the handkerchief to wipe the sticky substance from my neck, chest and stomach.
I heard someone opening the door.
“Liam, I'm fi…”
The words died in my lips, as I looked at the mirror. My ruined mood soured further.
“What are you doing here?” I snapped. He closed the door behind him, my heart slammed into my chest as he clicked the lock in place. I spun around, making sure my arm covered my cleavage.
“If you think I’m going to apologise for what happened out there, then you're delusional.”
He leaned against the door, red eyes slowly roving over my exposed body. I tightened my grip on the gown, not letting it slip any further from my waist.
“I'm not stupid, I know what Olivia is capable of doing.” He replied, clearly distracted.
“And whose fault is that?!” I snapped. “You entertained her and now I'm the one who has to deal with her shenanigans.”
He tilted his head to the side.
“Do I detect jealousy, pet?”
My upper lip curled at his words.
“For me to be jealous, I would have to feel desire towards you. You can go f**k her for all I care.” I replied. In an instant, he had closed the distance between us, pinning me to the sink.
“W-what do you think you're doing?” I asked, eyes wide.
“So you wouldn't care if I were to…” he raised a hand, trailing his knuckle down the side of my face. “... do this to her.” His knuckle continued down my chin, thumb brushing my lower lip, his finger curling underneath my chin and raising my face to his.
My lips parted slightly as he pressed into me, his other hand resting on the exposed skin of my waist while his hand moved from my chin, down to my throat.
“You wouldn't mind if I pressed kisses to her neck… just like this…”
A gasp escaped my lips as he leaned down, pressing open mouth kisses on the exposed skin. My eyes drooped close, my knees buckling. The hand on my waist tightened and crushed me against him. His lips moved up my neck to my ear.
“Oh Olivia” He groaned, tugging on my ear lobe. A foreign feeling overtook me and a loud growl escaped my lips, reverberating around us. He pulled back, a vicious smile on his lips.
“There she is,” He whispered. I didn't need to look in the mirror to know my eyes were a glowing silver and my face had morphed. A warning snarl escaped my lips before I could stop myself.
“You can lie all you want Adelaide but the real you knows the truth.” He whispered as I fought for control. A whimper escaped my lips as he stepped away.
Eda damn this baser needs!!!
I finally got back control of my body and willed my features to morph back to my human face.
“f**k you Jacob Mont Blanc.”
He smirked.
“I look forward to it, pet.”
With that he made his way out of the toilet, leaving me stewing in anger and utter humiliation.
Delilah came back a few minutes after he left.
“Sorry it took so long.”
“It's fine.” I grumbled, stripping out of the dress, she helped me into the new dress.
“Help me get this off.” I mumbled, gesturing to the stupid necklace.
“Uh… isn't that the necklace Prime gave you?” She inquired.
“Yes it is and I want it off.”
“Oh… I don't know.” She trailed off. I turned to her, trying hard not to snap at her.
“Look, I'll tell him I removed it myself.”
She shifted from one foot to the other, an unsure look on her face.
“Um… okay, I guess.”
Fucking finally.
I turned and waited for her to remove it. My impatience grew as she continued to fiddle with it.
“Well? Why’s it taking so long?” I inquired.
“I can't get it off.” She explained. “There's no clasp.”
I frowned, turning to face her.
“What do you mean there's no clasp?!”
She brought out her phone, turning me around to take a picture.
“See, look for yourself, there's no clasp.”
My eyes widened at the picture.
Oh that bloody bastard!!!
I stormed out of the bathroom, Delilah calling after me. Liam was leaning against the wall and jumped at the sight of me looking absolutely furious.
“Woah!!! What's going on?!” He demanded, grabbing me. I snarled, struggling against his grip.
“I'm going to kill that asshole!!! He branded me with a glorified collar!!! Like some… some pet!!” I snapped. Liam turned his attention to the necklace, his brows furrowed.
“Wait… is that?”
“The bloody bullet I shot him with. He turned it into a stupid necklace and now I can't get it off because it has no clasp!!!” I growled. Delilah ran out of the toilet.
“Ms Adelaide, please you have to calm down.” She pleaded. I snarled at her.
“How would you like it if you had a leash around your neck?!”
She kept quiet, staring at me, a wary look on her face.
She's right Adelaide, as much as I would love nothing more than to watch you rip Mont Blanc, this isn't the place.
I closed my eyes, nodding before forcing my anger to subside.
“Fine, let's just go back.”
“I'lll have someone take this to the dry cleaners right away. You two head in.” Delilah said. Liam offered me his hand and I took it, together we headed back. Eyes were on us, the moment we walked in.
The brat was still kneeling, drenched in a pool of wine, the sight alone made me feel better. I smiled at Magnus and his family before heading to the head table where I sat next to Jacob. Ignoring him and Olivia's fuming father.
With a wave of Jacob's hand, the side doors opened and several uniformed people came in carrying dishes. The dinner part of the banquet officially began. I spied some of Olivia's friends trying to get her to eat but she snapped and growled at them. I chuckled at that.
Served the spoiled brat right.
*********** ************ ************
“Thank you for coming” I said to the last guests, the banquet had ended 30 minutes ago and it had taken another 30 minutes for all the guests to leave the hall.
“Luna”
I turned to see Delilah and her mother coming over.
“I didn't get to thank you for the beautiful dresses,” Ivanka said, grinning at me.
“It's nothing.” I replied.
“I have nothing but blessings for you and our dear Alpha Prime.” She leaned in closer. “Can't wait to see little ones running around.” She added, winking at me.
Over my dead body
“Good night Ivanka.” I said, watching as a mortified Delilah led her mother away.
“That's not a bad idea, you know.” Jacob uttered, coming to stand next to me. I glared at him.
“If you touch me, I will castrate you.”
He chuckled, glancing down at me.
“I hardly think that's what you'd do if you had my c**k in your hands.”
“You're no better than a savage” I snapped, storming down the steps towards the car. He joined me and we got in, the drive back to the house was quiet and soon we were in front of the cottage.
I got out and he followed me in. I turned to him.
“Take the damn necklace off.”
“What's wrong? Can't take it off yourself?” He inquired, an arrogant smile on his lips.
“You know I can't take it off asshole!!!” I snapped, tugging at the offending jewellery. He took a step towards me.
“And what do I get in return for taking it off?”
“Hmmm…” I pretended to ponder. “Oh I know, how about I don't stab you in your sleep?” I asked.
“Try again, pet.”
“Damn you Jacob, what the f**k do you want?!” I snapped.
“A kiss…”
“You're out of your mind.”
“On the lips.” He continued.
“Yeah, you are definitely out of your goddess damn mind.” I said, a humourless laugh escaping my lips.
“Alright then, the necklace stays. I wonder how long the layer of protection between the silver and your skin will last before the silver begins to burn your skin. Silver burns are incredibly painful, I should know.” He replied, heading deeper into the house.
Wait… what?!
My heart leapt into my mouth at the thought of being burnt by silver.
“Wait!!!” He stopped, turning to me. I stared at him before folding my arms across my chest.
“You're bluffing.”
“Am I?!” He asked, slipping his hands into his pocket. “Do you really want to take that risk?”
I scowled at him, he had to be bluffing… then again, he would have let Willow drink the poison had I not stopped her.
“It's just a kiss pet, unless of course, you're afraid your body will betray you.”
Anger flared within me at his insult. He was trying to egg me on and damn it if he wasn't succeeding.
“I'll talk to my healer to have an ointment ready.” He said, walking away.
“Fine!!! I'll kiss you.” I muttered, he turned back again.
“Was that so hard, pet?”
I kept quiet, glaring at him instead.
“Let's just get this over with.” I mumbled, walking over to him.
“Not so fast.”
I stopped, a frown on my lips.
“What?!”
“This way.”
What the…
I was sorely tempted to flip him off and head to my room but the image of waking up to burnt skin stopped me, so I was left with no choice but to follow him to the living room. He sat on the arm chair, legs spread. I stared at him, a brow raised.
“What are you waiting for?” He inquired, patting his thigh.
“You can't be serious.”
He didn't say anything, instead let his eyes rove over my dress.
“I must say I prefer this dress better.”
The hunger in his eyes was palpable and I was immediately reminded of what happened in the toilet.
It's just a stupid kiss, Adelaide.
I walked over to him, staring down at him before I perched on one of his legs.
“Come on pet, you can do better than that.” He whispered, wrapping his arm around my waist and pulling me fully onto his lap. I placed a hand on his chest, my tongue darting out to wet my lips before I looked up at him. His eyes were a deep shade of red. I swallowed hard before closing my eyes and pressing my lips to his.
“There” I said, pulling back, gasping when a hand to the back of my head stopped me from moving.
“That's not a kiss Adelaide.” He whispered, brushing his lips against mine. A moan escaped my lips as he captured my lips with his. His tongue parting my lips and delving inside, exploring and dominating every nook and cranny.
My hands moved of their own accord, wrapping around his shoulders, my fingers played with the hair at the nape of his neck, while I pressed myself into his, as the kiss became frantic. The need to be near him was overwhelming, I hated the layers of clothes that were between us. I wanted no I craved to feel his skin against mine. His hand slid down to the slit of my dress, fingers digging into my exposed thigh.
I had never been kissed as thoroughly as before… not even with Harry… HARRY!!!
My eyes snapped open and I pulled away, almost falling out of his lap but his quick reflex saved me. I pushed away, stumbling to my feet.
“There, you've gotten your stupid kiss, get this wretched necklace off me.” I demanded. He smirked, his elongated canine peeking out. I swallowed hard, an image of it piercing the spot between my neck and shoulder flashed through my mind, sending a shiver through me.
Snap out of it!!!
He got up from his seat and approached me.
“Before that kiss, I almost felt bad for deceiving you… who am I kidding? I don't.”
I stared at him, eyes wide, brows knitted together.
“What are you talking about?”
“The pendant, I had the silver neutralised. It's harmless.” He replied “but it's nice to know just how receptive you are towards my touch.”
I stood there, lips parted in shock as he left.
That fuc.king bastard had played me!!!!
