Prologue
Prologue
I was leaning on the car window while staring blankly at the trees as we passed. We were traveling to our new house. I could feel tears streaming down my cheeks and I secretly wiped it dry. At last, I could finally feel at ease and wouldn't shake in fear every damn night because of my retarded step-father.
He crawled on my bed every night and does something you couldn't imagine a father were capable of doing those things to his own children, especially his son.
My mom decided to migrate far away from where my father was when she caught him molesting me one night. She screamed and thrashed all night while all I did was cried. She blamed me for not telling her that he had been doing things to me. I couldn't because he threatened me. He was the worst father.
I sighed at the unwanted memories as it started flooding inside my head.
Starting that day, my life would be normal again. And I would try to bury those painful memories on my past.
I blinked my tears away when Emily, my nine year old little sister, tapped my thigh to get my attention. I cleared my throat.
"What is it Emily?" I smiled at her.
"Can I borrow your phone?" she asked innocently. I bet she would listen to some music. She looked so adorable!
"Sure." I pulled my phone from my pocket and I searched for the earphones in my knapsack and shoved it to her. She giggled as she plugged the earphone on her ears and murmured her thanks. She started to drum her fingers on her lap and lip synced to a song I didn't hear. I just laughed at her but I felt someone was staring at me.
My eyes flew at the rear view mirror and saw mom's glaring eyes as if it were stabbing me. I didn't paid attention to my mom and leaned back to the window.
Starting that night, she wouldn't looked at me with gentle eyes anymore. She was disgusted to me that she couldn't bring to call my name and look at my face.
I sighed heavily then I felt the car slowed down until it stopped in front of a wood colored gate where the cute cream painted house was planted. A smile registered on my lips as I saw the beautiful dirt path from the gate until the front door.
A new life's waiting for me.
