The DailyTimes HQ Office Room
"Sir seems to be really angry, right?" whispered Isabella in John's ear.
"Well, of course he will be. After all, the ruckus those Helfort have created, isn't it obvious?" replied John.
"Hmm... yes," Isabella approved.
"What is it that you're whispering about?" shouted Jason.
"Uhh—nothing, sir. We were just thinking why you called us to the office all of a sudden," said John, his voice trembling.
"Those Helfort bastards think so highly of themselves..." groaned Jason.
"Well, here we go again. He started the blabbering once again..." said Jeremy, frustrated.
"For the next one month, our prime focus will be ElvynGross Street. We'll cover other news only if there's nothing going on there," said Jason resolutely.
"Oh, you summoned everyone to say this? Wait, what? ElvynGross!? Are you serious?" said Jeremy in disbelief.
"Yes, I am," said Jason.
"Sir, but we don't have the permit, do we?" asked Isabella.
"Yes, we don't have the permit, but how does that matter?" Jason replied in an angry tone.
"Sir, I think you should put more thought into this. They will go to any extent to stop us. I'm telling you this from experience," said John, warning him.
"Oh, so you're afraid they'll thrash you again, huh, John?" Jason said with his voice aggressive.
"Sir, what John said is right. We should think about it and find a solution, rather than taking the risk," said Isabella, supporting John.
"See, the police from ElvynGross is a friend of mine," Jason explained, "I have inquired about the permit thing. He said it was a made-up cult and they officially don't hold any rights... He is willing to support us, but it seems Helfort is politically more powerful, and we might not be able to go against them lawfully."
"Well, that settles it, doesn't it? What can we do if the law doesn't support us? We withdraw..." said Jeremy, fear evident in his voice.
"Hahaha, well, anyone in my place would do that, but not me..." Jason said with confidence.
Jeremy's mindvoice: "He's going to make us all go down at once, this overconfident guy. Crap, how do I get out of this?"
"Then how do you propose we go against them, sir?" asked one of the employees, curiosity in their voice.
"Isn't it obvious? Only reporters from Helfort can cover the street, right?" said Jason.
"Hmm, yes. So..."
"So... we disguise ourselves as 'The Helfort Reporters' and cover ElvynGross Street. Hahaha, isn't it a great idea?" Jason said, excitement flowing in his voice.
Jeremy's mindvoice: "No doubt, he's gone crazy..."
"What do you mean, sir? Every reporter from Helfort has an ID, and their data is with those people," said John, worried.
Jason briskly walked toward his desk, opened the drawer, and pulled out the IDs, placing them in front of everyone to see.
Everyone was surprised by the sight of those IDs.
"These are your IDs from tomorrow. Take these and get to work," said Jason, his voice thumping.
John took the IDs and handed them out to everyone.
"Please, please, there shouldn't be any ID card for me. There shouldn't be..." muttered Jeremy, his voice trembling.
"Hey, Jeremy, here’s your ID card," said John, handing it to him.
"This is the worst day of my life," groaned Jeremy.
"But, sir, is it really okay? I mean, why take such a big risk when we're doing fine as is?" asked Isabella, walking toward Jason.
Jason sensed the fear in Isabella and said, "Do you remember your interview, Isabella? That day, you said reporting can instantly bring about change. I was so impressed. But you know, because of people like these, even this industry is getting corrupted. And I just can't tolerate that. I came from nothing and don't care if I go back to it, but I'll do that once the chains on the hands of reporters are broken. I reckon I'll make sure that happens."
Isabella understood Jason's intent, but something still bugged her. Jason sensed it and said, "I know what's on your mind. You're worried something like last time will happen, right?"
"Yes, sir. John already suffered a lot, and now that everybody is involved, I'm worried," Isabella expressed her fear.
"Well, I understand that. Don't worry. I told you about my friend, right? His men will be providing you guys protection by staying hidden," Jason assured Isabella.
Isabella was still skeptical but nodded to what Jason said.
"So, everybody got your IDs, right?" Jason asked.
"Yes, sir!" replied the staff.
"Well then, from now on, you’ll be working as Helfort news reporters. Keep that in your minds. No one should have any doubt about it. Understand?"
"Yes, sir!"
"Well then, shall we start?" Jason said as he confidently looked at his staff.
