And she had never spent so much time underwater, either. After a lifetime of avoiding the sea, she suddenly found herself plunging into it again and again.
At first, the dives beneath the waves were so sudden and surprising that she wasn't prepared. Though Seek had told her to take breaths when he surfaced and hold them when he went under, Raka swallowed a lot of water and got dizzy for lack of air. The Kee must have expected this, because he kept his first few dives brief and came up often for air until she got used to it.
