A shitload of lawyers

*Zac* As I speed through the streets, using my enhanced senses to keep us and everyone else safe, but my passenger of course has no idea about this. I am however happy Astrid isn’t in the car, she would not have approved. It doesn’t take long before I can feel how the dear Joseph tenses up. And I wonder if he is more scared for his life or for the expensive car. “What are you doing ? Slow down ?” He cries out, fighting with the seatbelt to get it on. Maybe next time he get in a car he will remember it from the start. “Sorry, I am in a bit of a mood, bad morning … You see, I was knocked out for a couple of days, and the new neighbors were making so much noise … you know how it is … You just feel a need to get the tension and aggressions out, right ?” I explain, smiling brightly. “And now there is you Joe, I just don't feel you are meeting me halfway … car sales are a two way street, am I right ?” I push down the accelerator a little more, waving in and out between cars, both those going in the same direction as us, and those going in the opposite. “Just … just let me out, please”. The car salesman starts begging, one hand already on the handle. “Feel free to jump out anytime”. I tell him with a grin. “Or you can just tell me who bought that red F355 ferrari”. “I can’t …”. He stops talking and grabs the dashboard, it seems like he is bracing himself. “Red light, red light”. I ignore it and slip in between two crossing cars. This is kinda fun, it has been a while since I have given anyone a good scare. Even if people are honking at us, like they are angry or something. “Okay … Okay it was Denton Ashton”. He half screams. “The Ashton boy bought the car”. “There it is, see how easy it was ?” I smile at him, lowering the speed a bit and taking the next turn back towards the dealership. There is Astrid, looking at the car with one brow raised as I park it and Joseph scrambles out, white as a sheet, mumbling to her. “He is insane”. “So I got the name … which means my plan worked”. I tell her with a smile as I jump out, pressing a quick kiss to herlips. “Denton Ashton is our guy”. A young man comes over and hands her a cup of coffee from a tray. “So did I, from Henning here, and all I had to do was ask nicely”. He hands me a cup of coffee too with a smile and I smile back. “Well thanks Henning, for everything”. Then I turn to Astrid. “I love this town … sometimes”. *Astrid* “Are you two avare that Denton Ashton is the son of John Ashton ?” Lisbeth says, as we are standing in her office, having just reported what we have discovered, so we can get her permission to look into it. “And the grandson of Nils og Gerda Ashton … yeah we get it”. I say with a sigh, to me peoples names don't make a difference when on a case. Zac looks from me to the boss. “Uhm I have no idea what we are talking about … should I know those names ?” “Have you ever, let’s say, driven down Ashton street or been to the Ashton museum ?” Lisbeth asks him. “I have to admit that I do not go to museums that often and I know I might be missing out, but …”. He starts in that tone that tells me he is about to get snarky. I cut him off to stop him from getting us in trouble. “Have you ever heard of Ashton town in the south of England”. “Wait, they got their own city ?” Zac asks, looking almost impressed. “That is where the family struck white gold … that would be salt about hundred and fifty years ago, built an empire and moved here for some reason … they are almost royalty, like business, rich people royalty, not the kind with a crown”. The boss explains. I shake my head slowly. “It doesn’t put them above the law though”. “No, but they do keep an entire law firm on speed dial”. Lisbeth says with a sigh. “They are know for burrowing anyone going after them in bureaucracy and counter cases”. “Great, if this Denton guy murdered our girl he is gonna need a whole law firm”. Zac says as he stands up, slapping his palms together. “Let’s go have a chat with him, see if he has anything to say”. Lisbeth stops him with a hand on his chest. “I agree, but just talk to him. The Ashton family is formidable. Keep it completely professional, respectful even … do not stir the pot”. “Why are you just looking at me ?” Zac says, glancing at me, then looking back at our boss. “Because you are the only one I am talking to, so pay attention.”. The boss says. “So, professional, respectful … shitload of lawyers … please make me proud”.
