Episode 38-Drunken rage

I inhaled deeply as I peeked out of the window and enjoyed the cool breeze hitting my face.

“I’m glad you’re enjoying yourself” Nick commented and I retract my head into the car and pulled back the few strands of hair that were hitting my hair as a result of the cold breeze entering the car.

“Yeah, I miss this” I affirmed and he nodded.

“Why did you marry Hero by the way?” I guess he had been very curious about that.

“Not that I want to, I’m in the body of his dead wife” I replied plainly looking out the window again.

“How’s the planet like?” Nicholas further asked and I sighed deeply before deciding my answer.

“It wasn’t bad, that much I know about” I replied.

“Has Hero been treating you well?” Nicholas interrogated further.

“He’s not treating me awfully-

“But not too nice as well isn’t it?” I was forced to look at Nicholas in the eyes now.

“Have you been treating Claire well enough?” I decided to ask this time around.

“I’m trying my best” He simply replied.

“The same with Hero, he’s trying his best-

“You sound like you’re defending him even after Charlie told me you came home because he lied to you” Why on earth is he so interested in my relationship with Hero? I wondered.

“He’s my husband-

“Is that what you wanted? You don’t sound so thrilled last night when you were talking about it last night, you sound like-

“Trust, I’m not thrilled about anything in my life but sometimes you have to accept thins as it is, that way you can live a peaceful life” I quickly interjected and Nick gave me a sympathetic look.

“I know this place,” I said looking around the surroundings, it was the street where Brian’s dad; Mr. Stewart’s garage. Brian is Nicholas's best friend and we fought side by side during the apocalypse.

“Really?” Nicholas feigned ignorance and I frowned at him.

“The garage we used to meet up at first is around that corner” I smiled and he gave a soft laugh.

“You really is Claire” He pointed and I narrowed my face at him in a way that said ‘Are you kidding?’

“Did you doubt-

“Of course not, I never doubted you” Nicholas smiled closing in on the garage, and soon he was pulling into the space. The junkyard looks deserted like it hasn’t been used for quite a while. I stepped out of the car immediately Nicholas pulled over and started to look around.

“Come” He urged me forward and we slowly headed towards the direction of the hideout we all used to meet in before. Nothing has changed about it, the place still looks secured and hidden and the little security effort we added was still there but it seems it had been modified since it now looked like a car door and after opening it there’s a net cage which Nicholas groaned a little as he lifted it, then we took a step down into the hideout, something that didn’t exist there before I was about looking around when my eyes fell on my group; from Charlie, then Tanya, Brian, Tony, Hailey and Nicole.

“Wow,” I muttered softly watching everyone as we all both exchanged a bewildered look.

“I can’t believe this” Tony's jaw drop.

“I told you” Tanya chirped in.

“Are you sure she isn’t just the normal Claire we all know?” Hailey still has that bitchy personality of hers, not so enticing.

“Yeah, I was gonna ask the same thing” Nicole assented all staring weirdly at me until I gave a faint smile.

“It’s nice seeing you all again” I voiced and they all exchanged strange looks, well except my brother before they all dashed for me and bury me into a deep group hug.

“I can’t believe it’s you” Tony voiced after they all released me.

“Me too” I muttered putting my two hands in my pocket.

“But how?” They all questioned.

“So I’m guessing my brother hasn’t said anything to you” I turned to Charlie who smiled and shrugged.

“It wasn’t my story to tell” He plainly replied and I nodded really grateful for it. I smiled and walked down deeper into the garage then I recalled the very first time I had to find out about Hailey’s been Nicholas ex-girlfriend, a lot of things had really happened in this hideout, it was also the very first place I had seen Hero.

“Do any of you remember the first time we were here? I mean Hailey” I turned to Hailey whose gaze was fixed intensely on me.

“How would we ever forget that?” She laughed softly like it was starting to dawn on her that I was the real Claire. I recalled introducing Hero to everyone in this particular hideout of ours, it was really great, and these memories stormed me so hard that I started to cry. Charlie moved close and wrapped his arms around me before I started to sob.

“I miss that time Charlie, I miss being human, I miss everything” I sobbed suddenly feeling like crap.

“Claire, we are here for you…we are your friends and we’ll always be” Tanya soothed and nodded.

“Even if I’m an alien now” I replied with my head still buried in my brother’s chest.

“What?” Hailey was the first to express surprise.

“I didn’t have a body, so Hero put me into an alien’s body, his wife’s body” I revealed finally showing them my face. They all looked kinda stunned for a couple of minutes, I mean they just stood staring at me like buffoons except Charlie and Nicholas, the rest of the group looked pretty shocked.

“Even if” Brian suddenly said and smiled.

“Hero was an alien and we get so well with him, it shouldn’t be all hard” Brian shrugged and the other members of the group got a hang of it, Tanya, Nicole, and Hailey instantly hugged me.

“No matter what” They all assured and by that we all sat and started to talk about a lot of things that had ensued since I disappeared, which include Nicole was in her final years and had gone into Nursing, My brother started his own company and already at a net worth of 3billion dollars, he was also among the businessman investing into Nicholas, Brian and Danny’s company and also, Danny wasn’t here among all of us because he was on a business trip to Hawaii to represent the company for the dudes so we all decided to video call him using Brian’s laptop, we were all seated around it and kinda like very anxious. It was the silly type of reunion that we were anticipating but never thought possible. When Danny picked and went live we practically screamed and he immediately covered his mouth in shock, they had already told him we were gonna be having a reunion but he looked like he didn’t believe that it could actually happen.

“I can’t believe this,” He said staring at me in total shock.

“Are you sure that’s really Claire?” Danny questioned and I throw him a weird look.

“I should have cut your d**k off when you tried to r**e me in Egypt” Everyone wowed and Danny screamed like it still couldn’t believe it was actually me.

“I can’t believe this-

“Danny WTF! Happened to your hair?” I narrowed my face after realising he had shaved off his hair and the remnants looked like it was just starting to sprout.

“I battled cancer” He awkwardly scratched his head as I paled and felt so terrible for him.

“Yeah, just got discharged eight months ago, I’m fine now” He smiled probably to get me to stop giving him a sympathetic look.

“I’m sorry-

“For what exactly, actually is that motherfucker that should be apologising for almost taking my life, if anyone needed to apologise it’s him” He joked and we all laughed then we started to reminisce, we took snacks and beer before I started to tell them about my life on Zullion from the very first time I woke up till I found out that I was pregnant.

“Are you still like pregnant right now?” Tanya was the first to ask after I told them how the liquid stone had almost killed me.

“No, I don’t think so. I think I lost the baby” I sighed, honestly it hurts than I ever expected.

“You’ll be fine, I’m sure of it” They all assured and cheered me on and then we play a game before we all set back to go home by midnight, it had been a total fun day for me and I was kinda drunk, I must have taken a lot of soda.

“I love you guys” I slurred as Nicholas try to move me to the car.

“Why does she get drunk so easily?” Charlie frowned as he struggled to get me into the car with Nicholas.

“Must be because of her metabolism, she’s an alien now remember?” Nicholas said fastening my seat belt on me.

“Goodnight men, have a safe drive home” Nicholas gave my brother a brief hug, wave at the others making way to their expensive cars, I don’t know if I’ll have one if I was on earth but we all turned out great, I mean I am not complaining, I’m an alien queen. I laughed hysterically and Nicholas gave me the ‘are you okay’ type of look.

“I’m good” I shrugged feeling the alcohol slowly wear off.

“Are you sober now?” He asked as he steadied the car on the runway.

“I don’t know, I’m not sure” I replied looking out the window. The rest of the drive was totally quiet and when I get back home everyone was in the sitting room as I staggered my way in, Nicholas had been trying to steady my footsteps on the way but I didn’t like the way he was touching me so I said I could walk by myself and hastened my steps in.

“Hey family” I smiled and they all instantly narrowed their face at me, I could tell Claire was seething at the moment; my eyes fell on Barb who was sitting with the rest of the family.

“Barb, you should be on sleep mode, you don’t have much battery yet…I should probably ask Brain or Nicholas about that and Claire, why do you look so angry this time, someone stole your pet?” I laughed and his face darkens.

“I told them not to worry that my scanner figured you were having fun and then I hacked into the video call you had with your friend and showed them the coverage they could see all of you, but they still wanted to wait up for you” Barb reported and I shrugged.

“That’s great,” I remarked and my parents sighed.

“You were a night out with my boyfriend-

“Claire chill, I’m mated to an alien. You have nothing to worry about” I shrugged and turned to go upstairs only to see Nick behind me looking worried.

“Your girlfriend doesn’t trust you” I pretended to whisper but everyone could clearly hear, my ear picked a vibration and I immediately turned to stop the teacup I guess Claire had thrown at me in midair by controlling it to stop with my telekinesis. My body instantly changed back to my pale white colour.

“Don’t…mess…with me” I said through clenched jaw as my tentacles glowed red.

“You have no idea what you’re dealing with, I’m not just an alien Queen” My voice asserted authority and power and I almost couldn’t believe my own voice.
