Chapter 14: Safe and Sound

N/A So guys I've made a video. I don't know why, but the plot of this story just fit perfectly with the lyrics of this song. Anyway, that also the title of this chapter and the song. Artemis's POV. I woke up on the next day by the sun's light shined down my face. I looked out the window and the snow already fell as they cover the window. It really weird how the weather has changed after one night. Lucky the heater was automatically turned on. I sat up from the bed and the memories of yesterday just came flooding back. Omg, I can't believe we did it. I've broken my oath. The oath I'd kept for 2000 years. But I was happy that Percy was the one who did that. I felt sore inside. Yesterday was intense and now I regret that. It still hurt a lot even a night has already passed. I slowly pulled the blanket up and stared down at the bed sheet. We have made a pretty big mess. Look like we can't use this bed sheet for tonight. I looked down at Percy. He was sleeping peacefully with a bit of drool coming out from his mouth. Gross, Seaweed Brain. But he looked so cute when he was asleep. "Arty don't eat all the cookies" he muttered in his sleep. I chuckled with that and brushed his hair. He still thinks about food while sleeping. That's just impossible. I turned to the clock and realised it was noon. The hell, we woke up pretty late now. "Seaweed Brain" I shook him. "Seaweed Brain wake up! It's already late now." "Uh...five more minutes" he moaned and turned to one side. I growled and climbed on him. "Come on wake up" I shook him. "It's already noon. We've slept enough" To my surprise, he wrapped his arm around my waist and pulled me down next to him. He pulled me closer to his chest and continued to snored on top of my head. He just can't get up omg. Despite my mind wanted to rise. But being in his protective arms and the warm radiated out from his body. It really hard to resist from going back to sleep. "The blue pancakes are ready." I yelled. As fast as lightning, Percy sat up like a robot. He swept the drool of his mouth and looked around. "Blue pancakes? Where? Where?" I laughed out loud on the bed, clutching my stomach so hard that I nearly out of breath. Only food could control him. Percy looked down at me with a frown. Then realisation hit him, he pouted. "You lied to me Arty" I stopped laughing, well almost. "I didn't have any choice Seaweed Brain." "First of all" he scowled, pointed his finger at me. "Never lie to me about blue pancakes, blue cookies, blue waffles, blue-" "Yeah yeah" I cut him off, rolling my eyes. "Everything has blue colour. I know Seaweed Brain. You going to get up now?" I sat up next to him and took the blanket to wrap around me since we were still naked. "Why are you wrapping like that" he frowned. "I've seen yours already" I sighed at his stupidity. "Because I'm a girl Percy" I told him. "And I feel embarrassed and conscious walking around naked like that." "Oh so-" "No so or but" I stopped him. "I'm gonna hit a shower. You better get up soon" I started climb down the bed with the blanket wrapped around me like a dress. I walked into the bathroom but looked over the door, to see Percy laying back on the bed. "What are you doing?" I asked him "why aren't you getting up?" "Well" he said over the pillow. "Since there's no blue pancakes. I'm gonna go back to my dream with blue pizzas" "I swear to gods Seaweed Brain" I warned him. "If you don't get up now and fix the bed. You're gonna sleep on the sofa tonight. Don't even think about touching me later on." Hearing that, he sat up immediately. He groaned. "Fine! You're such a stubborn girl." "Better than you, Seaweed Brain" with that I closed the door behind me, leaving Percy fixing the bed. "Wow" I walked outside the house as the wind blasted again my face, the coldness of the snow dropping on my skin. "It's been a long time since I could see snow again" I said. "Yeah but be careful" he told me. "I don't want you to eat ice out here." "I'm not gonna fall Seaweed Brain" I called back to him, while running up a head. It was just so beautiful. This is actually the best honeymoon I've ever had. Everything around us already put on a layer of white snow. The trees, mountains and the roof of our house. The lake already frozen as it reflected the sky. I heard foot steps coming closer as I hid behind a tree. Percy came to view. Breaking some frozen water drops on the leaves and ate it. He was oblivious what was waiting ahead of him. I chuckled and bended down, rather some snow on the ground and rolled them into a snow ball. Right until Percy moved a tree's bough away. I threw the snowball at hit face, knocking him off by surprise. He sat up, rubbing his nose. "Oh ho ho" he grinned, diving into a bush. "You want world war three Arty." He made a snowball and threw it at me. I just dodged that easily. He never good at shooting. He tried to run from his hide but I threw a ball straight to hit butt. "Hey that's not fair." He complained. "Why not Seaweed Brain?" He yelled over the tree. "You're better than me at shooting" he said. "You shouldn't challenge me to do that." "But I like it." I smirked. "Also you fought back. So you've accepted the challenge" "Fine" he sighed. "Watch your back Stubborn Girl." He jumped out from his hid and grabbed the snow on the ground then threw at my spot furiously like a machine gun. I bended down and made another ball. I jumped out from my spot. A snowball passed my head only a few millimetres. I threw mine at Percy and it hit him right on the forehead. That knocked him to the ground immediately. "Urg that's hurt Stubborn Girl" he groaned. "This is not fun at all" I walked closer to him and climbed on top of him "So who's the winner now." I smirked, staring down at his eyes. "Well..." I didn't know Seaweed Brain could think. He wrapped his arms around me and turned me to the ground. He stared down at me. "You want another fight?" He asked. "Or you surrender to me?" "Not until you give me a price in return" I smiled at him. "Hm..." He looked up, thinking for awhile. "How about this?" I leaned down and clashed his lips onto mine. It took me by the surprise as I wrapped my arms around his neck, pulling him closer. We pulled away from each other, the tips of our noses still touched as we shared the warmness from both of our breaths. "I may accept that price." I grinned at him. "You can't deny it Arty." With that we both leaned in again. The snow dropping on us at we laid there, kissing under the winter day. *Night come* After dinner, which Percy helped me to cook of course. We were now laying on the sofa in the living room. Staring at the fireplace that was warming us. The Christmas tree at the corner made the place even more beautiful. The window closed, the snow still dropping as the moon light shined through the window. Percy's POV We both laid on the sofa. I had my arms around Artemis's waisted as her back leaned on my body. She was playing with my fingers while I inhaling the forest and natural scent coming from her hair. I moved my hand to the turntable that was placed next to the sofa. The disc already on so that I just put it to play. The guitar music stared to play. Apparently there was this singer name Taylor Swift. Her voice is pretty good that she had taken an interest on Arty. I remember tears streaming your face When I said, "I'll never let you go" Her voice came up as Arty turned back to me. "You brought her song here too?" "Yeah" I stroked her hair. I really liked this song. It fitted perfectly with our life. I don't know if this is a coincidence or not. Even the first line. That was when Arty decided to go to Mount Tam. That was time when we both nearly break up when I killed those people. Artemis laid back on my chest again and enjoyed the music. I remember you said, "Don't leave me here alone" "Hm" Artemis laughed. "Bring back the memories huh?" "Yeah." I said and hugged her closer. But all that's dead and gone and passed tonight. Yeah, if anything we've all done. Every crime and bad memories we have got. It was time to leave behind. Artemis snuggled closed to me. Like she was telling me to forgive myself. The let the past go. Just close your eyes The sun is going down We followed the lyrics as my eyes just closed back. I hugged Arty even closer. You be alright No one can hurt you now I heard a sob. I knew she felt it too. The song was telling us about our life. Everything we have faced. But tonight, I would let it all pass. I kissed her forehead. Telling her I would protect her, telling her that no one could ever harm her or hurt her again. Come morning light You and I be safe and sound. "Where did you find this song?" Artemis whispered to me. "Just a coincidence I guess" I told her. "It's just so much true about us." She said. "And I need it." "Yeah I know" I kissed her forehead again as I hugged her close. "I know." Don't you dare look out the window darling Everything's on fire. The wind blasted against the window and Artemis scooted closer to me. I interlocked our fingers to calm her. The war outside out door keeps ranging on We both laid there silently. This is the only safest place for both of us right now. Considering that the war was actually ranging on among us. I hugged Artemis closer. To reassure her. Hold on to this lullaby And even when music's gone. Both both started to felt asleep by now. The song really calmed me. Like a lullaby actually. To relax you, after all the wars and the recent. I really just hoped for a moment like this. Hugging Arty while enjoying the music. Just close your eyes The sun is going down You be alright No one can hurt you now Come morning light You and I be safe and sound. My eyes started closing and finally. We both felt asleep in the winter night. Warmed by the fire and the song. A smile appeared on both of our faces.
