Chapter 11

1004 Words
I was in awe, watching the simplest thing that I once in my life thought was impossible. I had read about it in my mom’s grimoar but I had never managed it on my own. Maya, Edward and Nick had together made another coven member float in mid air. ”That was amazing.” ”Wanna give it a try?” Nick asked and how he looked at me, made me smile. ”Eh, yeah? How can that be a question?” I answered making them all laugh at me. ”Okay, so Edward if you will?” Maya said and he nodded as he stepped in the middle of the rest of us. ”Hold hands.” She instructed and held her hand out for me to take. I took it and turned to Nick and took his. The moment my hand was in his, my skin was on fire. I didn’t want to feel what I felt, so I ignored it. I looked back at Maya but I still felt his eyes on me. ”Now the spell, only the first times you do this you have to actually say the words. Like most spells when you’ve done it a bunch of times you can just think it and it works.” ”Really? That’s kind of cool.” ”Yes, now let’s focus. The spell, ’mungah menyang undarah’.” ”Mungah menyang undarah?” I repeated her words. ”You're good with new spells, the pronunciation is perfect.” Maya praised me, making me blush a little. ”Are you guys doing this or should I get up?” Edward asked from his sitting position in between them. ”Alright, alright. Chill.” Maya said and Nick just laughed at the two. ”Mungah menyang undarah” Maya said and as she went to say it again me and Nick joined in. ”Mungah menyang undarah, mungah menyang undarah, mungah menyang undarah, mungah menyang undarah” Suddenly Edward floated higher and higher until he was above us. ”Keep focusing.” Maya said as her eyes never left Edward. I kept my own eyes on him as well but the feeling of Nick squeezing my hand a little made my mind do cartwheels. At the loss of control sent Edward falling to the floor with a bang. ”Ouch!” He exclaimed. ”Sorry.” I said with an apologetic look. ”I told you not to lose focus. Focus is the key, without focus it could kill you.” ”Maya!” Nick said with a raised voice. By the look on his face and how he said it I just knew. That had been the reason for his aunt’s death, they were young and lost focus. We tried a few other smaller spells, just so I could get a hang of the whole magic thing. I got to show what I had learned from mom’s book and for the first time in a long time I was myself and it felt like being a kid again. Nothing was out of reach, there’s no limit to what I could do or what we could do together. I had been unsure on being a part of the coven before today, not wanting to be a part of what my mother had run away from. But it hadn’t been the coven, it had been all that was magic and the coven was just a part of it. Being together made me, us, stronger. ”That was kind of awesome!” I said once we were back in Maya’s apartment. ”What part?” She asked cryptically. ”All of it? I never felt that good. Like I was on top of the world.” I threw my hands in air and twirled, like a little girl in a princess dress. ”I didn’t know a person could make you feel that way..” She smirked at me. ”Person? What are you..? Nick really Maya?” I put my hand on my hips and turned to look at her. ”What? I saw the looks and everything. Plus he is superhot.” Maya went on like it was nothing, going to the fridge and took out two bottles of water. ”I’m with Marcel. Forgot about the guy you met last night?” I asked and took the bottle she offered to me. ”Oh, right. Well, you never know what will happen.” She kept pushing it. ”Maya, I’m serious. I think I might love him.” I confessed, something I hadn’t said to myself yet and it took me by surprise a bit. ”Okay, I will leave it. Just saying that the spark I saw between you where.. magical.” I gave her a look and took a sip of water, shaking my head. *** IN THE DARK REALM The dark of my office kept my mind on the right path, no distractions or bother from the outside world. I couldn’t believe that after all these years we were finally getting our revenge. An eye for an eye so to speak. My plans had been set into motions years ago but the missing piece of the puzzle, the key player had been nowhere to be found. Until now. She had finally moved back and fulfilled the circle, the coven. I take a breath and quietly count down, ”Three, two, one..” it was followed by a knock on the door. ”Come in Edson.” I told my loyal subject. ”The plan is going as we wanted it to, master.” He presented which he knew would please me. ”Great, is my son back yet?” I asked him. ”I’ll go find him, sir.” He turned to walk out the room but stopped before he reached the door. A dark shadow had gotten his attention, I knew who it was. My son always knew how to make an entrance. ”No need, I’m right here father.” He said and walked through the door. ”How is the progress with the girl?” I asked as I stood up and walked over to the small bar wagon in the corner of my office. ”Right on track.” He told me as I poured myself a whiskey. ”Good. Your mother is insisting on a proper family dinner tonight.” I walked over to my desk and sat down looking at him. He looked just like me when I was in my twenties. Maybe a little soft but it comes with age and loss. ”I’ll be there.” He said before walking out the same way he had entered.
