Chapter 7: Elizabeth's POV

"Okay, we're here", Sebastian said with a concerned voice as he stopped the car. We all climbed out of the car. Sebastian took out a map and started showing me in which direction I had to walk. "You just need to keep heading East. You should reach the Black Claw pack territory in about 15 minutes", Sebastian said. They all looked worried, even Susan. "You guys have nothing to worry about", I said. "I'll do just as you guys said, so I'll be fine." I hugged Audrey and Sebastian. "Susan, can I hug you? This might be the last time you're seeing me", I said with an awkward chuckle. She sighed and then pulled me in for a hug. "Be careful", she said. "We're going to wait for you right here. If they turn you back, we'll just go find another pack", Audrey said. "Yea, so don't lose hope", Sebastian said. I started walking into the forest. I kept checking the map to make sure I was going in the right direction. After about 10 minutes of walking I started announcing myself, in case they were hiding in the bushes. "Blood Claw pack, I know this is your territory and that I'm trespassing. I'm a human girl and I need your help. I have a friend. He is a werewolf just like you and he's been kidnapped. I've come to ask your help to find him. Please help me", I said with a shaky voice. I repeated this a few more times until I heard someone say "stop right there". "Look, I need your help. My friend was kidnapped. He's a werewolf", I said in a rushed tone. "Then get your friend's pack to save him", the voice responded. "He doesn't have a pack! Can you at least show your face so I know who I'm talking to?", I said as I stopped walking and stood right where I was. All of a sudden about 15 tall and very muscular looking men stepped out of the bushes. The were all pointing guns at me. I almost started to panick, but I had to stay calm so I just started taking deep breaths. One of the men started walking towards me. He looked like the leader. He was taller than the others, had a shaven head and dark brown eyes. His dark skin looked amazing when the sun reached him through the thick trees. "Are you asking us to go rescue a rogue wolf?", he said as as he narrowed his eyes. "I'm asking you to save one of your own. It doesn't matter whether he belongs to a pack or not. He is a werewolf just like you and he needs help", I said with my most confident voice. "Mike", one of the other men called out to the man standing infront of me, "should I shoot her?" Mike saw my face start filling with fear. "Not yet", he answered. Mike didn't look that much older or taller than Mathew. He looked at me curiously, like he wasn't sure of his next move. "I've mindlinked Jonathan", Mike said. "He'll tell us what to do. Let's start walking to the pack house." Four men, including Mike, started walking with me further into their territory. They weren't pointing their guns at me anymore, but I could tell they were watching my every move. After walking for about 5 minutes, another man appeared. He looked a bit shorter than Mathew, probably 6ft1; whereas Mike looked like he was about 6ft4. The man had blonde hair and piercing blue eyes. He was lean and his whole body was toned. I could see an eight pack behind his tight black shirt. Judging from the way the other men and Mike reacted when he arrived, I assumed he was their leader. This man stood there for a few seconds while his and Mike's eyes turned grey. Afterwards their eyes returned to their normal colour and he started speaking to me. "Hi, I'm Jonathan. I'm the future alpha of the Blood Claw pack", he said as he extended a hand shake to me. "You say you want help finding your friend?" I shook his hand and introduced myself. "Hi Jonathan. I'm Elizabeth. I'm human and yes, I need help to find my friend. He's a werewolf, just like you." Jonathan gave me the same curious look Mike had given me. I was just hoping they wouldn't kill me. "Elizabeth, we'll take you to my father. He is the current alpha. We'll see what he says, but don't hold your breath. He might not help you." "Thank you, Jonathan. I really appreciate that", I said with a serious tone." Jonathan, Mike and the other three men led me to the rest of their pack grounds. We walked past some fancy looking town houses, a beautiful park and a few ponds. I was in awe of the place. It looked so green and well-kept. I hadn't seen a lot of houses yet, but I could the rest of the territory had a lot more things on it. We finally arrived at what Jonathan called the "pack house". It was one of the biggest mansions I'd ever seen in my life. I stopped the second it came into my line of sight. It was a large building that looked like it had at least 5 stories. There were luxurious cars parked outside and people were constantly going in and out of the building. Jonathan cleared his throat after I'd been gawking at the building for a few minutes. "Oh, my bad", I said. "That's okay. It's a magnificent building", he said. "You can say that again", Mike said with a chuckle. When we stepped inside, my knees almost buckled. There were two long staircases leading to the next floor. When I looked to the far end of the building I could also see elevators. I saw a huge grand kitchen, two living rooms and what looked like a gaming area. I wanted to see more, but Jonathan led us in another direction of the house. There was art, sculptures and family photos in all the halls he led us through. We finally arrived at a door on the second floor and Jonathan knocked on it. "Come in", I heard the person on the other die of the door say. "Hey dad", Jonathan said as he opened the door. "Hey son", the older looking gentleman said. I could tell he was related to Jonathan. He looked slightly older than Jonathan but they had the same features. He just had brown eyes instead of blue. He was also more muscular than Jonathan. I thought they'd be brothers, not father and son. Jonathan's dad stood up and walked towards us. "What do we have here?", he asked while looking at me suspiciously. "Dad, this is Elizabeth. She says she's human and she wants our help to save her werewolf friend who's been kidnapped", Jonathan said. "Elizabeth, this is my dad, Alpha Gideon. He's the current alpha of our pack." His dad started sniffing the air around me and eyed me suspiciously. "She's lying", Alpha Gideon said while looking at me with narrowed eyes. "Sir, I promise you I'm not lying. I am human. I pose no threat to you. I have no reason to lie", I said with a panick-stricken voice. "I came here knowing you might kill me because I need your pack's help to find my friend. Please, you have to believe me." "You're not human", Alpha Gideon said. "That's what Mike and I also thought, but we had to be sure", Jonathan chimed in. "No, you're mistaken", I started pleading with them."Look, in order to find your pack, I had to get help from other supernatural creatures. You're probably smelling them on me. I promise you I'm human." "No, we can smell the scent of inklings and seers on you. Your scent, however, is not that of a human", Alpha Gideon said. "To most magical creatures you'd probably smell human. Heck, even young wolves might think you're human. However, werewolves have the keenest sense of smell amongst magical creatures. We know that's not really the scent of a human", Jonathan said. "And that's why we will not help you", Alpha Gideon said with the most nonchalant voice. "Alpha Gideon, please. Please don't turn me away!", I said with tears in my eyes. "No use begging. I've made up my mind. Mike, please escort her from our pack grounds." Just as Mike was grabbing my arm, Jonathan stopped him. "Mike, please step out of the office for a bit. I'd like to talk to my dad about something", Jonathan said. Mike nodded his head and he and the other men led me outside Alpha Gideon's office. "You guys head back to the border. I don't think she'll be any trouble", Mike said to the other guys. After they walked away, Mike walked closer to me and placed his hands on my shoulders. He crouched to my height and looked into my eyes for what seemed like an eternity. After a few minutes I chose to speak up. "You're the weirdo of the pack, aren't you?" He started laughing. "Maybe you're a nymph disguised as a human", he said. "I met some nymphs when I was 10 years old and they cracked me up. Maybe that's what you are." "Do nymphs have any special powers", I asked him. He paused to think. "They can manipulate the earth and any life that springs from it. They're almost like inklings, except nymphs are more connected to the earth, while inklings are more connected to magic." "Hmmmmm", I said. "You know what I think? I think this pack is afraid of a little human, so now you're all just making up a bunch of balony!" Mike laughed again. "I definitely think you're a nymph!", he said. I stared at Mike while we both laughed. I couldn't understand why, but I felt like I could trust him.
