Chapter 27: Audrey's POV

2751 Words
"My love, why did I have to hear from my warriors that you're back? You know I would have welcomed you with open arms at the gate." Jonathan sat next to me on one of the large wooden benches near our pack's blessed river. He always insists that he should at least be allowed to wait for me outside the sacred cave, but that's not possible. The cave is sacred and was shown to my order of seers by the Moon Godess. We are the only ones who can see it, touch it or smell it. It's location is unknown to others and it should remain that way. For this reason, I go to the cave and return alone without my usual security escort. The first few times I went to the cave, I returned to the pack to find my mate mid-shift. Not knowing where I was and not being able to contact me for hours nearly drove him insane. I had to hurry back to the pack each time to calm him and his wolf. It's been about two years now and he has gotten more used to it. I have returned home each time without a scratch on me so he has learned to trust that the Moon Godess is the one guiding my journey to and from that cave. He laced his arm around my waist and picked me up to sit in his lap. I wrapped an arm around his shoulders and placed my other hand on his chest. "You worry too much, Jay. I made it back in one piece. I just wanted to sit here for a few minutes and...breathe." He picked up on my mood. "Evangeline again, huh?" He held my face and I could see all the concern in his beautiful blue eyes. I smiled and gently kissed his forehead. "It's nothing I can't handle, Jay." We looked at the beautiful garden and the majestic river infront if us. The reflection of the moon and stars in the water made this the perfect evening. It was cold tonight, but not here. The Black Claw's blessed river was warm and the small garden around it was also warm. Every member of the pack comes here after their first shift. They swim in the blessed waters and then after that they are blessed with the ability to keep their clothes after every shift. Only two people who aren't pack members have been invited to swim in these waters- Mathew and his beta, Kendrick. Mathew was invited to swim in the waters when he visited the pack in his capacity as the werewolf king. Our pack was the first one he visited, but we could tell the visit was difficult for him. He even cut it short. We understood though because this is where he lost Elizabeth. There were too many things here that reminded him of her. He rejected our invitation. Well, it wasn't an outright rejection. He said he would swim in the waters the day he found his queen. It sounded very sweet to everyone else, but Jonathan, Kendrick and I knew the truth. It was a declaration that he wouldn't stop trying to find Elizabeth. A declaration that despite all my warnings, he didn't care and would continue with his search efforts. Kendrick was all too happy to swim in the waters. After he emerged from the water, he shifted into his large grey wolf and his and Esther's wolves ran through the pack. When they returned and shifted back into their human form, they both still had their clothes on without so much as a crease in the clothes. Since I'm not a shifter, there has never been a need for me to go into the water, but I like coming here. The place is beautiful. "Have I ever told you why these waters are blessed?" Jonathan was rubbing my back while planting kisses on my neck. I chuckled. He has told me the story thousands of times. It's his favourite story to tell and my favourite to listen to. "No, my love", I said jokingly. "You have never told me the story. Please tell me. I want to hear it." He kissed my lips gently and started telling me the tale he tells me almost every night. "There were once three sisters, all of pure alpha blood. Their father married each of them off to cruel men so that he could gain land, power and status. The three women were tormented by their husbands who used them as nothing but breeders for strong pure alpha blooded pups." He stopped to kiss my hand and rub my stomach. "I hope you're also listening, little one. I will be quizing you on this story when you and I meet in a few months." I chuckled. "By Selene's grace, two of the sisters managed to escape their husbands. It was the two youngest sisters. They embarked on a dangerous journey to free their elder sister. Disguised as omegas, they infiltrated the pack and found the cell where their sister had been held since her marriage to that cruel man. It was clear that her tormentor was much more devious and vicious than theirs. He too only used her as a breeder, but he also bedded other women, slowly killing her with his betrayals day by day." I exhaled loudly. I may have heard this story plenty of times, but it always gives me goosebumps. "Then what?" I was waiting to hear the next part in anticipation. Jonathan is an amazing storyteller and no matter how many times I hear his stories, I can never get enough. He chuckled and I felt the deep vibrations of his voice against my chest. "They broke the silver chains that were holding their sister and even found a way out of the pack. However, the moment they left the pack, the cruel alpha knew his wife had escaped. He knew she couldn't be far because the silver and his betrayals had left her a shadow of her former self." "The two younger sisters did their best to carry their sister and they got far, but not far enough. The cruel alpha caught up with them and the moment he saw his wife, he threw a silver dagger that went straight through her heart." A cold shiver ran through my back. "The two younger sisters wept for days. They felt their sister's death and the pain was just too much for them. They buried their sister in a grave they dug up with their own hands. Then they lay next to the grave, hoping that they too would die there and see her in the afterlife." I took a deep breath because I knew that the best part was coming up. "As they took their last breaths in the cold winter night, a river appeared out of nowhere. They could feel the warmth coming from the river, but they did not want to go to it. They wanted to die in the cold and be reunited with their sister once more. What they didn't know was that it was their sister who asked the Moon Godess to save them and create the river for them." "A strong wind picked up the two stubborn sisters and their bodies landed in the warm water. Engulfed in the warmth, they instinctively swam to the surface of the waters to breathe in their chance at a new life. Although they were on barren land, life started growing around the river. Flowers and fruit trees started sprouting from the ground and they were able to nourish themselves." I let out a relieved sigh. "They set out on a new journey to kill all three husbands and avenge their sister." His hands tightened around my waste. "Did they end up getting their revenge?", I always asked him this question when the story ended. "Not revenge, my love, but justice. And legend says they did indeed get justice for their sister." He planted a kiss on my forehead. "Jay", I said as I rubbed the back of his neck, "I know there's no need for me to go into the these waters because I'm not a shifter, but I'd like to do it. I'm the luna of this pack. I should also go through these waters like our people." He smiled at me. "I couldn't agree with you more, my love." I stood up and pushed my hair to the side so that he could unzip my dress. I felt him kissing my shoulders as he pulled the zipper down and gently tug the dress until the silky gown lay on the floor. His hands pulled my lacy underwear down until I stood naked infront of him. He turned me so that I could face him and held my face in his hands. His blue orbs searched my dark brown eyes. "How did I end up so lucky, Audrey?" He crashed his lips into mine before I could respond. He cupped my behind with his large palm and a moan left my mouth. I broke our kiss to take a breath. "You should get undressed, Jay." I had a huge grin on my face as I helped him take off his clothes. He chuckled and left a trail of wet kisses on my neck while I helped him undress. He finally stood naked before me. I was admiring his perfectly chiseled body that was towering over me. His blonde hair was slightly longer than it normally is and hanging around his neck. His body was glistening in the moonlight and I could see the outline of every single hard muscle on his body. He stretched his hand out to me. I took it and he led me into the river. When my feet touched the water, I wanted my whole body to be engulfed in the warmth of the water. We continued walking until just my head was stick out of the water. Jonathan is much taller so he could have gone in to the much deeper end, but he stopped right next to me. He titled my head upward and kissed me. He was about to lift me, but I splashed water in his face and swam away from him. I dived into the water, but when I opened my eyes I found myself somewhere else. I wasn't in the river anymore. It was too dark to see where I was. I couldn't see anything. I couldn't smell anything. Then I saw light in the dark space. It was two blue orbs approaching me; just like the vision we saw in the sacred cave. I knew those eyes the moment I saw them. It was Raphael. His menacing smile appeared moments later. I looked around the room and one by one a pair of blue eyes opened up. I was surrounded by Raphael's evil witches. One by one, they all lit their torches by fire and I could finally see the rest of the room. I was in some sort of crypt. Were they going to bury me alive? The witches all snarled at me in their long white gowns and red capes. They were all looking at me...and Raphael. His long silver hair cascaded over his broad shoulders. His pale white skin looked like fine marble and glistened in the moonlight that crept in through the windows. He was naked, basking in the glory of his perfectly sculpted body. He knew what he looked like and was clearly not afraid to show it off. I could feel the arousal of the witches standing around me. I felt their desperate desire for the warlock, their unquestionable blind loyalty to the man could be felt in the room. He stood inches from me. His breath touched my shin and I shivered from how cold it was. His breath felt like ice against my skin and I could feel ice particles forming on the spot he just breathed on. "Luna Audrey, a Mother of Seers. We finally meet." His voice was low and sinister. It sounded like a snake hissing at me. His ice blue eyes travelled down my body until he reached my stomach. He stared at my stomach and I watched a knife being formed from ice that materialised in his hands. "Where is the gem, Audrey?", he said in a low cold whisper. His eyes travelled up again to look at my face. I looked down and only noticed then that I was chained up. I couldn't move. "I don't know", I heard myself say. His lips curled into the most wretched and godforsaken smile. In one swift move he tore my stomach open and reached his hand inside. When he removed his hand he was holding a little pink ball, barely the size of a peach. It was my baby. He ripped my baby out of my stomach. I wanted to scream from the pain, the pain of having my stomach being torn open, the pain of losing my baby. But nothing came out. My screams were trapped in my throat. His smile widened as he watched the tears running down my face. I watched him put the little pink ball in his mouth. He chewed it while looking at me. The blood splattered over his lips. "That was a very strong pup, Audrey", he said in a low growl. I felt the life draining out of me. I had failed to protect my child. My screams were still stuck in my throat, threatening to stop my breathing. "Audrey! Come on, wake up my love!" I felt myself cough out water. Jonathan was busy giving me CPR. "Jay" My voice was barely a whisper. He stopped pumping my chest and pulled my head to his chest. I've never seen him this scared. "Jay", I said again, but he didn't move. He just held my head close to his chest. I tried pushing away his strong arms, but he didn't budge. The man wasn't going to let me go until he decided to do so himself. I finally felt him let go and I looked up at him. "I'm okay, Jay." I stroked his hair and moved closer to him so that my scent could calm him down. "What happened?" His voice was laced with panick and his light blue eyes were now a dark ocean blue. "I had a vision." I was still trying to catch my breath. "What did you see?" Jonathan knows I can only tell him visions that concern him directly. All other visions must be told to the people I saw in the vision. If I didn't see anyone I know in the vision, I had to report it to Mathew and share it with the other seers to see if they knew anything about the vision. This vision no doubt concerned Jonathan. In the past, a vision like this would have left me sobbing and shaking, but I'm stronger now. I know that visions are shown to us so that we can stop those events or do everything we can to make those visions come true. "I saw Raphael. He had captured me and wanted me to tell him where some gem is. I told him I didn't know and then..." "And the what, my love?" My husband still looked so worried. "Then he carved my baby out of my womb." I didn't think it was possible, but Jonathan looked even paler than he did just a few moments ago. "Over my dead body" He gritted his teeth and his eyes were shifting between his eye colour and his wolf's. I smiled at him. "Over both our dead bodies, Jay. I have a plan. We have to go see Agatha right now. She will know what to do." Agatha is the strongest good witch we know and luckily for us, her coven falls within the territory of the werewolf kingdom and is only an hour away from my pack. Jonathan helped me up and we both got dressed. I understood that if I was able to see the full vision alone, it means the other seers weren't meant to see it so it was best if I didn't tell them about it. It was the middle of the night, but Jonathan and I both knew there was no time to waste when it came to our baby. Agatha would just have to sacrifice her beauty sleep.
