"I sighed and slowly approached the throne. On the right side from the King of Gods I could spot Hera, as she obviously sat next to Zeus, Athena with an owl on her arm, beautiful Aphrodite who looked at me with jealousy, I think?

Left from all-father sat a man with a long beard, looking bored and clearly out of his element, Hephaestus, I believe. Then gorgeous twins Apollo and Artemis and another man.

He had neatly trimmed gold hair and short beard, and very dark, almost black eyes. He was staring at me intensely and I didn't like it one bit. His stare was dangerous, dark and intimidating. From his attire I assumed it was the God of War, Ares, himself. I shivered when a bad feeling went right up my spine and quickly averted my eyes from him. I saw him smirking in the corner of my eye.

Finally I stood in front of Zeus."

Asteria, the only daughter of Moon Goddess Selene and her husband Endymion lives her life happily and carelessly until her 19th birthday. As tradition dictates she is presented by her parents to the Gods of the Sacred Pantheon, with Zeus as their King, where she officially will be given her Goddess title.

A day that was supposed to be joyful and bright takes an unexpected turn, as Ares takes a claim on her and with support of his father he forces Asteria to become his bride.

With no other way to avoid this dreadful fate, Asteria flees from the Heavens Realm and descends to Earth, where her previous life comes to an end.

She will be reborn again only by her soulmate prayer, but with Fates' twisted ways, Asteria is woken up by accident, in an entirely new world, by a complete stranger and with no idea where to find her mate. To get used to her new reality she gives herself a new name and purpose in life, deep inside knowing that as soon as she unlocks her Goddess powers, Ares might want to claim her again.

Prologue - The birth of a forgotten Goddess
*Selene POV* It's him! I looked at the young warrior that was fighting one of the vampyrs that besieged the city of Uruk, with sword in his hand. Sweat rolled down his forehead, his eyes were squinted on the enemy. He wiped his bloodied lip with the back of his hand and I was closely watching his every move. I stood motionless in the middle of a siege with humans and vampyrs battling each other fiercely. The calling I've been feeling for many moons now, was finally clear. The Moon destined this man to me. With my eyes wide open, I walked slowly towards the warrior. What am I supposed to tell him? That the force of the universe bound our destinies together? I blinked rapidly. No, I can't just tell him that I'm a Goddess. One, surely he won't believe me and two, even if he does, he wouldn't want to have anything to do with me, a deity. I stopped in my tracks, confused. Why did the Moon tie our lives with each other? I'm an immortal Goddess and he is… well… just a human. In all of my thinking, I didn't realize that one of the vampyrs, chose me as the next target. It's not like he could do any real harm to me, I was immortal after all, but it doesn't mean it wouldn't hurt. "Watch out!" I heard my warrior yell and then I noticed that he was looking at me. He ran in my direction and that's when I noticed that a vampyr was lounging at me. I didn't have enough time to react so I kinda just reconciled that I'm getting bitten or something. I closed my eyes, expecting some kind of pain but it never happened. I slowly opened my eyes and saw my warrior in front of me, his sword piercing the vampyr's stomach. Its body dropped on the ground with a thump and I sat down, in shock, breathing hard. My warrior turned to me and kneeled, lifting my chin with his finger to look me in the eyes. "Are you okay?" He asked softly, his intense stare brought shivers to my entire body. "Your eyes… They are beautiful." I just breathed out, mesmerized by his violet gaze. He chuckled softly. "Thank you, but it's not the best time to flirt." He winked at me and I felt an intense blush covering my face. "Were you hurt?" I shook my head no and looked at vampyr's body. My warrior followed my stare and tried to block the view. "Don't look, it's okay, it can't hurt you." He spoke gently. I blinked. Huh? He thinks I'm some kind of damsel in distress? I huffed and got up, taking his sword out of his hands. Very big, strong, rough hands… Oh, come on! Not now, Selene! "Hey, what are you…?" He started but stopped abruptly as I cut the monster's head off. "You have to cut their heads off in order to kill them. They can survive any wound except for beheading." I explained and returned his weapon to him. He stared at me for a second and then burst out laughing. "I'll remember, thanks!" He laughed and stretched out his hand. "I'm Endymion." I put my hand in his and felt tons of tiny tingles erupting from the place our hands met. I took a deep breath. "I'm Selene. Thank you for saving me." We looked into each other's eyes, like we both were hypnotized. He was the first one to recollect. "I've never seen you here. You moved here from a different settlement?" Endymion asked, still not letting go of my hand and stepping closer. I, instinctively, took a step forward and shook my head. "I was just passing through." "Maybe you'll stay for a few days? It may be dangerous outside of the city now." He almost whispered, squeezing my hand a little harder. Huh? You don't want to let me go? "Maybe I will." I smiled and he followed. Endymion looked around. "The fight is dying down, vampyrs are letting go but there are still some survivors in town, I have to make sure they are beheaded properly." He winked at me. "Please, go somewhere safe and meet me tomorrow morning, here." I looked at him intensely and slowly nodded. He smiled one more time and ran away, shouting orders. I looked up at the Moon. ""Please, keep him safe."" I prayed in my mind, willing the force of my guiding Moon to create a shield around Endymion. The silver orb twitched brightly for a second and I could see a thin, silvery-blue hue reach Endymion and cover his body with a see through, impenetrable layer. How am I going to survive till tomorrow? *** The morning came and it brought a bunch of doubts. I'm immortal. Even if he is destined to me, even if he is my perfect pair, the one that Fates brought to me, he is still human. All we are going to have is, what? 50, 60 years together? If I let this man into my heart, how am I going to survive when he is gone? I fought with myself whether I should meet him or simply go back to Heavens and take an immortal consort. As soon as I thought about being with someone else, I had this nasty feeling. I thought about Zeus and his recent advances and nearly gagged. Like hell I'm going to take one of his kind to be my consort. I shook my head, trying to get rid of the nasty thoughts and just then I realized that I've been sulking and lingering for a while now. And it's not morning anymore, it's noon! I quickly walked towards the city center, when Endymion saved me last night, but I was pretty sure that he was not waiting for me anymore. Who would? I arrived at the exact spot where I met my destiny and looked around, he was nowhere to be seen. My heart dropped. Here I was searching for the one that Moon had for me and when I finally found him, I blew it by not showing up! Way to go Selene! You may end up with Zeus for all I care! I sighed heavily and felt tears pricking my eyes, threatening to fall, when I felt a large hand on my waist. By the tingles I knew exactly who it belonged to. I turned abruptly, only to be welcomed by his beautiful eyes and a broad smile. "I thought you stood me up." He said with a little amusement in his voice. "I'm glad you came." "I'm sorry, I…." I stuttered, not really sure what to say. I'm sorry I couldn't decide if I want to watch you die? I cringed. "It's okay. It was worth the wait." He winked, checking me all over. I blushed shyly, causing him to laugh some more. "Come on, the city still looks terrible after last night. I have some snacks and a blanket. Let me show you something." He said and without waiting for my response, grabbed my hand and dragged me with him. I hesitantly interlaced my hand with his and he flashed me an even more beautiful smile than before. I giggled and let him lead the way. We walked outside the city walls and up on the hill. In a few minutes he led me to a small clearing between the trees, with comfortable shade, green grass and even a small pond! "It's beautiful here! And it's definitely better here than in the sunny city." I smiled, excited. He chuckled and spread the blanket on the grass, motioning me to sit with him. "Not a fan of the sun and heat?" He asked, sitting very close to me. So close that our legs and hands touched each other. I tried to ignore the wonderful feeling of him being so close. Moreover, I tried not to think how his hands would feel on my body. Naked body. I felt a shiver run down my spine. I shook off these thoughts and smiled. "Quite the opposite. I prefer night time, a slight light of the moon and stars, and a cool breeze. I don't do well in the full sun." "So am I. Night is much more thrilling." Endymion said, wiggling his eyebrows. I giggled again. Like a teenager! And I do have a couple hundred years already. "Speaking of which. You are a warrior?" I asked. "Yeah, one of the officers responsible for the city's safety." He sighed, taking some grapes out of the basket and handing them to me. "Last night was intense, those creatures are getting more bloodthirsty." I've eaten a couple of grapes, looking in the distance. Then I noticed that Endymion was watching me carefully. "What?" "Nothing, just wondering how you knew how to kill them? It's not every day that a beautiful woman takes my sword away and cuts the monster's head off." He chuckled. "I travel. A lot. And during that time I've seen many creatures. Vampyrs, ones that attacked the city last night, are immortal. They can be killed only by beheading or when burned to ash. Most of them at least." I shrugged. "Are you a traveling priestess? What other creatures have you seen?" Endymion asked, genuinely interested, and leaned closer to me. "Traveling priestess?" I cringed a little. "Yeah, something like that. Have you ever seen shifters?" "No, I've heard about people who can change into animals but I've never seen one myself!" "My favorites are werewolves. There are also people who can change into wild cats, bears and dragons even." I smiled, watching how Endymion's eyes free bigger. I hope I can show you the world and that you won't run when I tell you who I really am. We stayed on that blanket for hours, talking and laughing up until the night started. He slowly stood up, giving me his hand to help me. "I've never spent such a good time with someone." He smiled, bringing me closer. My breath hitched. Is he going to kiss me? I fluttered my eyelashes, my mouth opened up slightly as his face got closer to mine. And when he was about to kiss me… "Commander! The general calls you in!" A young warrior surprised us, coming from behind a tree. Endymion closed his eyes and breathed in and out, slowly. His beautiful face scrunched up in anger. I almost giggled seeing his frustration that he was interrupted. I moved away from him with a small smile. For a second, he had a very sour look on his face. "I'll be right there." He sighed and turned back to me. "I wish I could stay." "It's okay, duty calls. See you tomorrow?" I asked shyly. He grinned, happy. "Definitely. Let's meet here around noon, okay?" I nodded and he came closer for a second, kissing my cheek. "I'll be waiting." He whispered with a wink and ran towards the city. I touched my face, where he planted his lips. Oh Gaia, this small gesture was enough to start a whole fire in my body. *** I came up to the meeting spot early, wearing my best, light-blue robes. The sheer thought of spending another day with Endymion was making me giddy all over. I walked around the small oasis, taking in the beautiful views. And then I heard a voice. "Selene, you are summoned by the Almighty." Hermes's monotone voice announced as he appeared behind me. I jumped in a place and turned swiftly. "Can you once not appear out of nowhere like a creep?" I scoffed, folding my arms. He looked at me, unamused. "I'm just doing my job." Hermes shrugged, looking around. "Why are you here anyway?" "I'm waiting for someone and that is exactly what Zeus will be doing. Cause I'm not going to meet him. He may wait the whole eternity for what I care about." I rolled my eyes, remembering my last encounter with the king of Gods and his pathetic attempts to seduce me. I shivered visibly, trying to shake off even the sheer thought of Zeus's touch. "What does he want from me anyway? I'm not his little minion, my parents were Titans, I don't exactly fall under his orders." "That is none of my business." Hermes shrugged again, now visibly annoyed. "My job is to deliver you a message and then deliver you to the Almighty." I scoffed. "Then you can fly right off, if you don't give me a reason, then I am not going with you." I c****d my eyebrow. "He said that there is a threat from the divine offspring and he needs your help." Hermes said, coming closer and grabbing my hand. "I don't really have time for this, I gave you a reason, now can we go?" "My help? Really?" I scoffed, trying to pull my hand from his grasp. "Let her go or I'm going to cut this hand off." Endymion's voice boomed throughout the clearing. He came from behind the tree line, one of his hands placed securely on his sword. My heart started to beat faster the moment I saw him. Hermes raised his eyebrow, now amused. "You can try." He sneered. I pulled my hand from his grasp and came to Endymion. "Hey. It's okay. It's an old friend." I smiled at him, putting my hand right on his chest. He looked at my hand, then straight into my eyes. His angry face now relaxed, with a broad grin. I rolled my eyes and giggled. "Seriously, Selene? He?" Hermes huffed, coming closer. Endymion's hand again rested on his sword. "What's that supposed to mean, asshole?" He growled out, squinting his beautiful violet eyes at the Messenger God. I got way too excited hearing his angry, dominant voice. "HE won't be happy about this." Hermes said and walked away, probably to report back to Zeus. "What is his problem?" Endymion huffed, looking at me. "He is your ex or something?" "What?! No, gods no. Yuck." I shivered. Endymion chuckled, stepping closer and putting his hands on my waist, pulling me in. I gladly obliged, feeling his muscled, hard body so close to mine. "Good. I would hate it if someone stole you from me now." He said quietly, his face now only inches from mine. "No one would dare." I whispered, closing my eyes. My perfect pair, my soulmate.
