Slamming the door behind him shut, Maxwell flopped down on the bed and scowled. That was some splendid start to his morning, he grimaced. Not a week in London and his life was already spiraling out of control. All because of her! Irritated, his eyes fell on his reflection staring back at him from the ornate mirror on the wall and his scowl deepened. What a handsome face, capable of melting anyone's heart. But that was all that it was. A handsome face. Nobody knew what was underneath that mask. Nobody ever bothered. Everywhere he went, people were more taken by his exterior than who he was on the inside. And that served him just fine, he thought, as he stripped off his waistcoat and shirt.
