Episode 35-The green blood

“Get the f**k away from him!” Claire practically pushed me away from Nick after she hastily walked up to us. It ended up crashing on the opposite wall, hard enough that I winced.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to-

“How you even put a finger on him? Or you really think we are the same person we can share a boyfriend…what the f**k!” Claire screamed at me leaving me too shocked to say a word in defence.

“She didn’t know” Nick had a frown on his face and I guess he was also offended by Claire’s paranoid reactions.

“She hadn’t even said anything before I kissed her so she didn’t know” I saw colour drain out of Claire’s face as Nick defended me. Her eyes were still blazing though, she was so furious that the wave and vibration of her anger would melt steel if it were hot air. Nick looked over to me and studied me slowly then turned back to Claire.

“I came back…Hero didn’t free me entirely” I decided to help him out of his confusion.

“C…Claire?” Nick’s lips trembled as he spoke my name softly.

“You…how…I don’t understand” Nick stated and I nodded.

“Yeah, it’s a little complicated. I don’t mind explaining-

“He just got back from a long trip AIRA, now’s not the time to narrate your story” Claire coldly snapped and I gave an awkward smile before I saw Nick clenched his jaw.

“Why are you so rude Claire? You’re literally the same person…You were kind, passionate-

“And now you’re gonna start comparing me with her like you’ve been doing for the past 5years isn’t it? Why does everyone thinks she’s better than me?” Claire’s brawled and I felt the anger and resentment oozing out of her in multitude.

“Why?” Her voice cracked before she slowly turned away and headed back upstairs.

“By the way, she’s back now…the girl you so desperately wanted. I’m sure you don’t need me anymore” Her last words made Nick sigh as he watched her leave.

“Claire” He called softly trying to get her back but she just disappeared upstairs without giving him a glance.

“I’m so sorry, she was just…jealous” I was mad, but not at Claire but at everyone, I knew she can’t just turn out like that, there have to be some factors attached to it and I was beginning to put the pieces together.

“Did…did Nick come too?” It’s funny to see how the younger Nick was asking for the older one, it’s just so weird and awkward.

“No, he’s…gone” The sympathetic look on Nick’s face made me feel really vulnerable and I sure don’t like the feeling.

“You came alone? How? Why? Is there gonna be another apocalypse?” Nick panicked and I laughed softly.

“No, I just wanted to come back home. Hero didn’t actually release me to…die after the apocalypse. He trapped me and brought me back into the body of a girl named Aira. I’ve been staying on their planet until I found out about everything…Hero had acted selfishly and I was so mad so…I decided to come back home” Though I’m kinda like regretting that idea…I thought subconsciously but didn’t say it loud as Nick just stared at me, the way he looked at me was…strange. He looked at me just like the same Old Nick used to, dotingly and lovingly. Could Claire be right about him loving me? the thought was weird because I am Claire, she is me and the reason why she was like that was because she had so much resentment bottled inside her, I have a feeling they’ve been making her feel really unworthy since I left.

“So, I heard from Tanya you work in Chicago with the rest of the boys” I finally broke the awkward silence while slowly walking back to the dining table to set up my breakfast.

“Yeah we do, we started with making power plants and advancing the repulser we made during the apocalypse, the government itself finances us so…it’s going well. I’m curious about something though, does this Aira have the same face as you or what? How come you-

“It’s a complicated story Nick, how’s your dad and step-mom?” I asked suddenly recalling about one of the families that had offered a great deal when dealing with the apocalypse.

“They are good, did anyone tell you I have a new stepbrother yet, four years old” My jaw dropped and I started to laugh at the thought that Nick had a step-brother.

Nick was one of the main survivors of the apocalypse that happened five years ago before I got reincarnated into my younger body, lucky for him he was also sent back into the past so we could stop the earth’s doom before it was too late and unluckily for him, he was returned into the body of Danny, our neighbour and someone Nick used to bully I high-school, both had so many differences that they stopped their parents Nick’s dad and Danny’s mom from getting married though the two were in love and both single. They both lost their spouses but the boys made sure to pull them apart until I helped them work out their differences because we needed teamwork to stop the apocalypse and fortunately they worked things out and were able to forgive each other and also gave their parents a chance to fall in love, Nick and Danny both loved me…something that made things worked faster.

I had made the younger Nick joined in our fight while the older Nick had stayed in Danny’s body…took a while before they co-existed but they do, these three different people all loved me dearly, but I had fallen in love with the older Nick before we were even sent to the past together. My life was a complicating mess I’m certain and older Nick is gone and I’m made to face younger Nick who had gotten together with the younger me after I was expelled out of my body by Hero, I need not be told twice how awkward things are gonna get if we all manage to get together, shoving the memories of the past away I settled for my breakfast while serving Nick my previous breakfast.

Nick and I started to talk about all I’ve missed since I left, including Tony dating his sister Nicole and almost wrecking their relationship and also…Danny was also engaged to Hailey and was getting married soon, the big news I must admit and it was such a big circle because Hailey was Nick’s ex-girlfriend, can anything be more terrifying than that circle.

“So, how is your relationship with Claire?” I asked sipping down on the water I had poured into the coffee mug.

“We broke up once, for two years then we got back together last year…we’ve been working things out since then” He replied plainly letting out a huge sigh. Then we heard the doorbell ring and I had to stand to get it. It was my brother and I was somehow excited about his presence.

“Charlie” I smiled excitedly and he scanned me through for some minutes.

“You are the old Claire; being a while I saw the other Claire this excited to see me” He grinned as I let him in, then his eyes fell on Nicholas who gave him a wolfish grin.

“Glad to have you home for the holidays' bro” My brother smiled exchanging pleasantries with Nicholas before turning back to me.

“It felt so much like the old times seeing you two here together-

“What in the world did you mean by that?” Claire asked as she appeared at the end of the stairs all of a sudden, she has got to stop sneaking up on people.

“I mean Claire being here and Nick-

“Of course I know what you mean, did you possibly think she would have Nick?” Nick gave an exasperated sigh at Claire’s sudden intuition.

“She’s married to Hero have you forgotten that” Nicholas immediately glanced towards me but my eyes were fixed on Claire’s.

“We need to talk” I declared trying to grab her hand and lead her to the backyard but he jacked my hands off and it hit off the table knife in effect as I was pretty close to the dining table.

“What the f**k is wrong with you?” Charlie chastised almost immediately as Nick quickly stood to check if I was alright but I wasn’t, I had gotten injured by the act and had sustained a cut that now had me bleeding green.

“Your blood…is green?” Charlie noticed as I tried to press down on the cut but the blood ended up flowing down my fingers and dripping down the floor. The faint green pints had everyone’s attention and I felt really terrible all of a sudden.
