Episode 13-Hero's secret lab

No matter how much I tried not to look disgusted by the two face prince whom Hero had invited to join us for breakfast, I just couldn’t help it but he didn’t seem to notice, he looked tensed somehow and I was guessing he was shocked that we were even still alive. I knew curiosity and guilt were definitely eating him up, he would glance at me once in a while as we ate in silence.

“Is everything alright, you two have been quiet?” Zioko asked Hero after few minutes of sitting with us so I smiled.

“Nothing to worry about” I didn’t know I had learned their language so fast but it took Hero by surprise as I responded in Ghafilan rather than the usual English I had always spoken in.

“She’s right? I’m sure she is very excited to leave the table to see the gift I had for her” Hero smiled at me genuinely and I returned the smile warmly.

“I’m greatly impressed by your lordship’s effort to please the queen” Zioko remarked and I grinned trying not to grit my teeth at the man but one thing was, the Ghafil’s body doesn’t lie. I was mad, upset and I felt I was going to glow red soon.

“Excuse me?” I politely asked standing from the table while meeting Hero’s eyes, he had been studying me and I hoped he knew why I decided to stand up from the dining table, apparently I’d had enough of prince Zioko and just wanted him brought to justice as soon as possible but as upset as I was I didn’t want to be far away from Hero, I was scared Zioko might try to harm him so I stood against the wall of the hallway leading away from the dining while keeping an eye on Hero.

Hero was talking about something with Zioko and he looked furious or…pretending to be furious, the anger on his face was fake and I wondered what it is he was talking about with him because I was kind of certain he deserves not to know anymore thing about Hero. After some minute’s discussion, Hero left the table and I saw him walking towards the hallway while prince Zioko heaved a heavy sigh of relief and I wondered what the f**k Hero had talked to him about, I hoped he hadn’t jeopardized everything by telling him how much he knew of his treachery and treason act. As Hero turned into the hallway he saw me standing with my legs crossed, hands folded while I stared down with my back rested against the wall.

"You scared me" Hero jolted as his eyes fell on me and then his face suddenly grow a smile.

"Are you not supposed to be in your room. Claire, what are you doing here?" Hero asked coming closer making me catch a whiff of his delicious smell that had my mouth watering.

"Are...you...still hungry? You're giving me a hungry look right now?" Hero chuckled nervously as I stayed quiet and just stared. So, I decided to look away then cleared my throat before speaking.

"What were you talking about with your...whatever he is to you?" I asked the question I'd been very curious about.

"I just decided to throw him off course. Told him I was almost assassinated last night but thankfully you were there to help and I suspect my two brothers" Hero had a pained expression as he talked and I felt my heartbreak for him.

"So what are you gonna do now," I asked and he sighed out a little.

"I have to go visit my brothers and...I have to make it seems that I thought they tried to kill me but I'm going to go tell them everything, also...I want to apologize I hope they'll forgive me" Hero's expression was grim and I could tell by it that he was really guilty.

"Hero, I don't know if you'll believe me but I think they've already forgiven you...before I turned back the time, they were so eager to save you and no one could have guessed that it was the same brothers you accused of killing your wife. They worked harmoniously to save you Hero...they'll forgive you that I'm sure of" I assured Hero and I saw his mood lift a little.

"I hope so Claire" He heaved another heavy sigh again and there was no doubt he was still questioning himself over his actions, trying to draw him away from his deep thoughts, I decided to bring on another conversation.

"I've been curious, the two of them understood English, how is that even possible?" I asked my curiosity getting the best of me.

"You might not remember them Claire but I'm certain they remember you in your human form, they were on earth together with many of my brothers. In fact, only Zioko stood behind to keep Zullion in shape when we stormed earth and like many aliens who descended to earth, they learn your language" Hero explained as we both decided to walk down the hall side by side.

"Did they know I wasn't Aira?" I asked narrowing my face in curiosity.

"They would have figured out, they knew you were my second mate so, they probably figured out" Hero shrugged and I nodded.

"Claire" Hero suddenly called me timidly.

"Yes," I answered almost immediately.

"To be honest I don't think I can go visit my brothers leaving you alone in the palace and also, I don't think I can face my brothers alone so...Will you come with me?" Hero asked and I suppressed a pleased smile because I don't think I'd be fine in the palace on my own, after what I witnessed the day before...I don't want to be far from Hero and him asking me was delightful.

"Of course why not?" I smiled trying not to sound desperate or too eager.

"That's good, also...do you recall I said I wanted to show you something" He gave me a wolfish grin that had me narrowing my face at him on suspicion.

"O...okay" I drawled and he smiled grabbing my hand and hastily leading me to another part of the palace which I haven't walked since I found myself on Zullion.

"Hero...where are you taking me?" I asked with a laugh as I felt my curiosity peeked.

"You'll see" He smiled and I rolled my eyes unable to control eagerness.

"Seriously Hero, you gotta tell me something" I urged Hero to talk as we take another turn to another long hallway I didn't want to walk through, damn the hallway was long. After we reached the end of the hallway Hero let us into what looked exactly like an elevator and I wish subconsciously that it was the end of our long walk, how big is the goddamn palace anyway... when I was exploring the palace with Barb I don't remember coming to that part of the palace, I didn't remember passing the particular hall Hero was leading me through and I didn't remember entering into the elevator, knowing no one could answer that particular question except Hero himself, I decided to ask him.

"When Barb and I explored the palace, I don't remember coming to this side of the palace? Why is that?" I questioned turning to him while he tried to hide the excited look on his face.

"It's restricted to everyone. Only I could access the place but I could bring anyone I want to bring in...like you" I don't know why but I felt important all of a sudden.

"And why is that?" I questioned further.

"That's a secret-

"But you're taking me there right now, so what's the big deal in telling me if I'm going to soon find out anyway" I scoffed.

"Then you should wait till you found out" Hero was persistent and it's was making me more anxious, more curious, and more eager. I started to play with my pinky, don't know if I should even call it that since I only had four fingers. When I was bored playing with my fingers I started to anxiously tap my foot.

"Claire relax, it's not like I'm going to harm you or anything" Hero laughed as he watched me in all my anxiousness but I ignored him and decided to vent my pent-up anger on the elevator.

"Why the f**k is it taking forever?" I complained in a groan and Hero laughed watching my helplessness.

Like elevators on earth, the shape of the palace elevator was square, and unlike most elevators on earth, it was illuminated by the bright light reflected from the wall, like every part of the palace, the place doesn't operate on bulbs, the wall reflected light...every part of the wall shine brightly like they were bulbs themselves. Finally, the elevator made the dang of normal earth elevators but instead of two doors to slid in and make an entrance like the elevators on earth do, the door slid up...just a single door slid up making an entrance and I must admit I was kinda floored by it that I briefly forgot what I really came for but with Hero's call, I distracted myself from the fascinating elevator door and walked into another hallway which made me groan in disapproval but Hero placed his hand on the wall standing at our right side. Then the hallway made an electronic sound and started to fade like a hologram.

"WTF!" I let out amazement.
