In the Dungeon

1508 Words
William said my blood levels are high. I’ve no idea what it means, but Sophia told me that witch’s and angelic blood is more special than blood of the other species. She also said that there’s no witch because they’re quite hard to imprison and it’s also difficult to keep them there.   I guess I’ll have to go for an angel’s blood. I fought with Ava and we’re not friends. She has an inclination towards demons so this could fool William.   Hopefully.   However, to acquire an angel’s blood will take a little bit of courage. I’ll have to descend to the dungeon.   I remember the way. It’s not something I could forget that easily. I’m heading towards the storage. When I open the door silently, I see it hasn’t changed at all. I push the secret button and the staircase is revealed. I descend without no fear. There’s light at the end although I hear no voices.   The room is full of shelves with books, symbols, weapons. I recognize some of them. I wish I had more time than just one night. I should really keep going, but it all catches my attention and I’m amazed. It reminds me of my father’s (Selene’s father) treasury. The gold and jewels are not the only precious in the world. There are many powerful books and instruments in this room.   There’s a feeling inside me. It’s very silent, but it’s still there. I gaze at the wooden box. It’s exactly in the middle, but it looks ordinary and not significant at all.   Hidden in an eyesight. Right in the middle, yet invisible.   I lift up the top and there’s some resistance, but it disappears after a short moment and then I peep through. I stare at the object and I can’t believe it. There’s the Mirror dagger made of crystal, forged by one with a pure heart. I would recognize it everywhere.   I take it with my hand and I examine it closely. I’m not sure whether this one is the real one or not, but I’ll not try it here. There’ll be plenty of time to test it when I’m in my room. I hide the Mirror dagger well. I don’t want my blood spilt for no reason moreover in this dangerous place. This is not my plan for tonight after all.   I open massive vault-like door and then I decide to not to turn on the lights. Although I don’t have my night vision (one of my most favourite skill) I can see contours. There’re special cells and creatures inside.   Vampires hiss at me. When they smell my blood, their eyes widen with lust. Werewolves growl at me. The man with hands of wooden twigs and hair of green grass smiles at me peculiarly with his razor-sharp teeth. He looks amused and he watches me closely.   I should keep my mouth shut and continue with my task, but I can’t. I feel somehow attached to them, at least Yara does, Selene not so much. We’re both aware of a great risk we undertake here.   The creatures look miserable though. They’re barely kept alive. I see they’re mall-nourished. Even though they should be strong and they should have no problem getting out of here, they’re still there. Selene is not very content but Yara wishes to know more. This time, Yara wins over Selene.   Wait, did I just mention they should be able to get out of here? How do I know?   “Silly little girl,” one vampire hisses half hallucinating, “this is no place for a human,” he spits angrily, but then his shoulders loosen just as he’d have lost his strength. He sits down and breathes heavily.   I should… No Yara, don’t!   “Why are you here?” I demand.   “Shouldn’t you be interested in whether they’re guards or cameras, human girl?” the other vampire spits.   He got me. I don’t have a clue, but if they’re there, I’m in trouble. I quickly check corners or other possible places where they could have hidden the cameras, but I see none.   “Why are you here?” I try to act cool, but this is hard for me.   “We should ask the very same question!” One person, who looks at the first glance as a human, grumbles. He seems annoyed. At the second glance, I see however that his eyes are completely black. This one must have a demonic inclination.   “Ok, if you want to waste my time, I can leave. I’m not interested,” I announce and then I turn back with intention to leave.   “No, don’t go,” the one with silver eyes pleads. His voice is soft like silk and also sad. “There’re no cameras, nor guards,” he sighs and the others grumble loudly in anger or disbelief.   “Why’re there no guards? And why are you here?” I ask again and this time pity and real interest master my voice.   “The dungeon is sealed. We’re prisoners, we’re left here to be forgotten,” he whispers very silently.   “For how long have you been here and who are y…” I want to know, but I don’t even finish my sentence and I’m interrupted.   “Just stop,” demon hisses and rolls his eyes. “What do you want from us?” he spits hostilely.   “Our blood is at your service, human girl,” ghoul laughs poisonously from the back. “Isn’t it what you came for?”   This is the first time I hear his voice. Shivers go down my spine.   How does he know? Am I too predictable? Or can he read my mind?   “If you want blood just take it. It wouldn’t be the first time for us. We have been deprived of many other things including our blood and our abilities. This is what you’re supposed to do, this is what you’re going to do in the future. You’ll hunt, you’ll kill and you’ll probably enjoy it, so you can start with me now!” he laughs.   “What’re you…” one of the vampires tries to say something, but ghoul continues in his speech.   “I want to be your first victim, if you have the balls to do that, of course. I won’t give up my blood or my life easily. You can put me asleep, you coward, but you know the things you put in our food in order to deprive me of my strength devaluate my blood. You need nice and fresh blood for your experiments you know…”   “Stop!” the others shout.   “I won’t!” he shrieks. He must be very desperate. “Open the cell and you shall have my blood, human trash,” he bellows, “but first, you need to earn it by killing me, otherwise there’ll be no blood for you and your twisted desires!” he laughs in desperation.   His words echo from the walls and the other creatures get silent. The ghoul is the only one who’s still laughing. They all look at me.   A feeling creeps into my bones unexpectedly. It’s as if my powers waved at me from the distance. I can sense them but I can’t access them. The thread is there however.   “So much anger against humans,” I say quietly and this surprisingly silences him. The voice sounds unfamiliar as if it wasn’t even mine. He’s also taken back by them and he watches me closely.   “Who are you?” he demands and the others stare at me constantly also waiting for my answer.   “Save your breath,” I retort, “if I wanted your blood, I’d have already taken it,” I announce regally.   As I’m looking at the ghoul and talking with him, I didn’t notice I got closer to one of the cells. Suddenly a werewolf grasps my leg with his strong claws and he pulls me quickly closer so I fall down. A vampire doesn’t wait for the invitation and grabs my hand. I think my other hand is wrapped with twigs with leaves. The Fae preys on my body.   I feel pain in my hands and also my right leg hurt. The vampire drinks my blood. He tries to suck me dry and werewolf’s claws wound my body. The Fae sucks my life energy too.   I try to fight back, but their grip is actually quite strong. I’m mere human and I have no skills, no abilities. The only thing I have is Selene’s/my memory, but without any of her powers in my body.   What is time?   It is just a wheel which follows its own rules until the change reverses the flow.   And this is the same for death.   They cannot kill me. Only the Mirror dagger can. But they can help me with something else. It seems that when I’m close to the creatures I suddenly feel. I can sense my power.   Let’s try my theory then.
