Chapter 56: Audrey's POV

"Audrey, I don't want you going to the meeting tonight!"

I had been trying to convince Jonathan for the past three hours to let me go to the meeting with the seers. I was out of the hospital and the doctor said everything was fine, but Jay was insisting that I stay tonight.

"Jay", I rolled my eyes at him, "You're being unreasonable."

"Are you kidding me, Audrey?" He looked like he was about to blow a fuse. "We just got you back the other day and now you want to go to a secret meeting place that only you and your order of seers know about? You're not going anywhere!"

I huffed at him and just put on my black silk dress. I was about to grab my cape, but he snatched it out of my hand.

"Jay!" I shouted at him.

He snarled at me. "The only way I'm letting you go is if I go with you!"

I pouted my lips and gave him the best puppy fog eyes I could muster. Then I went down on my knees. He and I both needed this. He would feel better about me leaving right now and I always feel better after feeling him thrust in my mouth.

I started unbuckling his belt, but he swatted my hands away and tried to force me to stand up.

I couldn't believe my eyes when I entered the sacred cave.

Evangeline was standing where the Mother of Seers was supposed to stand. She and the other seers were all holding hands with their eyes closed, seemingly trying very hard to focus. There were only two seers who were not standing around the sacred waters - Esther and Alexander.

When the two of them saw me, they immediately got up and rushed to me.

"What the hell are they doing?", I whispered at them. I would have shouted, but this is still a sacred place.

"Evangeline told everyone the meeting was moved an hour early, Audrey. We had no idea she was lying." Esther was looking at me with pleading eyes.

"She demanded that we start without you. The others intially disagreed, but then she told them Raphael nearly killed you and you were still in the hospital." Alexander was glaring at Evangeline.

"Esther and I told them that we saw you and that you were fine, but she started spewing some nonsense about Raphael ripping your unborn pup out of your stomach. It was a pretty horrific description."

I was seething. This means she had that vision, but chose not to tell me! That's why she stopped our session last time. She knew what the vision was and didn't want to risk me knowing about it. This was one of the worst things a seer could do. It was right up there with lying to someone about a vision. She could lose her gift for doing something so unspeakably terrible.

Esther, Alexander and I watched them as they continued. None of their eyes were glowing; which meant they weren't seeing any visions. However, no matter how angry I was, I couldn't disturb them now. That would be like disturbing Selene herself.

After a few minutes they opened their eyes and they stopped holding hands.

The seers gasped when they saw me.

Evangeline turned her head to look at me and a low growl left her mouth. She fixed the shocked scowl on her face before everyone else turned to look at her.

"Audrey, we thought...",one of the seers tried explaining, "Evangeline said..." She trailed off.

I held the bridge of my nose. I didn't even know what to think right now.

"So, what did you see?", I asked in a mocking tone. "Did the sacred river reveal its secrets?"

They all avoided looking at me and looked at Evangeline.

She put on the fakest smile on her face. "Audrey, I'm surprised to see that you made it today."

"What did you see Evangeline?", I demanded.

She pretended like she didn't hear my question. "We heard you had an encounter with the warlock, Audrey. There were some ridiculous rumours spreading about you being near death's door, but...", her nice demeanour faltered a bit, "now I see all those rumours were lies."

"We didn't see anything, Audrey", one of the other seers finally answered my question.

"Of course you didn't see anything!", I said in a low growl. "You didn't see anything because there was no Mother of Seers present."

They all looked at me nervously. "Audrey, we didn't know you were okay. We promise. We thought we were doing the right thing."

I shook my head at them. "You stared into darkness for an entire hour without receiving a vision and not once did you stop and think that maybe you weren't supposed to be doing this?"

None of them answered me. I was too stunned and shocked to say anything else. I felt so betrayed. Did they actually support Evangeline or were they just plain dumb?

Evangeline noted my frustration and just had a menacing smile on her face. Whatever she was trying to do, she was obviously winning. I had lost control of my order. If they believed her so easily, it meant they no longer had any confidence in me.

I took a deep breath and tried to control my emotions.

"Look, we all make mistakes", I said to them. "Your'e all probably very tired since you spent an hour trying to get visions. You should get going."

Evangeline was the first one to leave the sacred cave. She walked passed me like I wasn't even there. The others hesitated before trying to leave. They still looked ashamed about what just happened.

I stopped the next seer who tried to leave. "Now that Evangeline is gone, let's get back to work."

They all looked at each other like they didn't understand what I meant.

"We cannot let today go to waste", I warned them. "You may have made a mistake today, but we cannot let that stop us from doing our work."

Esther and Alexander smiled at me. The others hurried to go stand in their positions.

As soon as everyone was ready, we held hands and I felt my eyes glowing as an image appeared in the water.

I saw a man and woman running from something. They emerged from a river. I just couldn't tell where the river was located. They were carrying a large box with them and clutching onto it like their lives depended on it. The area surrounding the river looked familiar. I had definitely seen it before, but I couldn't place it just yet.

I almost wished Evangeline was here. Perhaps if we also had her powers here, we would be able to see exactly where this river is.

I squeezed Esther's hand and tried to focus more on the vision. I felt everyone else use their collective powers to focus on the vision.

The image got bigger and clearer. I could now see the garden the river was in. I couldn't help, but smile when I saw it. It was the sacred river back at my pack. That's the river from which the man and woman will be arriving.

"We will only speak to the Werewolf King", the man and woman from the vision said in unison. "We will only speak to the Werewolf King", they kept repeating themselves over and over again.

Then the image changed.

I saw Luciene in limbo, the border place between life and death. I saw him talking to a bright light. I could tell that bright light was Selene. The light was telling him his time was up and that he had to choose whether he wanted to return to the land of the living or go and join the dead. Luciene chose to join the dead.

The image changed again.

A horrific scene unfolded before us. I saw hundreds of magical creatures being killed and drained of their magic. I watched Raphael grow stronger. Elizabeth was trying her best to burn him, but nothing worked. He was invincible. Then Elizabeth got struck in the heart with a large spear made of silver and ice and she fell to the ground.

Mathew carried her lifeless body away from the battle ground. He was crying and in so much pain. "Mate", I heard him roar. Then he fell next to her lifeless body and died.

All our eyes stopped glowing. I looked at the seers infront of me. We were all crying. We felt both of their deaths and we knew what this meant. Raphael was going to win the upcoming war unless we stopped him.

Esther fell to her knees. "We can't let that happen, Audrey", she said through her sobs.

I knew she was talking about both the vision of Luciene and the one of Mathew and Elizabeth.

"We won't!", I was wiping away my tears. Those visions terrified me as well, but I had to put up a brave face right now.

"Selene showed us these visions so that we could do something about them. We will not let those terrible things become a reality!"

They all nodded their heads in agreement.

I wanted to run to Mathew and Elizabeth and tell them what I saw. This was a terrible vision. I had to tell them about it right now. Luckily, Jonathan and I hadn't left Mathew's territory yet so I would be able to go to them immediately.

"Let us give our thanks to Selene", I said as we held hands again.

"Hey Agatha!" Esther and I just barged through her house. Agatha decided to stay at the seat of the werewolf kingdom to keep an eye on the curse and Mathew and Elizabeth. Mathew gave her one of the houses here for her to stay in.

"Luna Audrey! You startled me. What if I had a gentleman here with me, dearie?" She chuckled. Elder Anaia and Danny, who were sitting down in the sitting room, laughed at her.

"Sorry! We didn't realise you had guests", Esther said nervously.

The three of them noticed that we weren't in the best of moods and immediately stopped laughing.

"The two of you look like you've seen a ghost", Elder Anaia said as she gestured for us to sit down.

"I can't stay", Esther informed them. I just needed to show Audrey where you were staying Agatha. I need to find Ken."

She didn't wait for any of them to respond. She just ran out of Agatha's fancy house.

"I can't find Mathew and Elizabeth", I told them. "I thought maybe they'd be here."

"Oh, the two of them went to the human world with Mike and Keyon", Danny answered me.

"You didn't want to go with them?"

Danny seemed surprised by my question. "Oh gosh no! Humans smell like rotting flesh and I've heard they've gotten so much worse over the years. I'd rather stay here with these two lovely ladies."

Agatha and Elder Anaia laughed at her comment.

"You'd rather spend your time with two old ladies?", Elder Anaia asked her.

"Old people always have the best stories to tell!" Danny was now grabbing Elder Anaia's arm. "Agatha has already started telling me of the time she slept with a man and his brother!"

Agatha almost chocked on her drink. "Danny, that conversation was just meant for the two of us, dearie!"

Elder Anaia and I laughed at them.

"Well, I'll have to call Mathew and Elizabeth and tell them to come back" I stood up to leave, but Elder Anaia grabbed my hand.

"Now, now Audrey!", she said softly. "Let them be for now."

"Elder Anaia, I can't. I just-"

"Audrey!", she said a bit louder. "Whatever it is, it can wait a day or two. Would you be able to survive three years without Alpha Jonathan? Let them enjoy being together without having to worry about the entire magical world. It's just a day or two. I think they deserve it, don't you?"

I sat back down and released a heavy sigh. She was right. If anyone deserved some time alone with their mate, it was those two. Nothing would be able to make up for the years they spent apart. Most people would have gone feral after a few weeks of not having their mate closeby, but by some miracle they survived for three years.

"Your'e right, Elder Anaia."

"Of course I am right!" She said as she patted my back.

I could feel Agatha's eyes on me, but I couldn't face her just yet. After what Freya said to me I wasn't sure about where her true allegiance was. She could be here spying for Raphael. But that didn't make any sense because she taught us how to see the aura emanating from a witch. She taught us the weaknesses of witches and she helped me protect my baby.

I gulped as I tried avoiding her gaze.

"Hey! You guys want to see something awesome?", I tried easing the tension between she and I.

"Of course!" Danny jumped up.

I removed my necklace with the vile containing water from the sacred river and released a few drops in my eyes. Elder Anaia was sitting next to me so I touched her hand and immediately felt my eyes glowing as a vision appeared infront of me.

"That is so freaking cool!", Danny exclaimed. "You can get a vision whenever you want? I've never heard of that! What did you see?"

They all looked at me in anticipation, including Elder Anaia who is blind.

"I saw Mathew appointing Elder Anaia as a royal elder...and", I paused a bit, "I saw you too Agatha. I saw Mathew appointing the two of you and...", I decided not to reveal the identity of the third person, "and you guys were so happy."

They all gasped.

Agatha dropped the muffin she had in her hand. "Uhm...what..I...Audrey, are you sure?" She practically stumbled over her words.

"Yea", I responded. "I'm pretty sure."

"I can't be an elder", Agatha muttered to herself. "That means I will have to be a nun like Anaia here. No offense, Anaia, but I don't know how you live the way you do."

We all burst out in laughter. "Agatha, rest assured you can still have as many lovers as you want", Elder Anaia reassured her. "You may, however, have to be more discreet about it. That's what I've been doing. I'll teach you how." She winked at us.

"Anaia, you old dog!", Agatha teased.

We all erupted into laughter again.

"Do me! Do me!", Danny squealed excitedly.

I did the same thing I did with Elder Anaia and then placed my hand on hers. I felt my eyes glowing, but all I could see was a shadow blurring the vision that I was sure I was meant to see. I have seen this shadow before. It's gotten in the way of quite a few visions.

"Mmmm", I sighed as my eyes stopped glowing. "I'm sorry, Danny. I didn't see anything. Maybe I still have a few kinks to figure out."

She shrugged while she pouted her lips. "Ah man"

We all laughed at her.
