A baggie of ice is applied to Kye’s mouth after he is placed on the living room sofa where he barely slept the night before. Brand is not afraid to remove the baggie after twenty minutes and instruct the producer to open his mouth. A flashlight’s beam of golden-white light illuminates Kye’s mouth. Brand says, “You did bite the inside of your right cheek.” “Maybe he can suck on an ice cube,” Marlin says, rescuing one from the Kenmore’s freezer in the kitchen. “Maybe he can suck on me,” Brand jokes. Kye tries to laugh but it hurts too much and he stops.
