Chapter 6

1164 Words
Tabitha’s POV I followed him outside, the cool night air hitting my skin as we stepped away from the noise of the club. My mind was racing, my pulse still quick from the tension that had been simmering between us all night. Everything felt sharper, more real out here, and yet part of me still couldn’t fully understand what I was doing. Fabrizio didn’t say much as we walked, but he didn’t have to. His presence alone was enough to keep my mind spinning. He was a puzzle, a mystery I couldn’t quite figure out, and something about that drew me to him. There was a pull, something I couldn’t explain. It wasn’t just physical, though the way he looked at me—made my stomach twist with a mix of anticipation and nerves. It was more than that. He was different, dangerous even, but I couldn’t stay away. As we reached his car, he opened the passenger door for me, his movements slow and deliberate. I hesitated for a brief moment, the weight of the decision settling in. This wasn’t just about a ride home. It was about stepping into something new, something unknown. I could feel it in the air between us. But instead of turning back, I got in, my heart racing as he closed the door behind me. My mind was full of questions, doubts, but they were quickly drowned out by the quiet thrill of the moment. Fabrizio slid into the driver’s seat and started the engine, his hands moving smoothly over the controls. There was an ease about him, the kind of calm confidence that only made him more of an enigma. He didn’t ask where I lived, didn’t make small talk. We drove in silence, the city lights blurring past us as the streets grew quieter. I stole a glance at him, my nerves buzzing under my skin. His jaw was set, his focus on the road, but there was something about the way he held himself that made me wonder what was going on in his mind. Did he know what he was getting into? Did he have any idea that I had never done this before? That no one had ever touched me like that? I didn’t know what to say, didn’t know how to start a conversation that wouldn’t feel out of place in the quiet of the car. So I stayed silent, my hands resting in my lap as my heart pounded in my chest. After what felt like an eternity, he turned down a quieter street, pulling into a secluded driveway. The house at the end was large, the lights inside casting a soft glow through the windows. It was beautiful, but there was something intimidating about it too. Like it was part of a world I didn’t fully understand. Fabrizio cut the engine, but neither of us moved right away. The air between us felt thick with unspoken words, tension simmering just beneath the surface. “You don’t have to come in,” he said finally, his voice quiet but steady. His hand rested on the steering wheel, but his eyes were on me now, watching me closely. I swallowed hard, my mind racing. Did I want to go inside? My body was screaming yes, every nerve alight with the possibility of what might happen. But there was a part of me that hesitated. I didn’t know him. Not really. I didn’t know what he expected, what would happen if I crossed that threshold. “I want to,” I said softly, surprising myself with the conviction in my voice. He nodded once, his expression unreadable, and then he got out of the car, coming around to open my door. His hand brushed against mine as he helped me out, the touch sending a jolt of electricity through me. Every step I took toward the house felt like I was moving further into the unknown, but I didn’t stop. The door swung open, and we stepped inside. The warmth of the house hit me immediately, the soft glow of the lights casting long shadows across the polished floors. Everything about this place felt controlled, deliberate, like it was an extension of him. I felt out of place here, but at the same time, I felt drawn to it. Fabrizio closed the door behind us, and I turned to face him, my heart still racing in my chest. The quiet between us stretched on, filled with unspoken tension. I didn’t know what to say, didn’t know how to navigate this moment. All I knew was that I wasn’t ready to leave. “I’ll get you something to drink,” he said, his voice cutting through the silence. He turned toward what looked like the kitchen, leaving me standing in the entryway. I took a deep breath, trying to calm the whirlwind of emotions swirling inside me. I wasn’t sure what I had expected tonight, but this wasn’t it. Being here, in his space, with him—it was more intense than I had imagined. When he returned with a glass of water, I realized how dry my throat had become. I took it from him, our fingers brushing again as I sipped the water, feeling the cool liquid ease some of the tension in my body. “I don’t usually bring people here,” he said after a moment, his voice softer now, almost as if he were letting me in on a secret. I glanced up at him, surprised. “Why me, then?” Fabrizio didn’t answer right away. His eyes met mine, dark and unreadable, before he finally spoke. “I don’t know yet.” The simplicity of his response caught me off guard, but it also made something inside me relax. He wasn’t trying to play a game, wasn’t trying to impress me. He was just as unsure as I was, and for some reason, that made me feel a little more at ease. “I don’t usually do this either,” I admitted, my voice barely above a whisper. The words hung between us, heavy with meaning, and I knew he understood what I meant. His gaze softened slightly, and he took a step closer, his hand brushing lightly against my arm. The touch was gentle, careful, and for the first time tonight, I felt a flicker of uncertainty in him too. “You don’t have to be afraid,” he said quietly, his voice a low rumble that sent shivers down my spine. “I won’t push you into anything you’re not ready for.” The tension in my chest eased a little at his words, and I felt a small smile tug at the corners of my mouth. “I know.” For a moment, we stood there, the weight of the night settling around us. There was no rush, no pressure. Just the quiet understanding that whatever happened next, it would be on my terms.
